Oh dear. They're in a spot of trouble, aren't they (also, excellent comedy in general).

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
TMI, Elan.
This is too many giants to be a random encounter - somebody is trying to stop the airship. And I'll bet they won't be able to just fly higher either.Plague Doctor by Crimmy

Uh-oh. Are they just angry about these intruders in their territory, or are they acting on behalf of their god?

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
Fighting this many frost giants off seems pretty difficult even for the Order. I say they'll either evade, run, or diplomacize.

Those frost giants look really angry which might prove a slight problem for our heroes.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
Hmm, this comic made me realize something I hadn't thought of before. Does anyone find it a little...weird, considering his child-level intellect and naivety, when sexual remarks are made regarding Elan? Because of his immaturity in that context. Just a thought.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
And here I thought that Elan was smarter than in the beginning of OOTS.
Since I don't find it in the index of Giant Comments, I suppose it was in the commentaries of one of the book (maybe right before Elan and Haley kissed) that it is said some people assumed Elan was childish and therefore asexual.
The passage in the bandit camp with Samantha showed that he was already not.
He's just like that, let's deal with it.
But tbh, I didn't expect him to almost throw that line.Last edited by Quild; 2016-08-30 at 08:58 AM.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
More a reference to Roy having tricked his party to looking for starmetal.
I think this stems from the same lack of understanding people have with Thog, Elan is not a mentally incompetent person being taken advantage of - he is an experienced adventurer who can make his own romantic choices (such as being the one to initally presue Haley when they kissed, or when he got presents for Samantha).Last edited by dancrilis; 2016-08-30 at 08:54 AM.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
I agree, a little too much information there from Elan. I find it highly likely the frost giants are from Thrym, but a bit more altitude should see them away safely, right? The Monster Manual gives frost giant rocks a range increment of 120ft. Unless the Mechane is big enough that range penalties don't matter? On the other hand V's dimensional locks should hold off anyone teleporting in... but wasn't there something about frost giants and white dragons?

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
Methinks that sign needs to be updated. Also somethings going to happen to the ship that will force it to land/crash.
And yes, it can be a bit jarring, though not always. My webcomic!

And here I thought for a sweet moment with that first KRNNSH that we were going to get a 300-page Titanic-parody digression.
At least now I can get back to enjoying my glass of elven wine in peace and quiet, without being called on to intervene in someone else's problems.

Well... the sign did warn them, in a way. The rocks just happen to be going in the opposite direction.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
The question is, what's gonna become of the attack? No matter how it's resolved, I'm thinking it'll end up being fuel for the mutinous fire.

Re: OOTS #1050 - The Discussion Thread
About time there was a "random" encounter. :P
Attention LotR fans
Spoiler: LotRThe scouring of the Shire never happened. That's right. After reading books I, II, and III, I stopped reading when the One Ring was thrown into Mount Doom. The story ends there. Nothing worthwhile happened afterwards. Middle-Earth was saved.
