As Aria faints from the blow Ken calls her back to her poke ball. "Time for a rest now girl. Alright Zippo it's your turn! LIGHT 'EM UP!"

Zippo jumps down from Ken's shoulder and rushes into the fray, flames towering. A ball of flame flies from Zippo's mouth to the oversized bug.

Ken:

One of the copies disappears in a ball of flame, the rest rise straight up, well out of Zippo's range.

Slim brandishes a pokeball and calls out "That's enough, give someone else a turn, there's nothing to learn from that!"

The yanma screeches in disappointment as it disappears.

A new ball tossed out reveals a tiny, blue, quadrupedal pokemon with a trunk-like proboscis with red markings on its nose and ears. It trumpets a challenge. It rushes at Zippo, tossing it's head wildly from one side to the other, bucking back and forth. But Zippos is able to dodge out of the way.

Zippo has initiative

EDIT: yes, this pokemon also has Pressure

"That's a new one! Still won't stop us though, Zippo let's show them what we're made of!"

Zippo spews cloud of black smoke from his mouth, clanking his presence.

"Yeah. We saw a Yanma at the river where I found Ronin's egg," Cassandra answers.

At the sound of his name, the Pawniard perks up and then notices that there's a battle. He sits at the Oracle's feet and observes intently.

"It picked and Oddish and flew away with it."

"Right... That little root didn't stand a chance."

Tyson whistles. "Damn, that bug is fast! I'd hate to be chased by one of those. Speaking of which..." He looks over to Lys. "Hey, what's with the long face? We're literally out of the woods now!"

Looking back at the fight he watches as slim recalls Yanma and sends out a new pokemon.

Never seen that before...

He pulls out his pokedex and registers the blue quadruped.

Ken:

The blue pokemon dashes through the smoke screen, slamming into Zippo and flinging him back, Zippo takes 14 Damage!


You and Zippo have initiative

[Roguewolf]

"Alright Zippo we got this! Light him up!" Zippo's flames tower once more. Zippo lobs a ball of flame, making contact with the blue Pokemon.

Ken:

The blue pokemon snorts and puffs and begins thrashing around once more. This time, Zippo isn't able to duck out of the way of the flailing, blue, stubby limbs and takes 23 Damage vs. Def!

The quadruped staggers back and Slim growls at it "Come on, you can do better than that, fight him!" The whip snakes out and tags the pokemon on it's derriere, it squeaks in surprise before attempting to bodily bowl over Zippo pushing him away for 10 Damage!

Zippo's flames continue towering, lobbing yet another fire ball at the Pokemon, blackening the skin where it makes contact.

Ken:

The blue pokemon looks weak! it tries to kick itself up into a frenzying flurry again, but it's leg goes out from under it and it rolls to a heap in front of it's trainer. The whip snakes out again, this time kissing the pokemon's forehead before it's recalled.

"slim' starts to reach for Yanma's ball again, hesitates, shrugs, and goes for it.

The Yanma reappears. The whip cracks "Higher! being sporting is for suckers!"

The Yanma rises nearly ten meters off the ground. it's wings begin buzzing angrily the shock-wave comes crashing down.... several meters to Zippo's left.

Zippo has initiative.


OOC: The GM points out that, barring some very creative thinking, Yanma is capable of hovering well outside Zippo's range, while attacking with impunity.

[Falconette]

(Didn't realize that they showed up the next morning, retconning Lys noticing them before.)

Lys wakes up to the hubbub of a battle.

"Ugh, can't you guys keep it down like for one morning--"

Then sees the two pokemon having at each other.

"Oh. Right. Trainer...stuff. Or whatever."

Lys turns over and tries some semblance of going back to sleep........not really.

[Roguewolf]

That's really high up..... Just a bit out of reach and he can keep throwing those sonic booms as he pleases! Gotta think, gotta think! Then it hits Ken. "Zippo, time for some cover!"

Zippo spews forth a black cloud of smoke, cloaking him once more. "Alright! Now you know what to do buddy!" In the midst of the cloud, Zippo burrows underground for cover and burrows as far from the cloud as he can get.

OOC: Zippo uses Smoke Screen!

Ken:


The Yanma descends, only hovering just out of arms reach, and stares at the hole in the ground.

Slim crosses his arms "and just how long do you plan to hide?"

[Roguewolf]

Ken thinks for a moment. Then he responds to Slim. "Not very long. NOW!"

Zippo pops up from underground and lobs a fire ball at the overgrown bug.

The yanma writhes in pain from the flaming missile, but a crack of Slim's whip restores it's focus and it barrels into Zippo for 30 damage vs. DEF! flinging the tiny fire type away

"Zippo!"
The tiny Cyndaquil stands back up and rushes the Yanma once more cloaked in flame, blackening and smoking the carapace on contact.

Ken:

The bug dives to the ground in desperation, barely avoiding Zippo's attack, it then scuttles a half step before taking flight and rushing into Zippo again, flinging the hard-fighting Cyndaquil to the ground, dealing 29 damage!

