Pythians are a race of snake-like humanoids, distant kin of the Lizardfolk. Savage and powerful, they dwell in isolated villages, hunting and gathering for food. Pythians, being extremely isolationist and xenophobic by nature, rarely come into contact with other humanoid races, but will relentlessly attack in humanoid settlements that encroach on their villages in an attempt to drive them off. Pythians resemble lizardfolk, but are larger and more muscular, and their scale patterns tend to have patterns like that of a boa constrictor. They have a long, thick tail, and sharp, venom-laden fangs. The Pythian above had the following stats before applying racial modifiers: Str 13, Dex 11, Con 12, Int 9, Wis 10, Cha 8.

    Poison (Ex)
A Pythianís fangs are laden with a potent venom. The poison has a DC of 15, and both initial and secondary damage of 1d6 Constitution damage. The save is Constitution-based.

    Swallow Whole (Ex)
A Pythian can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of Medium or smaller size by making a successful grapple check. Once inside, the opponent takes 1d4+1 points of crushing damage plus 1d4+1 points of acid damage per round from the Pythianís digestive juices. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by dealing 2 points of damage/HD of the Pythian to its digestive tract (AC 11). Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out. A Pythianís gullet can hold 1 Medium, 4 Small, or 16 Tiny or smaller creatures. A Pythian that has swallowed a creature is treated as being one step more encumbered than normal.

    Powerful Build (Ex)
A Pythianís large, muscular build allows it to function any many ways as a larger creature. Whenever a Pythian receives a size modifier to a check, such as a grapple or trip check, it is treated as being one size larger if that would be advantageous to it. It is treated as one size larger when determining whether special attacks based on size, such as improved grapple or swallow whole, can affect it. It can use weapons and items made for creatures up to one size larger than it without penalty. Its carrying capacity is determined as if it were one sizes larger. This ability stacks with other effects that would increase a Pythianís size.

    Skills
Pythians have a +8 racial bonus on all Survival checks made to track by scent.

    Pythians as PC's
Pythian characters possess the following racial traits:

    • +6 Str, +2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Int, -2 Cha
    • A Pythian's base land speed is 30 ft.
    • +2 natural armor.
    • Racial Hit Die: A Pythian begins with six levels of Monstrous Humanoid, which gives it 6d8 Hit Dice, a +6 BAB, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +5.
    • Racial Skills: A Pythian's Monstrous Humanoid levels give it skill points equal to 9 x (2 + Intelligence modifier). Its class skills are Listen, Spot, and Survival.
    • Racial Feats: A Pythian's Monstrous Humanoid levels give it three feats. In addition, a Pythian gains Track as a racial bonus feat.\
    • Poison: See above.
    • Swallow Whole: See above.
    • Darkvision 60 ft.
    • Powerful Build: See above.
    • Scent
    • Automatic Languages: Draconic. Bonus Languages: Common, Elven, Goblin, Gnoll, Orc.
    • Favored Class: Barbarian.
    • Level Adjustment: +2

I no longer actively read the forums, and probably won't respond to any PMs. I'm fine with people using my homebrew in anything, including fan-compilations and wikis, as long as you credit me.

I like the concept. Would be fun to use as a PC, swallowing the BBEG whole

You gave it LA+2 but make no mention of Pythian PCs. Are there racial ability adjustments? Special abilities? Racial Hit Dice?

Yep, you can figure it out from the stat block. Was too lazy to do a Pythians as PC's bit.
