Default [d20 Modern] Any Dark•Matter players? If so...

Have you played or run a Dark•Matter game? How does the system mesh with the d20 Modern rules? It seems similar in concept with CoC d20, but more paranormal/conspiracy and less elder gods. I'm likely going to be starting up a game soon (1st time running Dark•Matter) and was wondering what other people thought of it.

Thumbs up Re: [d20 Modern] Any Dark•Matter players? If so...

I played a D20 Darkmatter game a while back. The DM had the original Alternity version and converted it to Modern on his own, that system is very similar to D20. Being an everyday Joe getting pwned by supernatural monsters wasnt quite my cup of tea, but it was enjoyable. Felt like an X-Files RPG.

The generic mechanics worked well with the system. We used a variant of Vitality starting at level one with only Wounds and getting smaller Vitality amounts than usual as we leveled to keep it gritty.

That's good to hear. One of the players is an X-Files nut and will probably enjoy the system. I'll try to make it less lethal than a CoC game. Did you use purchase DCs or actual money?

Purchase DCs. Takes some getting used to but it works.