[Roguewolf]

As Zippo falls, Ken calls him back to his pokeball. "Looks like you win Slim. Good match!" Ken takes out the $500 that he owes Slim and hands it to him. "Thought I had you there for a minute but guess I'm spending time at the Pokémon Center." Ken lets out a short laugh.

[PK-Leon]

"Hmm... I think Zippo would have won it if that Ember had connected." Tyson thinks aloud as he finishes his breakfast. "Either way, it's time to do some training so we can get on the road."

After he changes he'll go find a spot to train. Along the way he calls out to Lys, "Hey sleeping beautifly, you should probably consider getting up soon. Civilization is just over the horizon remember?"

Ken:

"It's Sarus." He corrects you, "You didn't do bad, in fact" he says, glaring at his Yanma "You've made it clear that I must pay stricter attention to teaching better decision making."

He walks back over to his green-jacketed companion "Do you wanna stick around or move on?" Big-guy heads back toward the road. "We could be halfway to pewter by the time fuchsia boy over there is ready to go, come on."

Looks like he didn't want to wait... Tyson shrugs. He releases his pokemon and begins his training regiment.

OOC: Training has already been done in a previous post.

Tyson returns with Kasumi on his shoulder. "So, we ready to get going?" He asks the party.

[Roguewolf]

"Sorry about that, nice to meet you Sarus, I'm Ken." He holds out his hand to shake if Sarus accepts. "Hopefully we met again for a rematch down the road!"

As Tyson finishes training, Ken will revive Zippo and bandage him up. "Yeah, I think we're good to go. You did awesome out there buddy!" Ken hugs Zippo tight but not so much that it hurts the Pokémon.

Party:

Elliot glances over at Tyson and stands up from where he and his pokemon were sitting, they seemed to be having a staring contest. All three of his pokemon disappear in a red flash.

"I am ready to proceed at the behest of the group." He says.

[InTheMachine]

After the excitement of the morning battle, Cassandra starts to pack up her tent and other things, then recalls all of her pokemon except for Reks. The Oracle knew her starter was still recovering from yesterday's battle with the Beedrill. Even though Raum wanted to be out, she thought he could still use the rest.

"Alright guys. Ready to go when you are."

Party:

You set off on the packed dirt road to Pewter City, the morning passes without incident, and you're pretty sure you're shadowing Sarus and his green-clad friend, you keep seeing a pair of trainers only a few miles ahead of you on the road. You can see more trainers scattered along the road behind you, but you don't recognize any of them.

After a few hours, you reach the outskirts of Pewter City

The Buildings are done in a fairly uniform faux-stone construction, although many of the older buildings are constructed of actual slabs of rock fitted and mortared together, all in all the town itself is rather drab.

this is contrasted to a fair degree by it's people, who seem to prefer very brightly colored clothes.

On the road...

"Looks like we're not the last ones to make it to Pewter..." Tyson says aloud as the party walks down the road. "But I'd be willing to bet we're definitely not among the first."

A thought comes to mind and a grin begins to form on his face.

"Hey Ken, how much do you wanna bet Lucille's already challenged the Pewter City gym? ...Either that or she's on the way to."

Upon arrival...

Tyson pulls out his Pokedex after the party's chime in unison. "What's that all about? You think it's like the check-in from before?"

As they wind through the streets the ninja boy keeps an eye open for the Pokemon Center, places of interest, or any people of note.

"Definitely a change of scenery huh Kasumi?" He places the Froakie on his head. "Let's try to enjoy ourselves while we're here." Turning to the party he continues. "I don't know if you guys had any other plans but I'm probably going to drop my pokemon off at the Pokemon Center then take a tour of the city today. I don't see any reason to rush to take on the gym, we just got here afterall."

[Roguewolf]

On the road,

Ken looks behind them to see the trainers coming up the road. He's carrying Zippo in his arms rather than setting him on his shoulder. "Definitely not among the first but we made pretty good time with those behind us.

As Tyson mentions Lucy and her immediate need to move without stopping Ken's face contorts a little then regains his composed face. "I'm not really one for taking bets I'll definitely lose!" He lets out a laugh as he finishes. "Definitely on the way too if not already done."

Ken turns to Elliot. "You feeling alright?"

On Arrival

Ken takes out his pokedex as it chimes as well. "Probably. At least they like to check up on us!"

Ken keeps an eye open for the Pokemon Center, since that's where he's most interested in heading for first. Gotta get Zippo and Aria taken care of. The thought repeats in his head.

When Tyson explains his plan, Ken will agree. "Yeah, no need to rush right in. Actually I need to go top the Center first as well. Anywhere in particular anyone wants to go?" Ken is still holding Zippo in his arms. Zippo chirps happily at being carried.

[InTheMachine]

"I totally agree with you guys," Cassandra says as the boys mention going to the Pokemon Center and then exploring the town. "We're not in any rush. I actually want to see if I can find someone to trade that Duskull I caught in the forest."

She jumps when her pokedex chimes in her pocket. The Oracle blushes a little, then pulls the device out.

[Falconette]

Lys looks over at Cassandra with confusion.

"You're gonna trade it away? Why catch it in the first place?"

Cheshette mrowls for attention from Lys' shoulder.

"I mean. Seems like a lot of effort to catch a thing if you don't plan to keep it."
