Playing at the table for the first time in years, advice please?
I've only played in person with about 2 groups when I first started playing in high school. Its been about five years since then. Any advice or general tips about playing face to face in a game shop and being a good player to a new group?
Furthermore I've been told two players are a father and his 18 year old son, the son is playing for the first time. So advice on how to help new players understand the game and feel welcome would also be appreciated!

Without knowing anybody, just bring the core rulebook and expect to have everything reviewed a lot at first.

Know the rules-at least well enough to get through combat and play your own character. Read through a couple of times for a refresher.
Be flexible and help the new people with rules, character building, etc. Don't hog the spotlight, particularly from the newbies.
Don't be a jerk.
