Honestly, we're getting to a point where the only thing separating Pellan from your basic tsundere archetype is that he's obviously incapable of blushing.

I'm sure we'll be seeing those two again, lanterbearer and mute. But what caught me by surpise was Pellan's growth.
I wonder how much further he'l go?
Also, did anyone else notice that the first panel is a direct transition from the last panel of last time's comic?

Slightly unorthodox post, but I've been working on something. I've had rough drafts of this since before chapter two, but I've never had one presentable as anything other than a notational map before.

You can actually see that the 'totally inaccurate map' Pellan is holding on page eleven is a map of the basin. So... I made this to give you all something pretty and at least mostly more accurate to look at between pages. This obviously doesn't have everything on it (even the town they started in isn't) but I've made sure to mark at least some of the more major locations. Kadalesk is a weird one because it's technically the same place as the skystone, so it doesn't have an icon.

This map is a lot bigger than the scope of the story itself, so think of it more as a world map. I made sure to put it in the archive ahead of the first page, since having the map at the front is like, mandated by the Fantasy Police or something. I think I read that somewhere, anyway.

In any case, this isn't mandatory reading or anything, it's just some fun peripheral material while you all wait for the next page. Sorry it's been compressed a bit - I didn't have any control over that when I uploaded it.

Good heavens, Shoreward, this is magnificent! And most certainly deserves a place in the front-page post, no question!
For the record, little peripheral posts and tidbits show the care that makes comics like this truly stand out! We would all love to see more, I'm sure.

It's not a proper fantasy story until there's a map.

So what do the icons mean? Are they flags, or...?

Also they are now in Dovis, right? In the city of *checking* Kadalesk, I can't find the city on the map. I thought it was an important place like a capital or a religious center but apparently not.

Also "the Gullet", well that totally sounds like a nice place to go.

Kadalesk is on the map, but as I noted, it was hard to fit an icon on there when the skystone marker already dominated the place it'd be in. You can see the label for Kadalesk next to it in the basin near the center-left part of the map. The entirety of the story after page one so far has taken place in this area, not counting flashbacks, which I think puts the scale into perspective a bit as to why some things didn't fit on the map.

As for the icons, they're relevant symbols or colours for the major places marked. Sadly I couldn't fit all the details, which is probably for the best as even at this size the image host already compresses it.

Still, at least it all does its job of looking pretty.

No, I don't know why the adjective for "suitable for the situation" and the verb for "take without permission" are homographs.
