    Wuh-oh, again.

Also again: another example of Pellan apparently being either really ignorant or... out of touch. Could go either way, really.

(BTW, I haven't had any trouble seeing this or the previous comics).

Well, Shoreward, you had my interest, but now you have my attention.

I like how people are trying to put together the pieces of lore we get to build the world out of those. Reminds me a bit of Dark Souls' lore-building being mostly done through item descriptions.

For the main characters, really digging Pellan, he sort of reminds me of Goblin Slayer. Flame's got some nice counter-balance for Cat's optimism, and Ardelie's backstory probably will eventually catch up with the group, but sounds interesting, since she's not exactly mean or anything.

As for spoopy-horns McGee, I'm guessing he and Pellan are both birds of a feather (or bone? Definitely bone) and similarly cursed, possibly linked together, kinda like how Barbossa's crew were cursed in PotC: The Black Pearl, unable to undo it because of the missing gold coin. Maybe the armor Pellan is so protective of has something to do with it?

Gosh, well, thanks. It's a hard balance to strike between giving people too little and giving them too much. I wasn't sure if I was pulling it off. It sounds like I'm right on the fringe of the latter, which to me is a better place than the former.

Like I've said before, it's always a screaming temptation dump all the information I have in a heap at your feet, but I'd prefer if it only happened when it felt natural. It helps that you (the audience) aren't supposed to know some of it yet, so I can get away with drip-feeding parts of it while expositing small pieces of the general info and watching to see how close you get without me saying anything directly. I've the benefit of being able to see how people react in real-time and adjust. This is also a curse.

It's why I bust my backside trying not to reveal anything or answer any serious comic questions in the thread. I’d prefer to watch, see what people don’t understand, and then add the answer into the comic directly if they’re supposed to know. Let the work stand on its own as much as it can. Also, the thread has a tendency to go quiet for a few days after I post anything which isn't a comic.

No comment on the speculations from me. That'd be spoilers.

Which begs the question: Do you have the story already planned out in your head/written down in a document or are you making stuff up as you go? Given the amount of consistence thus far, I'm guessing it's the former.

I've planned out the important, specific points in advance, as well as a couple of the things which need to happen for those to make sense. Other than that, I'm filling a lot of the gaps as I go, (making additional, shorter-frame plans if I have to) which is easier to do when you know where things need to lead. This is how I plan most of what I write these days. It's a living document based on a simple road-map. A skeleton, if you'll permit the joke. We may go on detours, but we're still heading to a few key destinations along the way.

I actually lost all of my planning when my computer exploded at the start of the year, but I remembered enough to be able to recreate it with only slight alterations to minor things. It helps that the story is so heavily based on a few essential points.

The way I plan my stories, the only great loss was the world document which, yes, I also rebuilt. Luckily, nothing is true until it hits the page, so I was able to recover from that as well.

Pellan almost sounds as if he rather wouldn't be there.
Maybe we will learn something about his dark secrets from this.

Also, Cat is so going to regret those words.
And I don't think it will be because of Ardelie or Bortha.

I just read the comic and I feel like this should be the tagline of it.

I love the expressions and designs of the characters. As for Ardelie and the Margio, I think she might have been a part of it. I mean, there's nothing to say that one can't get branded in different areas, and her tongue was cut out which didn't seem all that typical, or if it was, would have been convenient to get rid of a valuable enemy.

That, and Ardelie is really carrying this party, criminal or not.

Pretty sure whenever someone hires mercenaries and becomes unusually interested in meeting a person of the opposite sex it is probably bad news. When have the heroes ever done that sort of thing? Heroes don't give money, they befriend people with interesting backstories who fight for them for free and try to boink anything regardless of race.

Also, for all we know all of the Stormfallen are corrupt. I mean, having people fall out of the sky is no basis for a system of government. Cataletta might have just fallen on her head or something.

I wonder if, since they seem to have a class system for Stormfallen, they also say "Oh, you're not a real stormfallen" if you only have like one blue finger, considering that as far as we can see, Cat's only got a blue arm and eyes (And she is only third level, apparently).

Also looking back to how Cat went "UNLIMITED POWER AHAHAHAHAHA" fighting those bandits, I wonder if the higher rank you've got, the more "storm-devil"-like you become in battle.

Also, I agree that choosing people to rule on the basis that "they fell out of the sky" is very, very poor form of government.

Well, I think she also has blue hair, as that doesn't seem to be a natural tone for anyone yet.

Through why limit yourself to battle? Make your fleets fast and conquer the world. Change the weather to your liking. Use the winds to spy on people. Okay, I see your point, lighting without a sufficiently advanced culture is only going to have so many applications.

I wonder if their society isn't advanced because Stormfallen run around burning everything. "Hey guys, look at what I can shoot out of my 'lightning rod'!"

Cata, not Creepo. I assume that if no one has made a big deal of it, it is a perfectly natural hair color for Stormfallen. Or maybe Cata got into a vat of dye...

Through given the amount of respect these people can command, this might actually be a setting where you can't dye yourself legally.

Hey now. The correct terminology is mad scientist.

It would be interesting to know how the various ranks of Stormfallen look, if there are differences between individuals and wether the changes compared to normals are more than skin-deep.
    Just how do they work?

I would get into so much trouble in this world...

This one made me cackle like a maniac, for some reason.

Also yeah I'm now leaning towards the idea that most Stormfallen are more like this guy than they are like Cat.

Check this game out! Or at least give it a thumbs up.
Why "because the plot said so" is not a good answer.
