    D̨vatla

    Khäsglis
    (Round 10: 130-132 IR)

    Actions
    1. [Diplomacy] Continue to claim Region 13 (no roll, second action) With no surviving sons, the king of [Region 13] names his daughter, and Khäsglis's wife, as his heir.
    2. [Diplomacy] Persuade Perivan to join us against the empire (roll=9...) Emissaries are sent east to pay our respects to the new king (or Sartek, or whatever titles he may see fit to take up). They argue that should the empire win the present war (which, incidentally, provided the distraction that allowed the rebellion to proceed unopposed) it would have no choice but to move against Perivan and attempt to make an example of them. They offer treaties officially recognizing the independence of Perivan and guarantees of their continued independence, though they note that refusing to support D̨vatla in war with their common enemies would be a clear indication that Perivan does not desire friendship with their people.
    3. [Military] Invade Region 16 (5 units, M8, camel cavalry and Pician weapons, total +15) The last time was intended, as much as anything, to merely open up another front and stretch the imperial armies to their breaking point. Once it had become clear the greater part of those forces were coming to meet him, Khäsglis had little expectation of winning. But this time he presses deep, intending to conquer. And when word arrives of the Linnadi advance, he redoubles his efforts. No longer the vanguard, taking the full brunt of the enemy's might, and wanting to not be outdone by their ally's conquests to the east, the army is in high spirits, and eager to test out the strange new weapons many have been provided.
    4. [Military] Recruit A major recruitment drive is undertaken in the far north and west of Llët̨sällë, where the men are hardy and independent-minded.
    5. [Military] Recruit [Region 13], now secure in its alliance with D̨vatla and wanting to show off its own power, to better take its place as a true equal unified in personal union rather than a mere subjugated territory, gathers its forces in preparation for joining the D̨vatlans

    Non-Actions
    • Support/permit Omanush buyout

    News and Rumors
    • D̨vatla formally recognizes the independence of Perivan and Derokar, and recommends that both be extended the opportunity to join the mutual protections offered by the Statue Gardens Treaty (so long as they also fulfill the Treaty's pledge to oppose the empire)
    • Khäsglis's first son is born in 132, joining several daughters. The king is said to be overjoyed, naming the newborn Vëkhglis, and his wife is said to be planning a trip to [Region 13] to introduce the prince to his grandfather and the other kingdom he is in line to inherit.
    • The Thousand Swords extend an invitation to Magi Arunca to train with them. Their style of fighting, honed over the generations in their monastery in Këpääs, is rather unique and very different from what his regular D̨vatlan teachers are familiar with. They also suspect he might be interested in their interweaving of physical action and Abhidic magic.
    • Prince Zäklis falls ill several times in 131 and 132. His eldest son Mekkat spends much of the two years serving in his place as de facto satrap.
    • The Initia-run Academy in what was once the Shrine of the Sea continues to expand. The popular nobleman philosopher and lecturer Llën̨kä has become a leading figure in Ghehevs̨lam and his ideas widely recognized in the surrounding area on both sides of the river. The inevitable complaints from the less tolerant factions of the Tëlir Geza priesthood over the spread of Initia thought is once again dismissed by Khäsglis and his court.
    • An informal meeting is held by representatives of many of the more notable Abhidic monasteries across D̨vatlan territory in the Hill's Shadow outside Lakhko. Afterwards there are calls for more formal meetings and greater cooperation among the various monasteries. The various participating monasteries also reiterate their rejection of Sattyathanya.

    Round 10
    [Desert of Magic]

    Regno (8), Iadesh (7), Jherki (9), Deaux (56)

    [Grand Magus Viclean]

    Actions:
    1. [Economy] Finally, after years of preparation, those of the Regner Diplomatic Expedition HQ have prepared what they hope will be enough for a lengthy - and successful - foray into the unknown and dangerous north. Taking expert camel riders - both mercantile and military - Speaker Pertento is given the solemn duty of leading the convoy to the north of Petram, City in the Shallows. After several months, the exploratory party will head towards the west to rendezvous with supply ships that will travel the coast and - hopefully - meet up with them in a year's time. Grand Magus Viclean spends a signficant amount of his own personal wealth to see that this, the first expedition, is as much of a success as possible.
(Explore North-west of Regno, Resolution Action, Roll Total: 22)
      Spoiler: Planned Route
      Show
This is the main route. Additional scouting to left and right of the main route is expected. As much of the map is meant to be uncovered as possible. The bold-er line is the land expedition. The skinnier line is the start of the resupply by boat, followed by exploration along the coast north of Region 1.

[Diplomatic Expedition, Secondary Effect Active (Camel Calvary, with Camels. Expanded Holds, with Ships. Precious Mineral, Sapphires. Precious Mineral, Bani.) - Claim to be established on a randomly explored neighboring region]
    2. [Economy] In order to better stabilize the economy of Iadesh (and help other regions too!) the Grand Magus, Heir Tutum, and Umbo Iadesh the 7th work together to set up a plan to sell the rights to existing trading posts to the Omanush Convoys.
(Economy Action to Grant Support for Three Trade Posts to Omanush Convoys, specifically for the following.)
      • TP#2, Region 9 [Sapphires]
      • TP#2, Region 56 [Hlaali Bark]
      • TP#2, Region 8 [Bani]
    3. [Diplomacy] Every effort is made to calm the discontent between freed former slaves and the others within Iadesh. The Liber family is getting large, but is well known for it's construction capabilities, and being an overall success for many former slaves. As such, the Grand Magus himself visits Cataracta for a brief visit, and determines good, honorable men and women to start other new families within Iadesh that can do for other trades what the Liber family has done for (primarily) construction. [After Roll] The Grand Magus helps to establish four new Families in Iadesh, which are the basis of what eventually becomes new - government supported - Guilds in all of Iadesh. Ultimately, this works so well, it has the unusual effect of creating Guild branches in Regno, Jherki, and even in Deaux! Two additional families - already established - step forward, and like the new families, they accept any former Iadeshian slaves into their ranks. Existing guilds are eager to be recognized, and though integration is slow, the fact that these guilds are not only government supported, but are spread out through multiple regions makes the three years of effort worth it.
(Establish More Families in Iadesh: 21)
      Spoiler: Families and Guilds
      Show
      • Liber Family - Construction Guild (Houses, Roads, Outposts, etc; Done by Hand and with Initia) - Family Head and Guild Leader: Pingo Liber

