Default Local Speakeasy: Home Brewing 3.X Voting Thread VI: Travel

Welcome one and all to the voting thread for the Local Speakeasy: Home Brewing 3.X Competition VI: Here, There,
    and Everywhere
. Voting will consist of each voter giving a first, a second, and a third place vote, as well as a vote for the categories of Most Original, Most Likely to See Play, and Best Use of Theme. Anyone can vote, and in fact, entrants must vote to qualify for victory.

A first place vote is worth three points, a second place vote is worth two points, and a third place vote is worth one point. Votes for the three other categories are each worth 1 point in their category. You may not vote for your own entry.

You are encouraged to include reason with your votes, though this is not absolutely required.

The entry that ends up with the most points wins the contest, and each category goes to the entry with the most votes in it.. Voting starts now and will continue until 11:59pm (Eastern Standard Time USA/Canada; GMT-5) on September 7th.

The link you posted goes to the old contest thread.

1st: Regalia of Saint Benedict Joseph. Perfect intersection of fun, flavour, and playability.

2nd: The Traveller. A short but sweet (both in lore and abilities) PrC that exactly matches the theme.

3rd: Fixed Sorcerer lists, for the sheer effort involved!

Most Original: Fixed Sorcerer Lists. Again, must have been a ton of work to brew up those spells!

Most Likely to See Play: Boots of Travelling. The quintessential Travel-themed items.

Best Use of Theme: Dave the Vagrant King. A very bittersweet backstory, like most Vestiges.

1st: The regalia of St Joseph, this one had me ROFL. Completely usable in a game, and I could see myself using it, possibly as an assassin type sent against some players, I mean who expects the old hobo with his can o' beans happens to be the one you were warned about?

2nd: Fixed Sorc Lists. While I do not like limiting spells, these all seemed rather good to me, and I loved what jorm (pardon my abbreviation) did with the schools and the new spells.

3rd: Oblivimancer's various traveling boots, and once I could also see myself passing the boots of improbable stair to a character with a low concentration, just to see their face when they lose a check to get where they are going and find themselves stuck in another time XD

Most Original: Jorm's Fixed Sorcerer Lists.

Most Likely to See Play: Oblivimancer's Travelling Boots. (Of course I love quick rogue/casters)

Best Use of Theme: Dave the Vagrant King. While I have not yet done anything (Dm/play/homebrew) with binders I loved the backstory!

All in All it was a tough decision, as all of the entries were rather nice.

Edit: Is July 14th an old date, or do people actually get that long to vote?

Well, it seems that life has deposited me here, yet again. Hopefully this time I get to stay a while, as I intend on revising some old homebrew.

    1) Dave the Vagrant King like calls to like and hobos must stick together. It made me smile, and the backstory was nicely done.

    2) Fixed Sorcerer lists it just feels right for sorcerers to have a running theme for their spell list, and these do it with elegance and power.

    3) The Traveler PrC very good use of theme and a good investment for any int based build, even perhaps worth the loss of caster levels for a wizard.

    Most original: protean swarm

Most likely to see play: traveling boots

Best use of theme: Dave the Vagrant King
My Homebrew (Free to use, don't even bother asking. PM me if you do, though; I'd love to hear stories).

Avatar done by me (It's Durkon redrawn as Salvador from Borderlands 2).

    Nod, get treat.

1: Dave, The Vagrant King. Liked the background on Dave.
2: Saint Joe's Swag. Simple and sweet hobo artifacts.
3: The Traveller. It's just as advertised. A great PrC for someone who travels.
Most original: Saint Joe's Swag. It's quite a varied set of items.
Most likely to see play: Travelling Boots. They're interesting and useful, plus they're easy to integrate into a campaign
Best use of theme: Traveling Boots. A number of the others were based on hoboes or vagrants, but these were definitely travel boots.
My username should have been HisHighestMinion, with an N. 15 is an unusual character limit.

Physics in D&D is only superficially similar to real world physics.
