Xcrawl
Are many people here familiar with the Xcrawl setting or would be willing to explore it?
I've built a crawl in Roll 20 and thought it'd make a good one shot with pre-gens.

Re: Xcrawl
Xcrawl is a modern setting dnd adventuring as an extreme spectator sport kinda game. Think dream park without the need for vr? You can do it more campy or more gritty to match your tastes.

Re: Xcrawl
If you've ever seen the old Schwarzenegger movie "The Running Man" its a lot like that but with professional teams of dungeon crawlers competing for fame and prizes instead of convicted criminals, but sometimes there's both.
LSS: Fantasy society progressed technologically and Dungeon crawling became unnecessary as a societal normality. But it was still romanticized in games and a type of Larp/Combat sport called X-Crawl developed. Custom built dungeons, populated by hired or captured foes and deadly traps traversed by corporate sponsored teams as a bloodsport. Wide range of thematic possibilities.

Re: Xcrawl
In my mind it's got some Grit and behind the scenes drama but is mostly like a Game Show, with a Baritone announcer calling off the prizes while a couple of frantic commentators give a play by play of the action.
"It looks like Throg has decided to Rage....That's a bold move Cotton, lets see how it works out for him."
Kind of like Battlebots with humans.

Re: Xcrawl
I played a barbarian in a Dungeon World game that was sert in Xcrawl it was pretty fun to ham it up for the crowd and have all these behind the scene interactions with competing teams.
