Default 5e Homebrew Contests Chat Thread

Greetings, everyone. We've had a few 5e homebrewing contests now, but I feel like there's been a general lack of direction and structure to them, so I was thinking it might be a good idea to have a centralised 'chat thread' where we could record the results of previous contests, float ideas for new ones and generally stimulate some interest in the concept. What do you think?

As a starting point, who would be interested in a second spell-brewing contest? I would be willing to host one if there's enough interest.

Spells themed on Monster Munch you say? Who wouldn't be interested?!

Also nice job on gathering and presenting everything.

    Are you... hungry, Final?

It could be a good theme though. I might run with it, if there's an... appetite for it!

What? Don't be silly. You brought it up not me! I haven't even had them in years!!!!
    Damn diet cravings.

    For some serious suggestions;
Movement; Moving others (forcibly or willingly) and yourself, tethering creatures together etc.
Maltesers; Spells that are balls, maybe they bounce around affecting multiple targets or ignore cover etc.
Assassin; getting into positions to kill and spells to quickly/silently kill etc.
Jaffa Cakes; Spells with misleading names.

So, apart from Final Hyena, is no one interested in a spell contest? That's a shame.

I guess we could do a subclass contest... there haven't been any of those for a while.

I could maybe do a spell contest? I've never made spells before.

Random Idea I had. Flesh out a class stub:

Original Poster creates the first levels of class, establishing the name, broad mechanical strokes (casters vs non-caster) and the first hints at what the sub-classes might do. Other posters than complete the rest of the remaining 17 levels to make the class whole. With voting as normal on the results.

This might be interesting because rather than working with a loose theme or an anything-goes grab bag. Folks are trying to create the best version of a particular thing. Presumably winning would be more about "who made the best thing" rather than "who made the variety of thing with broader appeal"

    Other possiblities in this vein:

Re-implement a missing class from a previous edition.
Implement a given a Prestige Class or idea from a previous edition as sub-class/archetype for the core set.

In each both cases be it "Finish the Stub" or the porting exercises, the winner would determine what the next thing is. The latter options require familiarity with older versions but given what I've seen of the Homebrew forum and all the ports people already do, enough folks are to have a good base for this sort of thing.

Could work, for sure. I guess it's somewhere between a contest and a collaborative exercise/parlour game...

I'd probably contribute, if someone started a 'stub'.