      Old Families, New Roles
      • Comert Family - Merchant Guild (Buying, Selling, and Shipping Goods [Including Camels], Overseeing Markets [Including Treatment of Employees]; Done by Hand) - Family Head: Valens Comert - Guild Leader: Umbo Iadesh the 7th
      • Meserie Family - Artisan Guild (Blacksmiths, Jewelers, Lumberjacks, etc; Done by Hand and with Initia) - Family Head: Viu Meserie - Guild Leader: Magi Incudo Casnic

      New Familes
      • Gnavis Family - Shipbuilders Guild (Overseeing Docks, Sewing, Wood Carving, Ship Building, etc; Done by Hand and with Initia) - Family Head and Guild Leader: Trimite Gnavis
      • Doceo Family - Guild of Education (Reading, Writing, Schools, Science, Math, Prepares People for Bratus Academy if they Wish, etc; Done by Hand) - Family Head and Guild Leader: Arata Doceo
      • Vorbi Family - Diplomacy Guild (Bureaucracy, Mediation, Law, Exploration, etc; Done by Hand) - Family Head and Guild Leader: Fama Vorbi
      • Venor Family - Hunters Guild (Hunting, Fishing, Farming, Peacekeeping [Aiding Legionnaires], etc; Done by Hand and with Initia) - Family Head: Goni Venor - Guild Leader: Lord Sourire Jumeau of Deaux

    4. [Diplomacy] Study into the good people of Deaux (Region 56) has determined a strange substance shed by the local fauna that is both hard as regular lumber and yet easily malleable. Umbo Iadesh the Seventh receives this report, and almost disregards it, but doesn't. Instead, he sends out feelers to merchants within the Omanush Convoys, and proposes to allow them to buy it. With Regno's support, a merchant dock is built off the northern coast of Deaux.
(Curry favor with Organization, Omanush Convoys, Level 4 to 5 (TN 14), Roll: 14)
    5. [Faith] Finding resistance to the ideas of magic within Deaux (Region 56), Magus Scruto begins to teach members of the island about Initia. That this also happens to begin working on removing the Dejanite Cult is certainly coincidence.
(Claim Religious Center #1, Region 56, Roll: 18)

    Non-Actions:
    • Offer the Omanush Convoys the support of the Five Cities in purchasing Hlaali Bark from the Sud Shipyard of Deaux (Support Buyout of Trade Post #2, Region 56, if Omanush Convoys want Hlaali Bark)
    • Resist the theft of Obsidian Fire. Become confused, as their tuition paperwork seems to be in order. Realize later it was a trick. Send guards after them. Discover they already made a clean get away. Draft a formal letter of apology to Khirus, and a formal letter of surprise and displeasure for Glen Gwitna. (Roll: 8)

