Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Can anyone remember if we have seen the last dwarf before? there have been so many throughout Durkons arious flashbacks that I am uncertain.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
This is getting interesting. Roy may be able to use information about the prediction, assuming (as seems likely) that this is the dwarf in whom the previous HPoT confided. (Origin of PCs, but I am at work and cannot verify.)

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
I believe that the lamenting dwarf is Firuk Blackore, the temple brewmaster. He made a brief appearance in On the Origin of PCs.
Edit: More to the point, he questioned Hurak's attempt to "screw wit prophecy." Looks like his concern was justified.Last edited by Yxylu; 2017-08-29 at 10:47 AM. Reason: Others got there first, adding more info

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Awesome comic. I see Belkar is not above drinking and driving (the plot or otherwise).

The goal of any evil character: have their name expressed with curses and wailing, ideally by the ghost of Charlton Heston.

Belkar, you need to be a threat to nation(s) for that, up your game man.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Looks like the Order will get a crash course in the why of Durkon's banishment in the next strip. Wonder how Roy will react to finding out he was never told he'd doom them all if he came back?
Also?"No thanks, we're driving the plot." Was hilarious enough to make me physically laugh. But it got me again now that the NPC will be driving the plot next

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Looks like the Giant is about to cast "Summon plot exposition".
The fact that the Order knows more about Durkon's exile than Durkon does (both why it happened and that it is over) should make for an interesting resolution.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Nice strip. Is that Cousin Logann with the tray of beers? Are dwarfs supposed to go gray that young?
(Or maybe it's another case of how many hairstyles in a stick comic).

At least now I can get back to enjoying my glass of elven wine in peace and quiet, without being called on to intervene in someone else's problems.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
It is interesting that the first thing some oots characters do when someone attacks a teammate is not to help said teammate, but to bewail the fact they aren't the ones attacked in the way.
Vaarsuvius started it with the brain-eating monster, bewailing that it preferred Roy to V instead of helping Roy.
Now it is Belkar envying Durkon instead of pointing out that poor Durkon never intended anything like that.
I wonder who'll be next - will Elan be called a thief and Haley be envious?
Or perhaps when Durkon is resurrected, Belkar will die honorably in battle and Durkon will envy him instead of even thinking about resurrecting him.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
And that's the problem when you mess with prophecies.
The loose ends come back to strangle you.
Also Belkar complaining that he's not feared enough is cute."If it lives it can be killed.
If it is dead it can be eaten."

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
"No thanks, we're driving the plot" That never stopped Durkon
... I miss you, Durkon.
Also hrm. Lamentations for Durkon. The prophecy should not be common knowledge. I wonder if this is where we'll hear the cover story?
Edit: Wait, I'm dumb. The cover story is that he's on a mission to the human lands. The dude with the beer just knows?Last edited by Chei; 2017-08-29 at 11:12 AM.

Woot! Exposition coming!
What's notable is that the high priestess herself didn't know any of this. Lucky that the brewmaster was here, eh?

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Always nice to see a man who respects a good prophecy. Plus with a performance like that I imagine he'll get along well with Elan.

Re: OOTS #1095 - The Discussion Thread
Interesting. I wonder if this will resolve the discrepancy between the Origin of PC's and the scene where the Vampire is taunting Durkon about getting kicked out. In Origin Durkon is just told to live with the humans until called home. In the Vampire memory he is literally chucked out. Though in either case Durkon himself didn't know why he went out so he wouldn't have been able to share it with Roy. Roy may not believe that right now tho.
