Buy magic items for thier animal companions. I for one always do just because it increases thier survivability and with the right items we get another fighter in the party.

The issue of magic items for the animal companion of a VoP Druid once came up. The GM decided that if someone gave the items to the animal then it could keep them but my character couldn't just give the items to the familiar from his share.

That's the only druid I have ever played but it makes sense to boost the animal companion's combat ability. I mean, why just use spells to do it?

Due to the "items become non-functional" rules of wildshape, I'd expect it's pretty common. Why waste money on a +2 ring of protection for yourself (that won't work when you're wildshaped) when you can put it on your dire ape instead?

Think my python had a +1 collar of protection or something that we actually found during an adventure.