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show

    • With Grand Magus Viclean himself spending a great deal of his personal wealth on the venture, everyone is very hopeful for Speaker Pertento's success in exploring the north.
    • There is some muttering among merchants regarding the loss of Slavery in the region. Things are more expensive, when you must pay laborers. Yet, the clever merchants find no issues. Sadly, there are less clever merchants then there are not clever ones; to make matters worse, there are freed members of the Liber family whom have taken up assisting and learning from merchants until they - themselves - are now competition. Umbo Iadesh the Seventh does his best to keep things from becoming a problem, but he sends his concerns to his younger brother, Heir Tutum, whom passes it along to the Grand Magus.
    • During the year 132, Viclean develops a cough, and is sick for almost two months. Speakers and Magi of Water work around the clock for nearly seven weeks to try and make him feel better, and they do succeed, but he is no longer full of his usual vim and vigor, and is skinnier the next time he makes a public appearance. People begin to mutter - out of respect for him - that he may wish to become Soc Viclean, and pass on the Grand Magus title. Viclean himself is not convinced yet that it is time.
    • Spera Sortis (her pet Sandboar Porcus always nearby) is made into an official Aspectus in the year 131. Her grandfather - and father - are very proud. She begins to experiment with tattoos that may work on Sandboars and other animals, which is an area of study that few - if any - have tried before. At least, these days, she has plenty of willing test subjects, as her having a pet Sandboar has spawned a new type of breeder in Regno; one specifically selling domesticated pigs.
    • Speaker Schimba struggles to work with the Clans, especially now that the war is going on. She does begin to understand that, perhaps, Heir Tutum was a bit over zealous in describing the advancements of Initia, and less careful about discussing the traditions of the Principles. As such, for those that will listen, she starts to do just that. Schimba encourages the curious to try and understand the balance of Initia, along with the teachings of the past that - yes - propel the future. She attempts to do so in a respectful, educational manner, and even attends services for the Honmyo religion to better comprehend the local faith. She hasn't given up on talking with members of each of the Clans, though...
    • The Iadeshian maps that were created with aid from Ambassador Riola Greybeak from Whitefeather are touted as exceptional, and now even Jherki wants some of their own. Traveling in the Home of the Dry is difficult, even for Captain Disca, who loudly complains that 'Riola' probably is suffering from the heat. He personally makes sure that she has plenty of water to drink during and in between flights. Other members of the Ambassador's guard are, supposedly, very amused by the Captain's actions... when they are not busy marveling at the interesting towns and places of the hottest desert in Regner.
    • Magi Sortiment, of the Dawntalon family, begins to fret when his wife starts talking about finding a marriage partner for their eldest daughter. Now over fifteen years old, though, he does what happily married men have done for centuries and utters a resigned 'yes dear'. The Ambassador to the Crescent spends more time with his younger daughter, Mira, and also his son, Batant. Still, he does send a report regarding his eldest daughter's marriage eligibility to Regno, and it becomes the talk of many older matrons for weeks.
    • A pair of refugees from the fighting between the various factions of the Firethorn Regiment make it to Regno. After much discussion with the Legionaries, Heir Tutum has a chance to speak with them. He finally learns that Amerah Kren died of a supposed illness, but begins to suspect that it happened under more mysterious circumstances than everyone else has been led to believe.
    • Magi Arunca begins to lament in his reports that there are not more Initiates here with him. His Legionnaires guards also state that they need someone - anyone - that can actually spar with the Ambassador to D̨vatla, as he is only challenged these days by his D̨vatlan teachers; and supposedly, even they are beginning to have difficulty. Captain Aspru, of Family Newbess, is sent to 'visit his little brother'. The older brother returns to Regno with a black eye, a smile, and a few new tricks that he teaches to his men.
    • Comoara of Family Casnic announces to her husband, Emissary of the Clans, that she is pregnant. Soc Fodina examines her, and says with a wise old grin, that it is twins. A very good sign. Twins are a rare thing for Oamenii. By the start of the year 132, a young boy and a young girl are born. Comoara leaves it to their father to name them, though does caution him that Regnan traditions make them of Family Casnic.
    • Legionnaires begin to move in and out of Fort Mustar, obtaining additional training - and new weaponry - from the more militant minded members of the Dry.
    • Speaker Urias and his two Aspectus guards have found a flock within the Basins of the Khirus Republic, and while they still do not know how well things will work out between Khirus and Azenhal, Urias is honored by the visit of Magi Vecto. The senior Magi is under orders to review the Learning Center, and if it is acceptable, Urias is to earn his Magi tattoos.
    • Supposedly, the Grand Magus is less than pleased about the direction the new senior Jalsi of Amham have been taking Jalyeong-Bo. He never out right says - or even thinks towards someone - that he has anything less than respect for them, but the few times their historically aggressive conversions are mentioned in his presence, the Rune of Everything Soul bearer cannot help but frown.
    • The Three Towers begins to notice the mercantile activity between Iadesh and Glen Gwitna, and formally request of Lord Ferreth that a Speaker be allowed to come and be an Ambassador for Regnan interests. This request is accompanied by a large supply of Bani and reams of Giant's Silk. Far more than Lord Ferreth and his household needs, but surprisingly, about equal in value to the otherwise yearly shipment of Sapphires.
    • The road between Bratus and Cataracta is finished. Umbo Iadesh the Seventh continues to pay the Liber family, whom are now touted as experts of construction. Pingo Liber is more than happy to hear that now all Five Cities want a network of roads built, and soon Sortis and Bratus are the first to receive such a road, which finishes in early 131. Sortis and Litore are next, and by the end of 132, there is a series of roads that connects Prinde Town of Iadesh with Litore City of Regno. Umbo Iadesh also wants the crew he is used to paying to build a road to the south, towards the Izbefe merchant city of Cona. He reaches out to King Balder Gammet for permission to build through the Izbefe region.
    • Space is made for the new Ambassador from the Khirus Republic, Selenity of the Basins. Due to the Obsidian Sands Treaty, she is given space quite a bit closer to Bratus than Sortis, to allow her and her household to build however they choose. Regno only stipulates that she must hire builders from the Liber family. And... members of the Three Towers quietly make assurances regarding certain rumors about those in power within the Khirus Republic. No one shall be forced, but it's only a matter of time until a volunteer is found. And approved.
    • Magus Memoria, of Family Litore, is reportedly struggling in her new position. As the local leader for not just only the major port city for Regno, but also for the Ostrov Grounds Cursuri (Aspect Campus), she is often found lamenting her father's decision to leave the city in her hands. This does not mean that she has been doing a poor job; far from it, the people of Litore are quite happy with her hard work. She just seems to have a poor attitude about being very good at her governance. It soon becomes a running joke in the city that if teenagers complained as much as Magus Memoria does, they might yet master her ability to also be effective.
    • Belonging or not belonging to one of the newly government supported Major Guilds becomes a matter of prestige. Not just former slaves, but also members of other regions, rush to be accepted. Merchant guilds - smaller ones, existing previously - are quick to support Umbo Iadesh the Seventh as the ultimate Merchant Guild leader and few object. Yet, though he is a major merchant, and still helps to govern Iadesh, Umbo refuses the title of 'Grand Guildmaster', stating that this title should go to someone not part of any other guild. The other Guild Leaders agree, and a Magi Dantura from Iadesh - one of the first Magi that was originally born in the region - is soon suggested as the leader of all the Guilds.
    • Magi Dantura doesn't really know what to do with this power at first, and she stumbles a bit with it. She know she answers to Umbo Iadesh for matters of state, but she also leads him for Guild matters. Though she is a Magi, there is no Magi Guild; this defaults to the established leadership of the Three Towers in Regno, which she is a member in good standing with and still has to take orders from them, which can place her in a poor spot. Dantura must also help balance the Hunter's Guild Peacekeepers - which her husband is a part of - with the Legionnaires, some of whom are adament that she must follow their command structure to help prevent discord in the populace. She is about to resign from the appointment due to conflict of interests, when Viclean Sortis solves all her problems and appoints the position of 'Grand Guildmaster' as a direct adviser to the Grand Magus and not a part of anyone else's chain of command.
    • Partly in an effort to try and assist in peaceful resolution near their friends in Whitefeather and Azenhal, and partly because of the lack of knowledge, the Three Towers requests a teacher from Glen Gwitna come and give classes on how to speak the Pician language.
    • Ixtilli, from Coatl, arrives just in time to spend a week in Sortis before he apparently decides to go with Speaker Pertento to explore the north western forgotten lands. He is welcomed by Magi of Initia, and treated favorably for his abilities to assist in growing plants, which could provide some much needed food for the journey.

Propitiations are made to the spirits to allow clearance of inland territory in Amham and Yemur so that new villages might be constructed.

