"Oh, looks like someone is going to miss out on chocolate cake, what a shame." The handmaiden cooed.

[Hawkflight]

Suguri's floppy canine ears perked up. Bed was good, but cake was better. And she could always just go back to sleep. She rolled over, attempting to hop out of bed ... and faceplanted on the floor, bloomers over face. She let out a noise highly reminiscent of a puppy whimpering.

[Kuroimaken]

The handmaiden chuckled. "Come on. let's get you into a nice yukata."

[Hawkflight]

Suguri rubbed her eyes tiredly. "I don't think I've ever worn a yukata before," she mumbled.

Blinking the sleep from her eyes, the little dog girl looked around the room. "Where's daddy and grandpa?" she asked.

[Kuroimaken]

Her room was fairly small, but at least she had one all to herself. As the handmaiden procured a yukata for her, she explained: "Setsurou-sama left for work early this morning. Katsurou-sama is waiting for you to eat breakfast. He told me there was a surprise for you, too."

Suguri examined the yukata and tried to put it on, but it kept pinning her large, fluffy tail to her legs uncomfortably.

"Um, it doesn't fit," she said.

[Kuroimaken]

The handmaiden considered this for a moment. "Stand still, okay?"

As she wrapped the fabric around Suguri's body, she took note of the exact spot her tail was at. She could feel a quick rush of wind behind her, before she felt the handmaiden's fingertips helping her tail ease out of the yukata in a hole she didn't know was there before.

"There we go."

[Hawkflight]

Suguri wagged her tail, feeling the yukata now fit perfectly around it.

"Oh! That's much better! Thanks!"

[Frozen_Feet]

[Seireitei; Combat Division]

Senshi nods, stands up, and leaves the hospital. He then looks around, and heads towards the Combat Division Training Grounds. Might as well get back in practice for when he inevitably fights that masked thing again.

On his way, Senshi walks past a group of fresh Academy recruits. Looks like they're touring various Divisions, to see all the places where they might end up after they graduate.

The group's sort of hard to miss, 'cause there's a genuine giant among them.

[Kuroimaken]

The giant in question looks incredibly bored. It seems they don't allow alcohol at the Academy, at least not in quantities that would allow him to get buzzed. And this tour, ugh! The only division he was interested in was Combat Division, and even then he got a lot less enthused when he was told he would not be engaging in training exercises there.

Ah well. Least the outside smelled better than his tent.

Suguri wagged her tail, feeling the yukata now fit perfectly around it.

"Oh! That's much better! Thanks!"

"You're quite welcome.

Let's go. Katsurou-sama has been waiting a while now, and he gets impatient when he's hungry."

"Okay!" Suguri said, letting the nice lady lead her through the house.

Interesting thing about the Hishikawa homestead: the place was huge, and it looked ridiculously easy to get lost in. Suguri probably counted at least four different turns before they reached the dining hall.

She could actually smell how delicious breakfast seemed at least a corridor away, however.

People think brunch is a modern invention. It's not. Traditionally the Japanese skip lunch altogether and have this huge meal that's a combination breakfast and lunch. It all comes back to generations spent farming when the only meal the family shared WAS breakfast.

But yes, there is chocolate cake, too.

"Suguri-chan, welcome! Did you sleep well?"

"Suguri-chan, welcome! Did you sleep well?"

Suguri's eyes practically sparkled when she saw the chocolate cake. For breakfast. She nodded eagerly.

"Mm-hmm!" she confirmed.

[Kuroimaken]

It is the duty of grandfathers to spoil their grandchildren.

"Did you wash your hands? Your face?"

[Hawkflight]

"Ummm...."

Suguri looked around, trying to figure out where the bathroom would be in this place. The handmaiden hadn't shown her where it was, so she couldn't know. Finally, she gave up and shook her head.

[Kuroimaken]

Katsurou chuckled. The child couldn't exactly know what wasn't taught to her, right?

He waved to... no one in particular, apparently, and a different handmaiden showed up with a tin full of water and a towel. "Here, Suguri-sama."

[Hawkflight]

Suguri looked at the bucket with a confused expression, but then mentally shrugged and washed her hands in it. She didn't bother asking where the soap was - she never used it anyways.

[Seireitei, Combat Divison]

Senshi walks over. Maybe the recruits or students or whatever might want to meet an actual member of the Combat Division. "Hello there!"

[Kuroimaken]

[Hishikawa Estate]

"Much better. Have a seat, my dear." Katsurou offered, patting the seat next to his.

[The training grounds]

The giant halted in his tracks as Senshi approached. He seemed to be... sniffing the air?

"Somethin' here smells funny."

[Hawkflight]

Suguri hopped up onto the chair, her tail wagging excitedly.

[Kuroimaken]

Chair? What chair? It was a cushion. Japanese people sit on cushions! Silly Suguri.

"Did you sleep well?"

[Hawkflight]

Suguri nodded, then glanced down and to the side. "Well...."

[Kuroimaken]

"What's wrong?" Katsurou's eyes kind of implied that she couldn't say it was nothing.

[Hawkflight]

Suguri fiddled with her hands for a moment. "Well ... it felt ... a little lonely," she admitted. "I think, when I was alive, I had some stuffed animals I slept with, and it felt a little lonely without them."

[Kuroimaken]

"Well, I do believe it won't be lonely for long. My grandson left you a little something."

Katsurou produced a gift box from under the table.

The giant halted in his tracks as Senshi approached. He seemed to be... sniffing the air?

Senshi pauses and shrugs. "Well, it certainly isn't me. I just had a shower." Well, two hours ago, or so.

[Kuroimaken]

"Huh. Now that you mention it, it is you." The giant replied.

"You smell a little bit like a Hollow. But... not like you just killed one."

[Hawkflight]

"Well, I do believe it won't be lonely for long. My grandson left you a little something."

Katsurou produced a gift box from under the table.

Suguri observed the box curiously, glancing up at Katsurou then unwrapping/opening the box.

Oh look, a stuffed purple pony! And Suguri will quickly find she can actually move its legs, too!

It actually somewhat resembles one of the characters from the show, but damned if the writer here would know any of their names.

"My grandson made this for you last night. Since he couldn't find a way for you to watch the show before you went to bed."

[Hawkflight]

Suguri stared at the pony (that looked like the unicorn Twilight Sparkle) in awe for a minute, before bringing it close and hugging it.

"I love it. Thanks," she said.
