Default New to mapmaking using Tiled, any advice?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here knew how to make decent looking maps with Tiled. I'm using Fire Emblem tilesets simply because I like the way they look, although I'd want any campaigns I run to have some influence from Fire Emblem in terms of plot as well. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew how to make maps that look like they belong in a game/are fun to play. My first map (pictured below) isn't very good looking, as the grass all looks the same, the roads don't meander, and I feel like it looks haphazard overall. When it comes to making mountains, rivers, caverns, castles, and towns, I'm just as lost. I'd appreciate any advice or references someone could give about this!