    3. The Duke's wife experiences a violent miscarriage in 131 and is bedridden for months as a consequence. Though she ultimately recovers, her health is subsequently frail and she does not venture beyond the boundaries of Samg.
    4. A wild-eyed shaman descends from the mountains in Yemur full of bizarre tales and visions of the mysterious lands to the north. Circulation of these tales, along with lurid illustrations, spikes interest among the barons in north exploration. They also respond by increasing military readiness. The artist responsible for these sketches, Jimin Nam, is chosen by Aro Silaw as the illustrator for his book. She is widely hailed as a master who will lead to a revolution in the arts of Amham.

He believes that Dvatla will be able to handle their war without Linnadi aid, and combines ships seized in Wybrèz with the existing Linnadi navy to transport the army past [Region 16], landing at the tip of the peninsula with an attack on the defenders there. Not only does this bold maneuver threaten a second invasion of Avakon if successful, but any Imperial forces that remain on the peninsula will be cut off completely.

    2. [Diplomacy] Stabilize the Tin Coast of Wybrèz: 14
At first, some fear that Wybrèz will still be loyal to the Empire. To prevent this, the Council spreads the news that the Linnadi plan to restore the line of the kings of Siestok (as Council members rather than kings), and the people seem content to allow the Linnadi to govern the region without much resistance. However, no heir is found yet; perhaps he is in hiding, or has fled from the battles in the region. For the time being, Colrim Syssillo continues to govern the region, leaving a regent to watch over his lands in Arfordir.

    3. [Diplomacy] Attend the Leislurrigan Negotiations
Jannellai and Mallow travel to Leislurrigan, originally to observe the Negotiations, but it is quickly apparent that merely observing will be unlikely.

Upon their return, the faltering remnants of the 1st Pine Company (Ashea is not the leader Necathi was) are mobilized. Ashea appoints Semilli Correnellia as the new captain of the company, and Semilli travels southwest, bringing aid to Chieftess Feather against the Empire. While the opportunity to invite Perivan and Inkia to join the Treaty of the Gardens at the Negotiations proper was missed, messengers are also sent to the newly-independent nations to offer them alliance under the Treaty. The Theocracy of Coatl also continues to provide support to the Treaty, as thousands of Coatlean soldiers are placed under Linnadi command.

    4. Accept 2 units from the Theocracy of Coatl

    4. [Economy] Buyout Tin TP #1 in Wybrèz [Region 18] (Currently belonging to Avakonia): 14
Despite Avakonia's loss of control over Wybrèz, tin continues to flow to fuel the Empire. Smugglers find they can make a better profit by dodging the overworked shore patrols and selling ore in Avakon or Teretos, while miners rarely question the ultimate destination of their product. The Council responds by offering yet higher prices for tin sold to the military, intending to put a stop to smuggling and cut off Avakonia's access to the mines.

    5. [Economy] Buyout Mercenaries TP #2 in Lazar [Region 28] (Currently belonging to Lazar, supported, CI): 18
The Council sends ships across the Gwitnan peninsula to the Isles of Lazar, delivering the Black Company its first payment. They return with fierce Lazarite soldiers, well-trained and well-armed, and ready to fight on behalf of the Linnadi. These mercenary units are combined into the existing Linnadi companies, increasing their size, strength, and morale.

    • News arrives from the south that the Picians (no longer thought to be rumors or stories) have broken off their war against the Abhidic zealots to assault the Empire. This is taken as a sign by most: even the fish-monsters aid in war against the corrupt Empire. Fate truly smiles upon the foes of Avakonia.
      .
    • The storyteller's recording of the Tale of Torhillad is completed in 130, once again attracting many to the Great Caves.
      .
    • A competition is sponsored by the Council to choose a sculptor for a statue of Lira Jinna to be placed in the Statue Gardens. The winner, chosen from among many submissions, is one Liza Isaksen, an Uran artisan. Some oppose the choice, claiming that it is mere appeasement of Gelupar, but none can deny her skill. She begins work on the statue in late 132, hoping to complete it within the year.
      .
    • Rumors of contact with new peoples on the western shores of Estensule are commonplace throughout 132. Descriptions of these new lands vary wildly, but they all center around Daraki sailors who constructed a port in what they thought was uninhabited land. Many messengers travel south, hoping to learn the truth of these rumors for themselves.
      .
    • The Council remains neutral on the contested claim to the Theocracy of Coatl. Sentiment among Linnadi followers of Xincoatl greatly favors Teppin, but few outside of the Highlands proper pay much mind to the issue.
      .
    • While unicorn sightings were dismissed in recent years as rumors, they have continued unabated for almost six years. Several sketches of the creatures have been produced from memory, and despite the fact that no unicorn has ever been caught, few now claim that they are nonexistent. The pattern of the sightings also has changed slightly; while they continue to disappear in a flash of light once seen, they are sometimes observed with a halo of light projecting from their horn. The debate now rages over what sort of creature they are, what purpose the horn serves, and how one could be caught to observe (an especially difficult problem given their seeming ability to teleport).
      .
    • Setjura's collection of information on the ”Destroyer Statues” is received with great interest. Ajustana's notes seem to tally fairly well with what was already known, and they contains some further interesting clues that did not make it across the Uhraiya. A group of several Linnadi priests, led by Necathi's second son Cyllui and his daughter Liassa Necathoja, obtain permissions to travel to Wasipacha and investigate the location of the statues, departing in 132.
      .
    • Many are angered by what they view as the betrayals of the Gwitna and the Whitefeathers against the Treaty of the Gardens. While both have reasonable grounds to make peace with the Empire, neither should simply abandon the cause, much less become a vassal of the Empire. Jannellai is able to restrain the Council from rash actions for now, advising that the Gwitna are unlikely to remain loyal to Avakonia for long and that Keat will not renounce his word (even if he does not continue the war). Messengers communicate an idea of draining the Empire's hold on its resources, depriving it of the means of war and stirring its people up against it. But the older members of the Council, especially Synnidra and Colrim Syssillo, are still set against the new Premier, and the future remains uncertain.

