I'm impressed by Cataletta's confidence in Pellan.
Less so by her assessment of his situation though...

To me, it looks like if Pellan didn't have to worry about that sword so much, he'd be doing way better.

I've gone from worrying about Mr. sunshine to worrying about Pellan. This fight has been ongoing, sure, but we've seen Pellan weaponless before.
Mr.causticslice is probably thinking that he's freeing Pellan from a cursed existence.
Which is technically true, but Pellan's hoping for other options.

"Mr Sunshine" seems like a pretty legitimately honorable guy to me, at least from what we've seen so far. I don't think he'd be okay with that.

If he was truly „honourable” he wouldn't use a sword that can melt steel.
Nah. The duel's pretty much a farce and Mr. Sunshine's nothing but Vis pawn.
What happens when Pellan wins despite the deck being stacked against him depends on how much Vis (feels he) can get away with.
Even with the duel being public and Cat being there I don't trust Smurfface not to try something.

Maybe? But why is Vis so interested in this fight? I doubt his reputation hangs in the balance, else he likely wouldn't have allowed the undead abomination to have any sort of trial to muck about with his plans. Or just killed him for shouting at the trial. And yet, he is watching intently. If Lord Smurfen Von Fussybutt really disliked Cataletta, he could have tried to throw her under the wagon for associating with criminals AND undead. The Right of Heights would have been HER neck, after all. But while he does seem angry at her at times, it seems to stem more from annoyance than actually wanting to hurt her.

I'm wondering if Lord Smurfen Von Fussybutt is testing either his champion, the sword, or Cataletta. I mean, letting one of your Stormfallen march off and get killed or taken hostage is going to be a blight on their reputation...But if he can fight off a guy with a magic sword, maybe he'd be useful elsewhere, especially when you have a mute criminal on the loose...And maybe Cataletta is on to something. She does get weird visions, after all, and they are enough to convince non-Fallen, which can either make her useful, or really dangerous.

Well, I don't think Vis is evil or anything like that, mostly just a stuck-up jerk. Believe me, there is much less overlap between the two than you'd think.

Also, to be honest... imagine a death knight waltzing straight into a church of Pelor and tell me people WOULDN'T act something like that, if less douchy.

Hey now, I'm all aboard for the idea that Lord Smurfington the Third is upset at Cataletta dragging in YET ANOTHER PROBLEM for him, but we haven't seen if he's evil or not. His frustration at Cat doesn't mean he is evil, but we haven't seen enough of him to discount that, either.

Cat kinda makes me think the Fallen are young again*.
Two people hing to hold her back is great though.
    "She's alright" indeed Pellan.

*I mean, sure, that behaviour isn't that unusual in this kinda story, but it's another bit where a Stormfallen comes off as kind of childish.
So they're either younger than they look, are absurdly sheltered or hit their heads when they fell.

I was under the impression that Cataletta was very young and VEEEEEERY sheltered. She has a belief in legends, which implies immaturity but also a lot of free time on her hands to dedicate to the scholarly arts. Her reveling that those of the Third Falling are only trained to replace those of higher tier might imply that she's too valuable to lose, but not respected enough to trust or listen to.

I wish the subforum was as active as it used to be. If you set it to show threads from the beginning, there are seven pages of fancomics sadly long gone. Sometimes it feels like a couple lemonade stands set up in a graveyard.
