The fireplace in the Orc's Last Rest tavern provided too much smoke and too little light. You couldn't almost see the face of the person sitting across the table, but you knew who your companions were.

You were the same kind - outlaws, outcasts, misfits. At least that's what you were back at home. But here - at the edge of civilization as you know it, here you could be something else.

Heroes. Explorers. Rich men. Maybe even kings.

That's why you came here and that's why you sat to this table. It's time to go, to gather supplies, and to venture into dungeons - to find fortune, to find fame, to become legends.

You all look at the small map that the tavernkeeper gave you. It was only a rough sketch, but there they were - the ruined keep, the ancient tomb and somewhere also the abandoned mansion - but the tavernkeep doesn't know where exactly. Each of these should contain precious loot and - also - untold dangers.

Will you venture forth into one of these?

Will you find death or make your fortune?

Who will you become...? Which path will you take...?

As your first adventure you can choose between:

Ancient Tomb of Karnakh the Usurper located at the end of Fargrave Cementery

    and

Ruined Keep overlooking the Blacktear Lake

To keep things simple, there will be a wagon with a local guide who will drive you there and back for simple fee of few copper coins. He will drive you to both these locations, but to no other.

Procedural question. Are we going to jump right into a dungeon crawl or is it ok to gather rumors in town and from the map giver about which of the three might be the easiest and what kinds of things might be in them? I'm fine either way, just curious about expectations.

...and votes are 2:1 for the ruined keep...

As for the start, I wanted to jump right to the first dungeon, but I'm fine either way. However, I'm on my phone what makes posting very uncomfortable. Let me know if you want to start in a tavern or at the first location. Ideally in next 24 hours - I would like to start...

The whole point of adventuring is to get loot to spend at the tavern, which hopefully some of our PC''s will survive to do!
    It goes like this:

Ok, let's jump right to the abandoned keep!

In other words: IC thread is up! Feel free to post!

So, the deal is simple: you get a "drive" there, and back (on a wagon, so horses are rested, and you can get back all the stuff you can carry out of the dungeon), including some food (so your rations are untouched when we start) for the first 2 dungeons (the keep and cementery). You also get some moneyz if you "clean" the dungeon completely.

As for the keep itself (I'm not going to upload a map at this moment, so there is some visual inspiration. There are walls surrounding he main building, but most of these are already broken through or destroyed completely.

You are still around 3 miles from there, so it will take you some time to get there... however, choice of road is yours.

    So: let the adventure begin!

So, you go up the path and the party formation is:
    - Bob in lead with Drake checking for traps next to him
    - Ancy and Jor
    - Penny
    Correct?

Also, if you want to state that you have a weapon in hand, or anything, let me know beforehand...

EDIT: Do you take your horses or go on foot?

While I'd like to say that Drake the Thief has his bow ready, since he is checking for traps, verisimilitude demands thar he be on foot and poking the path with a 3.048 meter wooden pole.

Hello everyone, I'm visiting my family, so I won't be able to post anything until Sunday as I'm on my phone. However, short answers to your questions:

@IronLionShark: Great! Also, alignment languages may be switched for any other racial language (e.g. goblin, dragon, elven). You can also use one slot for three other choices: "ancient", "rune" and "secret" languages - ancient languages cover old inscriptions in dead languages older than few hundred years, "rune" languages cover magical glyphs and runes favoured by some races and "secret" needs specification (e.g. thieves guild language, etc.). I'm open to suggestions on the third one.

For others: feel free to change alignment language to other one. Or you can keep it - it will give you basic means of communications with races you can't otherwise speak to (usually limited to few basic words as "trade", "fight", "yes/no/maybe"). And if you want to change your languages, now is the correct time.

@2D8HP: the gatehouse is around 8 meters high, so you have enough rope (thanks for the conversion!)

@Stan: regarding horses, if you did not buy them, you don't have them. Sorry, flashback from other system where almost everyone has a horse...