    News and Rumours
    • The chancellor is desperate to recover from the failed campaigns against (region 38) and senses the eyes of his predatory family on his back especially with the kindred in the far away region of the basins and so a grand ambition is put into place. An announcement is made to the citizens of a great project! The construction of a series buildings of learning and philosophical grace. A place where philosophers, politicians and theologians can be equals and debate the values of the universe. The promise of a massive bathhouse, a university built around the Initia learning center recently constructed and finally an amphitheater where thinkers can hold lectures and debate with their fellow thinkers.
    • The murder of Khirus officials has the citizens and the government in a mess. Public services have not been completely shut down but everything is running at a minimal.
    • Curfew is put back in place claiming a need to protect the lives of citizens.
    • Propoganda once again rises on every street corner as there is a push of pro Republic ideals, "Remember citizens the kingdoms of this world seek to destroy us because of our ideals! They do not want to believe peasents can be more then their lot in life! They do not want to believe you have a right to CHOOSE your leader! They send assassins in the dark hoping to tear us apart but they never will because we are the grandest nation on earth!"
    • Whitefeather kingdom is blamed for these crimes! Patriotism and National Fervor is promoted!
    • Avakonia is blamed for these crimes! Hatred for ancient masters is promoted!
    • Azenhal is blamed for these crimes! Never trust the Stunted folk!
    • Sattanyaha is blamed for these crimes! Zealots only cause destruction, they will harm moderates of the faith and those who are different!
    • Talk of elections begins to ring the ears of the citizens once again and the chancellors position has never been so shaky. A young firebrand by the name of Kalim Yosra (A ghoul of one of the other factions) has begun to spread a message of change, an end to expansionist war policies that the Sattanyaha must be removed but by working with neighbors and not making bloody and costly war.
    • The mad man they call Suicide Sandor is rumored to be captured in the far east and the promise of a chest of jewels for his apprehension and arrival to the capital is sent out to the court of pirates in the hopes he is delivered into the nations grasp for justice.

    To Senator Kathine

My beloved mistress I am haunted by your absence. I know your light must remain muted in the Elysium but knowing I won’t see you until the chancellor declares it safe is heart wrenching. I digress forgive me. I know you wanted updates on the senates movements. Most are like yourself being forced to hide from the filth of the mongrel dogs who are so ruthlessly hunting you. We are watching from every corner and with the crackdown of curfew we have been rounding up threats left and right. Those not baring the mark of us are being hunted… I must admit though it is not all going so smoothly, with the chancellor spending much of his time in foreign negotiation with our new allies in the theocracy and that new place of learning with the basins has him only coming to the capital for the hunts. He is stretched too thin and the kindred know it.

Old rivalries are bubbling to the surface and many are using these religious battles to settle ancient feuds. Already two vampires have been burnt to a cinder impaled and left in the sun with claims it was from whoever set off the chain of events which led to the initial attack. The merchants and the hawks are also making moves against one another en masse. They look to want to pick over the corpse of the chancellor before he even dies. They demand war when we have no soldiers on one side and Tyras is human… Leaving most of the other factions unwilling to support him until he embraces immortality. Him bringing in abandoned neonates or kindred whose sires have died has made him strong… The wars have affected us more then we could imagine. A human can hold one of our ancients at bay its absurd to the point of laughter… Perhaps tears is a better fit.

Regardless the ancient ones the chancellor challenges grow tired of our middle roads and our lack of action as war erupts against the empire and we stagnate. The failure for the Chancellor to spread the Republican cause and their blood pools to a greater size also leads to them stirring against us. We must be careful. You must be careful my beloved.

    Eternally yours

Mila wants Suicide Sandor for herself, she has become completely enamored by the rakish troublemaker while Martanus was responsible for overseering the trade that was being handled so thugishly by the orcs of the obsidian deserts.

The chancellors move to diplomatic appraisal worries the hawks greatly.
    - Violence by some supernatural force of faith has the elysiums of Khirus, the basins and Razzak terrified. The kindred rarely leave their homes in the basins and Razzak allowing their ghouls to now run all operations with the vampire populace hiding in the shadows like when the Avakonian empire controlled the world.
-The chancellor has personally led blood hunts searching for those responsible for the chaos which plagues the capital.
    - Santiago Mintos a neonate of some 97 years under the watchful eye of Yuval Harari as an acolyte of his magics has requested the right to turn Sarabella Tyras one of the Merchant kings nieces. Some wonder what kind of price the merchant king will demand for a member of his family, others wonder if the merchant king will take the head off his shoulders for the insult. Neither side can afford war right now.

Though the Shamans of the continent had proved over the past half decade to be steadfast in their beliefs and stalwart against religious incursion the full might of Xincoatl's faithful rising from the Isles is hoped to prove too great and at last break Jalyeong-bo authority in the northeast.

Hundreds if not thousands of lazarites descend upon Inyaka from their nearby island homes looking to uproot and overturn the traditional shaman hierarchies. With the great will of the lazarite faithful mobilized against them the shamans are forced to cede more and more ground until eventually they are so removed from the daily lives of the region they cease to be relevant.

2 [FAITH] Convert Region 27 HC 3 from Jalyeong-bo to Coatl Perijanism Success

Though the Shamans of the continent had proved over the past half decade to be steadfast in their beliefs and stalwart against religious incursion the full might of Xincoatl's faithful rising from the Isles is hoped to prove too great and at last break Jalyeong-bo authority in the northeast.

When Amham colors are spotted flying on a merchant ship near the bay they are met on shore by a mob of lazarites and local Coatl Perijanists wielding torches and weapons. Though managing to escape with their lives the message sent to the crew is clear, the Shamans are no longer welcome. This land now belongs to Xincoatl.

