We really should have seen that coming. Looks like the Giant can cast Epic Invisibility on his plot twists.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Ouch, that's a big axe.
Hope she won't be known as Halfey anytime soon.
Also, they are in the mountains and ahead of the ship. And V's facing well-protected-against-magic-damages enemy... time to drop the brick and unleash SONIC! ?"...As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero."

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
I'm surprised the clerics gave away their position with such a feeble attack. That strategy seems a little...batty. *cough*

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Please, V, with all that knowledge and arcane power, you rely on Magic Missile, which at your level has already been capped out to five pitiful pew-pews, to swat a giant bat? At least empower it!

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
What are the rules on demigods, by the way? Could Thrym himself get involved in this battle?

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Spoiler"The really unforgivable acts are committed by calm men in beautiful green silk rooms, who deal death wholesale, by the shipload, without lust, or anger, or desire, or any redeeming emotion to excuse them but cold fear of some pretended future. But the crimes they hope to prevent in the future are imaginary. The ones they commit in the present--they are real." --Aral Vorkosigan
Yes, exactly.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Talking is still a free action right, so all this dialogue won't take away from V's time available to cast spells?
Atleast Haley isn't dead from that massive hit.

Ouch, the hit Haley took looked pretty painful. On the other hand, the invisibility purge effect on her in the panel prior looked really cool.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Definitely a
moment.
Hopefully V can pull something off, and/or Belkar arrives to help.
Anyone else think that greataxe might have a frost/icy burst enchantment, due to the mist it's giving off?

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
I love when the title makes sense only after you read the comic. Things are getting interesting and we'll see how V and Haley manage to escape.

This battle's getting real.
[So, apparently, is Blackwing's contribution to the party.]Last edited by Jay R; 2016-10-24 at 10:41 AM.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Aw man...
Sometimes I wonder if our DM is going easy on us for never using glitterdust or invisibility purge against our invisibility or if they just don't have the finesse to prepare such spells...Last edited by chy03001; 2016-10-24 at 10:45 AM.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Magic Missile has the advantage of never missing and the potentially even greater advantage of being a point-target effect. If V prepared for this trip by preparing mostly Fireball spells (a highly logical choice given that any fight will be at range and that so many ice creatures are weak to fire) then V might not have anything else that doesn't risk roasting an ally.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Ooo the giant clerics look cool!
I love the frost giant art in general.
Unfortunately, they're bent on destroying our clerically-challenged heroes.
Time for the Belkster to interrupt some spellcasting methinks (since Haley is out of commission).

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
So, confirmation that this is Thrym.
The Greatest Threads Of GiantITP (in my opinion):
A story of the exact wrong way to run a campaign.
The best thread derailment of all time.
The "canonical" list of Mostly Useless Magic Items.
A ridiculous campaign.
Weird dreams.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
If Belkar gets close then Haley can flank! But yeah, clerics will definitely put a crimp in a rogue's merry rampage.

Re: OOTS #1056 - The Discussion Thread
Haste makes waste. Haley would have been better off if she had stood off and peppered the caster, disrupting spell casting from outside spell, and certainly melee range. She deviated from the perfectly serviceable plan of her finishing off softened up targets provided by V and now pays the iron price.
Given that their primary enemy (Xykon) is a primary caster you'd hope they would have anti-caster strategy more thoroughly ingrained.

So did the giants also remove Haley's flight or just invisibility?
