A sorcerer or wizard might desire summoned help rather than a familiar.

Gain

1/day extend the duration of a summon monster spell to 24 hours.

Lose

Familiar.

Unlike the acf that trades it for an animal companion but treats your level as half, this summons a monster that can be dispelled, amf'd, etc. While it may not scale in epic levels that's not usually a problem for full casters with access to epic spellcasting.

This idea is from my disappointment in the fact that summon monster only lasts for 1 round at level 1.

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before, either a reserve feat or a Pathfinder ability. I loved it then and I love it now, great work!