3 [ECONOMY] Buyout Firethorn Regiment TP 3 for Mercenaries in Isles of Lazar (28) Failure

Greater and greater demand for mercenaries have been coming from the Firethorne Regiment’s presence on the Isles to fuel the distant Avakonian war. While the Kiin Sareteh might have been willing to deal with the Firethorne if they could pay their debts when those debts are called in before authorizing further credit to the Regiment the Firethorne’s coffers are revealed to be practically empty. With the Kiin Palesh Bor supporting the anti-Avakonian Conclave and the Regiment seemingly unable to pay for its intrusion into the Isles the Arndok authorizes the eviction of Firethorne agents from the Isles and investment of tribal surplus to acquire the mercenary outpost currently claimed by the Regiment.

When the merchants and evictors arrive to see the Regiment representatives and the Jalyeong-bo Captain of the independent mercenary company off the Isles they are met with something unexpected, payment. Claiming to be a portion of a massive loan granted to the Firethorn by the Avakonian Empire the Firethorn head skillfully argues that the Regiment is most well positioned to reap wealth from the Empire for their defense of their liege in times of trouble. Avakonia, the Regiment officer claims, will be deeply indebted to the Regiment for their services in the war and so by proxy the Empire will be indebted to the Isles through the Regimental mercenary contracts. Some more incredulous lazarites suggest the payment is too little too late and question its veracity but ultimately the Regiment is granted a three-year extension of their current contracts endorsed by the Kiin Sareteh with the caveat that failure to provide tangible payment for their long-standing intrusion upon the Isles will result in the Regiment's eviction.

4 [MILITARY] Raise 1 Unit of Lazarite Mercenaries

Fighting under the mercenary banner of the Kiin Paleseh Bor, “The Black Company”, this sizable force of fighters is eager to earn coin by their might of arms. With favors owed from their aid in establishing Kiin Sareteh dominion the Black Company receives a sizable and well funded contract to train and equip a company of mercenaries.

The Black Company’s commander, Larsin, holds an influential seat among the Kiin Sareteh and is invited to join their coalition. Larsin accepts the offer but rejects participating in the monthly Moot preferring instead to act as an occasional advisor and special representative of the Black Company.

Fighting under the mercenary banner of the Kiin Paleseh Bor, “The Black Company”, this sizable force of fighters is eager to earn coin by their might of arms. With favors owed from their aid in establishing Kiin Sareteh dominion as well as expanding the Isles prestige internationally the Black Company receives another sizable and well funded contract to train and equip a company of mercenaries.

    • Bounties are offered to Gwitnan Pirates who bring evidence of their sinking of Daraki trade ships operating in the Badan. While disruptions of Regno operations are also accepted for payment by most bounty offices the only official targets are those of the Wuzei Darak. Officially the Wuzei Darak are denounced for pursuing trade in waters they have no claim to and have made no payment to access. The bounties are paid in copper coinage or rights to contract with the Kiin Palesh Bor at deeply discounted rates, at the discretion of the bounty hunter.
    • The Coalition of Gwitna has been restored to the rightful rule of Lord Ferreth! While much celebration is made over the lazarite role in restoring Lord Ferreth the efforts of Kunai and adherents of Honmyo are also respectfully honored. The Satsujin were ejected from Glen Gwitna and struggled to recover their lost prestige during the civil war and so the Isles officially invite Honmyo to return to the Coalition and pledge not to interfere with any conclaves of Honmyo practitioners in respect for their integral role in securing Ferreth's freedom. Still, Honmyo displacing Coatl Perijanists would not be especially well looked upon and the Kunai are invited to proselytize not in the capital but instead in Aniachaket against the Jalyeong-bo Shamans or (Region 25) and (Region 26) against orthodox Perijanists.
    • The Gwitna Coalition is officially invited to take on stewardship of (Region 27) once the Shamans that currently infest its shores are dealt with. The Isles heap great praise upon Ferreth and the Gwitnans for their role as protectors and guardians of the northeast and the lazarites supplicate the Coalition to continue its earnest adherence to Xincoatl and protection of the Badan from thieves and vagabonds through expansion and protectionist militancy.
    • The news of what has occurred at the Leislurrigan Negotiations causes a mighty uproar when it reaches the Isles. Kiin Sareteh factions take hard stances on the matter and the Kiin Paleseh Bor fish for opportunity. Since the resurgence of the Isles following the Burning and the ascension of Arndok Elbruk the Kiin Sareteh fail to have a majorly unified voice and it falls to the Arndok to enforce one upon them. Many factions plead their case to the Arndok and she listens but does not yet speak on the issues brought forward by the negotiations though she shall need to soon.

As the fighting in Fresia comes to a close, perhaps the region will finally be able to achieve peace. (Stabilize Fresia (region 70); Roll: 12 (wrong stat value, should be +6))
    2. [Diplomacy] The 'jokes' of the Lioran criminals are taken very coolly by the Picians. However, surprisingly, they do not act on the matter. Instead, communications are exchanged with the local rulers of the land and the Lioran authorities themselves work to find the fools and deliver justice. The fact that the people they are familiar with rather than the ever-looming shadow of the Picians are working to make the region safer brings ease to many who had previously been uneasy. (Stabilize Lior (region 43); Roll: 15 (wrong stat value, should be +6))

At high tide a horde of Picians swarms forth from the heaving wreck of Fresia, eager to sate their lust for conquest. However, things are different than the previous invasion. Rather than pillaging everything they can the Picians are focused solely on pushing their opponents back, leaving the once bereaved people of Hosra to themselves. The mad dash through the region has lead many to believe that Hosra is not actually their final goal in this resumption of their infamous conquests... Though given more than enough time to evacuate our realm, the Azen have seen fit to continue pilfering that which is rightfully ours. This has greatly displeased Speaker Wadagle, who has Kelios write out a missive to the thieves.
I had thought you to be reasonable in regards to creating a peace between our peoples, but I see now that I was mistaken. Despite our simple requests for you to cease your extortion of the lands under my protection your people continue to snatch the prey which is not their own. By all rights my people and I should be marching on your accursed mountain this instant to teach you dishonorable whelps another lesson, but fortunately for you another has drawn my blades to their throat and so for the moment you remain safe in your decadence.

