Question Reliable English to Japanese Dictionary

I googled for an English to Japanese dictionary, and picked the first one I could find. Unfortunately, the word I wanted translated had ten different equivalents .

The word I want translated is shadow (as in the one connected to your feet).

I also want to know what online dictionary you rely on.

    Thank you.

Well, Im in the process of learning japanese so I could suggest
    learn-japanese.info
Search about, you might find shadow. As for a translator, I couldn't find a good one and after w while gave up.

    I think shadow is 'Kage'

If you really want to use it a lot I would suggest the bonjinsha/oxford hard cover. I like mine pretty well.

    Online:
    http://kanjidict.stc.cx
This translates phrases and words back and forth between English and Nihongo. It also links to an actual kanji dictionary.

    If you want a book:
    Spahn & Hadamitzky's Learner's Kanji Dictionary
This is all kanji, but it has numerous entries for kanji phrases that represent more complex words as well.

    My favorite is http://www.romajidesu.com/

By the way, shadow indead has many meaning in Japanese.

    http://www.romajidesu.com/dictionary...of-shadow.html

But I think the most popular is 'kage' (影), I can tell because it has some sample sentences and many senses.

I'm proud to know your name means rainbow cat!

I studied Japanese for 8 semesters (and I still study ever day). I'm not fluent by any means, but... I may come in handy.

And that is a GOOD thing by any definition.
