    With moderator permission, resurrecting this thread in anticipation of the end of the scheduled hiatus of the comic on the 15th.

    To quote Ashley on what's coming up with chapter 13: "You want to meet Sette’s dad at last? What about an entire tribe of Two-toed Lizards? Wonder what’s been going on with that gross Silver monster and its crazy reptile master? Want to see how Duane deals with a shrine full of children he should but probably is incapable of hating?"

    So we are. Duane in a Gefendur shrine is going to be a hoot. But first it looks like we're briefly visiting Sharteshane.

    A thousand lines of pymaric conditional statements seems awfully small for how advanced that AI is.

    Maybe they use standard AI libraries, or sieve the right memories for the personality - e.g. get all Skipcross female player memories.

    It's kind of weird since formal logic can't really work at scale - maybe the conditional statements actually yank the right memories out to grow the AI properly.

    Not insurmountable, of course. The code is complex, but the relationship between length in lines and algorithmic complexity isn't exactly tight.

    I think that’s why it’s so impressive to the king some one has rendered a bottom forcefield.

    Beadman's is a rather significant business, and giving the King a particularly fancy and expensive pymaric sounds in line for anyone wanting to be the power behind the throne. The king has def' been coming off as the type to be easily bought so long as crass distractions are provided. I strongly doubt the construct's fake, as there are clear khert lines coming off of her.

    Uaid's got a perfectly serviceable memory and personality, so making a skipcross-playing construct is hardly out of line (if expensive). I'm certain the image of woman is a mix of Solidity, Opacity, & Contour aspects taken from a model, and the pymaric is not a small item, which is to be expected if it's going to hold all of that *and* a robust library of skipcross memories.

    That's not what powers the artificial mind in the first place, that's the flowchart she's following to know what moves to make.

    I wouldn't call him the big bad. A big bad, if anything. He's one of the several people who want to direct the brewing situation and use to their own ends, like General Bell, Ruck, Queen Sonorie, Cutter/Prakhuta and whoever else we haven't seen yet or I'm forgetting.
