Always nice to see new people hopping into the discussion! I really should think about making more banners.

Update! A bit of a busy weekend coming so I'm throwing this out here even earlier than usual.

    And so the heist begins.
Personally, I wasn't expecting her to attempt to break open the cell.
And at least now we know that Pellan can sort of close his eyes.
Interesting. I have high hopes for this story still, shoreward. But you've met so many already.
I wonder what it will take to have Bortha go along with our little group.
Ah, well. Nothing that waiting for the next incredibly detailed comic can't solve.
Please just re-read my past compliments and mentally add them to this space. They're still valid.

I'd actually been wondering what this guy would have to contribute that would justify the rest of the party not just cutting him loose as deadweight.

    Now this is interesting.
Another incredibly detailed update, with this one in particular being especially worth seeing.
It seems pellan does have some sort of undead's ethereal equivalent of a heart after all.

Right now, exactly one thing: a way out of the camp. After that, who knows. If Pellan's a man of his word (plot demands he is), he is now obligated to help The Flame. And then he might be more helpful.

However, will the flame bite? will he burn bright again?

I doubt it will be an easy transition to good times again for the FotE, heartbreak and depression don't work that way. however, that doesn't mean he can't give it a shot, and put his feelings aside so that he could find her again, perhaps under different circumstances he might not have been rejected as harshly, who knows?

but odds are slim, as he could easy be rejected yet again. then what will he do?

Well, even if you don't count the annoyance factor of getting robbed, Pellan really needs his armor back. It's not like this is D&D and Disguise Self is easy to get, after all, and we've seen what happens when people see his face.

Also, the Flame had the key all along?! And he didn't use it?! No wonder they're so frustrated at him.

Good point. I had also thought this was Pellan just being a little... 'obsessive' again, but yeah, he does actually need that armor. (And Bortha is just the worst.)

Edit: Though now that I think about it, I guess it's a fair question as to whether Pellan has actually thought that through...

Also, the link didn't work for me this time - I had to view the post's source in order to find the comic.

Post Re: Cursed, of Course: A Fantasy Comic

I find it disturbing that kantaki and I agree on something,
at least when it comes to this.
The idea of Pellan looting the thieves appeals to kantaki due to loot.
It appeals to me because it deny's the thieves any resources.
When the necromancer and the paladin agree on something, that's when evil should run.
Now, to commence my usual thanks to shoreward for such a detailed comic, worthwhile story,
and for taking the time to create it.
On that note, did anyone else notice how happy cataletta was to see him free?
I realize that my posts have been rather repetitive at this point, lacking any real individuality.
    I apologize.
To counter this, my next post will be on the origins of why I enjoy this comic as much as I do!
If I can. Honestly I'm not sure if I should, because I get the feeling it would just annoy people.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope you have a nice existence!

    Loot?
    Who said anything about loot?
The bandits' stuff is firewood as far as I'm concerned.
    This isn't about loot.
    It's about payback.
    And sending a message.
Steal from me and everything you own will turn to ash.
That's far more important than some pathetic loot.

What is a adventurer without reputation?
Building and/or maintaining a fearsome reputation is clearly worth loosing out on a bit loot.
If you can even call the junk you find in the average bandit camp loot.

Most of it is completely useless; and even if you sell it you make less than if you just collect some plants in the forest.
Burning it to make a point is doubtlessly the far superior alternative.

Meh, I think the despair when they see everything* they own piled together into a huge pyre, burning brightly in the night, as they slowly realize that this inferno consumes everything they have and that there's no way to save even the tiniest piece of string is far sweeter than anything mere theft could possibly cause.
With enough skill you can even spell out a message with the fire.

But yeah, since most adventurers insist on their loot I'm usually willing to compromise and set only my share of the treasure pile on fire.

    *And I mean everything.