But mark my words, by the time our conflict with Avakonia is concluded it would be better for everyone you and your subjects hold dear to have fully evacuated my domain. Should you fail to do so I shall not be as lenient towards you as Mlagarblargle was.

~Speaker Wadagle, the Chosen of the Leviathan
    • The catastrophe in [Region 38] has notably soured the alliance with Khirus. Seeing as one of Wadagle's own offspring was among those massacred, Wadagle has definitely lost confidence in Khirus' military ability and has resolved to send no further aid against the Abhidist zealots. They have been thoroughly expunged from our domain already; this is enough.
    • The slave revolt in Ka-Ruun has caused unease for much of the Caridan aristocracy. Having poured all their capital into the importation of slaves to placate the Picians they now find themselves nearly bankrupt with nowhere else to turn. Many begin to fear a potential Pician response, though others recognize that they will be busy warring with the Empire for some time.

    News & Rumors
    Spoiler
    Show
    • Magus Bram is dead! The somber news dampens the revelatory spirits of the soldiers who helped the Magus achieve victory in the east. Soon the matter of the Magus' successor becomes a point of contention for Bram, so focused on maintaining Azenhal in Palmor that no designated heir was chosen and no child was known to carry Bram's bloodline. Meeting privately Bram's senior-most advisors carry out intense negotiations and after a week of deliberation announce their support for Agnet Moonhammer, elder Azen Guild Mistress to take charge of the expanded state. The dwarven woman is famed for her keen eye for deals and willingness to negotiate with anyone willing to listen. Agnet herself is an Initiate within the principles of Initia but her husband, Ragno Stonbrook, harbored sincere sympathies for the Sattyathanya cause. One of the Guild Mistress' first order of business is contacting the Sattyathanya leaders and informing them of Bram's death as well as her own intention to carry forward his legacy how she can. The Sattyathanya are informed that the Azen woman does not comprehend the religious texts and magical power as Bram did but that she does not wish to see Azenhal's stalwart allies abandoned. To replace Bram's pledge of Azenhal support for Abhidist legitimacy Agnet offers to help the Sattyathanya forge their own identity and unity separate but aligned with Azenhal's government.
    • The beating inflicted on the Republic of Khirus and their Pician allies by the Sattyathanya holdouts in (Region 38) is celebrated throughout Azenhal and seen as a sign of God's merciful eye towards the defensive actions taken by the Sattyathanya to preserve the balance in Palmor. Ambassadors and religious scholars originally selected by Bram to go into the region are augmented with additional moderate Abhidic voices who are asked to speak with the Sattyathanya about returning to more traditional Abhidist thought and text after seeing the horrors of religious warfare. Many monks have died in these rebellions, each a wound to Abhidi's multitude reflections, and some have fallen from Abhidi's light in their efforts to combat the darkness. The Sattyathanya and the Order of Vashthiya who ignited the religious rebellions are entreated to consider the damage caused by their rebellion, alongside the light they have helped preserve and to begin considering a less radical means of influence and protection for Abhidists worldwide. Those veterans and recruits willing to listen to these moderating voices find themselves swept up by Azenhal and provided much comfort and prestige in exchange for their aid in de-radicalizing the remaining Sattyathanya.
    • With Khirus far too crippled militarily to lead a meaningful assault on (Region 38) and the Picians looking to reclaim Hosra from the Empire while it wars with the northern powers an uneasy peace-by-stalemate settles across Palmor. Though the Republic is unlikely to tolerate the Azenhal claim to (Region 38) for long without war Agnet remains confident that achieving control of the region will allow Azenhal significant enough leverage in a second round of Palmor Peace Talks to ensure the safety of the populace, notably those who fought in the Sattyathanya and their families. Though the region remains heavily autonomous for now veterans are offered employment and purpose in Azenhal if they are willing to reject aggressive militancy in favor of defensive guardianship.
    • The threatening letter from the Realm of the Tides is noted but no action is taken. Though the letter implies an acceptance of the "terms" laid out at the failed Palmor Peace Conference no actual agreements except that drawn between Azenhal and the Sattyathanya had emerged from that conference upon the Burned Fields. Still, Agnet seems keen to avoid war and while the idea of sacking their own trading posts was still an idea considered too expensive and mostly pointless by almost all of her supporters she hoped the Picians might have in the last half decade or so discovered the rudimentary concept of exchange. It was her preference that some sort of payment could be arranged for the trading posts or a transfer of ownership to a more trusted trading partner rather than barbarically razing a functioning trade post to the ground for daring to exchange goods or services within the Realm of the Tides. Still, if the Picians were completely incapable of comprehending even these most basic economic principles it may be the Azen actually did follow through on their removal if only to avoid war. For now, no official reply is written or sent to the saber-rattling Speaker Wadagle.
    • Key to Agnet's support and ascension to head of state after Bram's death was the Oamenii Magi Vecto. Having been previously promised a commission within the Azenhal armies only to have it revoked in the face of increased demands on other fronts Agnet ensures the desert elf will not this time lose his position to outside machinations. Vecto is named a general of the Azenhal armies in a moderate ceremony and his Initiated Legions unified under his First Circle teachings quickly establish themselves as the backbone to the wider armies. Vecto appears to be a very capable general as well as an accomplished Magi earning him the praise and admiration of his troops.
    • With the addition of the Tresten Federation (36) and Palindor (37) to the administrative plate of Azenhal's leader and with the orchestrator of this unification dead Agnet calls for a meeting between herself, the ruler of Thune, her brother-in-law Gustan Redrock, and an assembly of fifteen delegates from Tresten. After meeting with each representative individually Agnet announces her intent to form a Confederacy between their realms. Whoever rules in Azenhal by the consent of the Azen and the three tribes shall serve as head of state and arbiter for the Confederation as well as maintaining direct control over the military. The other matters however would be left to local administration. Agnet invites the delegates to create a basic set of laws on which all members of the Confederation will abide aside from the ones she has already outlined. Whether this experiment will succeed or fail remains to be seen but for now it seems to work.
    • With the Khirese cowed by their defeat at the hands of the Sattyathanya and the Picians warring to reclaim Hosra from the Empire no immediate enemies lay on Azenhal's borders and Agnet uses the time to get her house in order. With the death of Bram the cult of personality he engendered was weakened and needed to be replaced. Agnet knew she could not hope to do it herself but by mere proliferation of factions internal issues could be diffused across regional bureaucracies. The Tresten Federation operated with a measure of populist control before their subjugation and had been content to remain looking inward. In an effort to cut off the means by which a centralized resistance could form martial law is lifted and the Federation restored the majority of its administrative rights. Azen become uncommon sites at road tolls or renovated "embassy" buildings in the region but by and large control is returned to the delight, and most importantly the distraction, of the people.

