Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
Nice Comic! But somehow not really satisfying. Have to wait for the Haley translation to get the laughs.

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
hee hee, excellent comic!
I think the translations are:
"I guess there's no point in me asking a question"
Then
"You can understand me?"
then
"Huh?"
I guess the oracle didn't have to wait long! ;)

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
Text is kinda small this time. Is it "R FJWHH QDWAW'H MX ARXMQ"? That doesn't work in my decoding....

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
Funny Stuff
I think even dealing with a credit agency provokes attacks of oportunity, or as I like to call them "specially selected to be preaproved yadda yadda 0% yadda"

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
Ha, the credit check joke was great! (I love those D&D technical jokes)
Here's my attempt at translating Haley without decrypting the code (just guessing based on word length and the oracle's replies):
"I guess there's no point in me asking a question"
"You can understand me?"
"huh?"
EDIT: bah, you guys beat me to it. Anyway, I guess this means I was correct at least :)

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
hee hee, no electrum. I always thought electrum was dumb. I mean, yes, it is a naturally occurring mix of gold and silver but, come on. If you're going to mint it you need to smelt it, and they have different smelting properties, so they'd come apart. For jewelry or decorative daggers, sure. Electrum can be really pretty. But not coins. That's just lazy minters.

And a teaser for the long-term readers: Looks like the Linear Guild story-line is coming back soon. I've got to say, this is one of my favourites of recent times.

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
Credit check? You can get credit without a guarantour or securable assets in AD&D? The party have no land or buildings that can be seized or rich patron who will pay in the case of defaulting. The OotS universe has a banking system, rather than independent money lenders?
Yeah, I know. It's meant to be funny, not correct.Matthew Greet

Re: OOTS #330 - The Discussion Thread
No one ever wanted electrum.
I remember my old days in D&D... copper, silver, gold coins... we could understand those.
But what the hell was this electrum? And who needed a coin that was just worth half a gold one, and weighted the same?
By the way.. do you remember the coin-metric sistem in D&D for calculating weight? :)
PS: Who's Alex Trebek?

What a great way to start the day. A reptilian Alex Trebec, indeed.
Alex Trebek is the host of the popular American show Jepoardy. Trivia answers on the show are given in the form of a question.

Not as super funny as some of the latest strips, but some good jokes in that one. Got to love the...credit agencies always count as threatened joke.
None of us have tampered with the fundemental natural order when bored. That would be wrong.

Very nice. ;D I actually found that funnier than most of the last few, so as usual it's a mixed bag of opinions. Nice to see a lot of the fans' questions being answered -- like how Roy wasted his question and had to resort to violence ;)

Finally, a kobold as an important NPC.

Love the 'Your Voice' payment option and that credit checks always count as threatened!! LOL!
Also the 'you two are both late for family reunions' to Roy and Elan. Nice foreshadowing for them.argle bargle glop glyf?
