Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Hmm, seems someone has a shiny magic ring on both fingers. Bought, or stolen?
I gave up fighting, and stabbing and bludgeoning and stealing and bar-brawls and wenches . . . and it was the worst 10 rounds of my life - Jerry the Country & Western Bard.
WHY ISN'T HE JOLLY???

Belkar's still pretty impetuous - but that's to be expected.

Belkar will be just fine. He has more tricks than Roy can expect. Besides he deserve a slice of the fun.
Also first page, first time.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
The ending surprised me. I thought Belkar would be the one to throw the alchemist's fire.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Wait, didn't Belkar use a similar item when he was thrown out the window by Greg?
A ring of feather fall, or something? I don't remember exactly. Gotta go check.
Edit: Yes he did! (panel 7)Last edited by Nemeean_lion; 2016-09-21 at 09:12 AM.

Awesome. Roy is acting like a biased narrow minded manager here. Roy needs to see Becker continues to learn and evolve. Has Roy bought a device of feather fall yet?

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
At last, belkar reveals the newest trick in his repertoire to the others.
What's next, a hidden class feature?
I wonder how exactly this is going to go wrong for him. Or right, for that matter.
Because just how fun is him winning, from the Giant's POV?
Thank you for reading this, and I hope you have a better day!

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Any bets that he has and it is the one Belkar is using? [Of course Roy should have known when the Belkster survived the last fall]
Anybody know the CR of frost giants? How many can fight a halfling at once (plenty at range, but Belkar doesn't fight that way)? I'm guessing this is to give some tension considering that only one character can be said not to have plot armor.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
And this is why we love our evil little Belkar. Leaping off of airships to stab frost giants in the toe, like only he can.
Though on a serious note, why hasn't he upgraded one of his weapons to a shortsword? 1d6 damage, and with size rules, he could still dual-wield them with a dagger in his off-hand just fine.Last edited by JumboWheat01; 2016-09-21 at 09:26 AM.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Doesn't really matter, they're CR 9, but they're also Large Size Category, Belkar is Small Size Category, and most of them are using rocks, meaning they can't hit him, he can flank them, slice slice slice, stab stab stab, kill kill kill, mountains run red (or blue, or whatever color Frost Giant blood is) with Giant Blood.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Ring of Featherfall ... didn't he get that back when they first split loot (and Roy got his Bag of tricks) ... or was that a ring of Jumping?

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Rangers had martial weapon proficiency in 3.5, which short swords are a part of. (Edit: Plus he's at least 1st level Barbarian, they also have martial weapon proficiency.) Now if it was Kukri, that would make sense he wouldn't know how. And it's not like V with a bow, Belkar clearly has the stats, one-way-or-another, to use his melee weapons.
Plus it's a stabbing weapon. What's to understand about poke-poke-stab?Last edited by JumboWheat01; 2016-09-21 at 09:50 AM.

Re: OOTS #1053 - The Discussion Thread
Ring of Feather Fall confirmed! Wow, Rich plans things ahead!
Of course, is this the battle where Belkar falls, never to rise again? I doubt it, but then again... Game of Thrones. Thanks to Ceika (X2), Yeril, Holammer and Dr. Bath for the Avatars!
New Avatar, new form of self-destruction! Ceika is Beyond Awesome!

He's not even on panel, he says nothing, but Belkar still manages to make us laugh in the last panel.
