Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
Huh. I had really expected Eugene to have more of a reason to visit. Not sure what to make of this, then... perhaps the whole point was to show how far from LG Eugene has fallen, or to show that Roy would have to figure this out all by himself?

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
Wow I'm surprised I was on when a new comic updated. :D
SO Roy wants, him to pawn the visits off on Julia. Too bad Eugine can't actually do that because he's bound to the sword or somesuch."Besides, you know the saying: Kill one, and you are a murderer. Kill millions, and you are a conqueror. Kill them all, and you are a god." -- Fishman

So understand how Roy feels. Only swap in "mother" instead of father.

I thought he just pretended to be one.....
Going to check the back catalogue!Geez, what is it with that guy and needing to figure out all the fiddly little details?

Dang, I was hoping Eugene would have been more useful for this visit.
Oh well, great comic nonetheless!Spoiler

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
For the non english speaking people (like myself) "Pawn this visits off on Julia"="Go to visit Julia (instead of me)"?
(If it's that, well, I doubt it can happen, AFAIR the reason he can appear to Roy is because Roy has the family sword)
---
Yes, Toni. Abduction initially seemed like a big word to me, but thinking about it, Eugene and Shojo did their little schemes for quite a long time.Last edited by Dr.Zero; 2016-08-12 at 09:40 AM.

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
It has established that dad can't help anymore. Also, reminds some people that letting all dwarves die is not a good thing(tm). But mostly, that Eugene's amazing scrying powers are no longer on the table, as they were up till now.
Edit: also, it has helped Roy figure out how to unlock the powers of the sword on command - turns out frustration works wonders.

I find it interesting that he's the last oathspirit up there. Did the Celestials fast track some entries in light of the probable apocalypse?

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
Not quite sure what that was about. Like Eugene Ave some disturbing ideas and left. Is reducing Eugene to a slithering pile of sad, lonely man really necessary storytelling right now? The man's been trapped on a cloud virtually alone for decades. Do we really need to be sitting on him right now when there's bigger fish to fry? Or was this whole thing just supposed a heavy handed take that to the "Dwarven mass suicide" thing that the boys and girls were putting forward. I'm mean, it just seems to me that this was an excuse to flanderize Eugene some more.

I figure that, once he tied that deva up - he moved the deva out of the way - hence the abduction.Marut-2 Avatar by Serpentine

Yes.
And you are probably right, it's unlikely he can do that. But who knows, magic, am I right?Last edited by snowblizz; 2016-08-12 at 09:44 AM.

That really doesn't seem fair to Julia. Then again, maybe she won't have to deal with it.

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
Pfft, Roy came fairly close to taking out that durkula by himself with his magic sword. And this time he has a party handy to back him up. Oh sure its likely the trio will kidnap everyones favorite wizard from the party at the worst possible time, but hey, that still leaves sneak attacks and stab happy mcgee to back him up. Oh yeah, and elan. :p

Re: OOTS #1048 - The Discussion Thread
Hi, this is my first time posting but I've been reading oots for a while now, just wanted to say I love it!
Despite Eugene's callous words I do feel quite sorry for him. He's been stuck in a small jail-plane for years now, and by the sound of it he's been upgraded to solitary. I'm not surprised he's irrational.