The Imperial State of Varjik/The Firethorn Regiment
    Vassal of the Avakonian Empire

Chieftess Feather of the Inkia Clan
    Diplomacy: 3
    Military: 2
    Economy: 5
    Intrigue: 3
    Faith: 2

    Actions for Round 10
    1. [Military] Defend R43 (Derokar) with 1 unit lead by Chieftess Feather (Mil 2)
Is Derokar a capital? If so, apply eleventh hour.
      +2 against magic tech
    2. [Military] Attack R54 (Kuniumi) with 1 unit lead by Mercenary Four Fingers (Mil 7)
Actioned until further notice. May be removed depending on negotiations.
Sedellan Armor Coating: +2 against magical techs
Combat Specialty: The Eleventh Hour applies
    3. [Military] Raise a unit
With the wealth of Region 52 in her pocket, Feather can finance a proper army to defend her borders. No new hiring or training is done, save for the ability to use proper weapons and armor. The core military for the Inkia Tribe is divided into two new sections, each one easily as competent individually as they were together and wanting for proper gear.
    4. [Economy 5] Improve Violet Oak --> Violet Ash (Region 53 - Derokar)
In response to Feather's brutish diplomatic attempt to discredit their faction at the war negotiations, the Floating Embers manage not only to sneak into the heartlands of the Inkia clan, but set their sacred woods aflame. It burns over many day, the people of the region helpless to stop it. Their armies are on the march to the west, and so they're powerless to stop this act of cruel vengeance.. However, something comes of it. The properties of Violet Oak are further refined as ashes, a once forbidden practice now clearly displayed across Derokar. The ashes when mixed into shamanistic concoctions are said to have all sort of possible psychological effects, but the most popular one is truth telling, where no concoctions are even required. Simply smudge it on the forehead of the person in question, and the magic already starts to sink in..
    5. [Diplomacy] Claim Ka-Ruun [Empress' Dip Score, supported by the Setjura Confederacy, +12 total] (Roll - 20)
The people of Ka-Ruun owe a debt to those of Varjik, and though it was by the decision of the Regiment to pursue their freedom Chieftess Feather has a point in mentioning that it was the people of her clans that fought the initial battles. The Setjura Confederacy in the south support their claim to the area, with the new government promising them that never again will they be forced to suffer while the inadequate Firethorn Regiment struggles to control their own lands. The pican traders are given a warning to stay away for causing so much unrest before, but no official action is taken yet.

      Non Actions:
Give the Setjura Confederacy permission to purchase any resource in the Firethorn Regiment territories not owned by the crown.
Give Ti Linnad permission to purchase any resource in the Firethorn Regiment territories not owned by the crown.
Accept unit gift from Ti Linnad. (Feather)

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show
    • As the loyalist army departed some years ago to deal with the invaders to Avakonia, Sofrid left a mercenary force to tend to the capital of Varjik that was more than capable of defending it against the low power attacks from Derokar. (Chieftess Feather.) At the end of the end of the battle, as the man still loyal to the crown went and died, and their leader - the one who was paying them - was captured, it was the perfect time for the tribal people to make their move. Chieftess Feather had seized the main wineries of Avakonia, plundering their fortunes to finance her army - the mercenaries that held the walls of Varjik who gladly chose the buyer with the higher price and easier task over taking a full on siege of the city. It was over in only a few days, the Chieftess making great changes very quickly all across the regions she now controlled in policy, structure, and ideals.
    • With the capture of Sofrid and the occupation of their homeland, the longstanding Firethorn Engineering Corps disband to go about repairing the damage done to Avaknonia. Their war is over with their regiment, and it seems that unless someone steps up to re-organize them that all of Amerah's effort re-organizing the Regiment will be lost. Jerak is livid with this (as per usual), and vocally expresses that even though they may have lost one part of their territory that they held up their honor and the glory of the empire where they could. That is worth more to him than even his homeland.. Not all things are lost forever, however.
    • After negotiations, Feather is said to be taking a more liberal approach to life.. Indulging in lovers, taking bolder risks, and generally fearing less for her long term well being. When questioned on these habits by her concerned advisors, she supposedly tells them that she's "A dead girl walking." Provoking the empire directly was a move she expects to lead to her immediate and permanent downfall.
    • Not all across the Regiment's lands will give in so easily. Whilst exiled from their homeland, Admiral Sereth (commander of the Firethorn Navy) starts to rally and train those who heed their banner of equality and justice. Mainly Avakonian men and women are pulled together to form an effective fighting force, which now features a decent portion of sea elves that the regiment has never worked with before. They go by 'The Floating Embers' for their oceanic fighting style. (Military unit First Avakonian Brigade reformed into the Burning Embers)

    News but also Rumors

    • Messengers from the far west spread the most disturbing of words. Evidence exists that the bloodied hands have taken up residence within the stone cities of the Shona. Where unfortunately is unknown, though many experts believe they reside somewhere within the regions vast rocky forests.
    • Many of the priest magi are restless about the recent cool down on proselytizing. Perhaps having this many Magi in one location is not a healthy sign for the government
    • Ixtilli in his advanced age has devoted the remainder of his life to roaming across Emjata. What fist seemed like a pilgrimage to the west has morphed into a journey to understand the true nature of magic. Rumor has it he accompanied the Initiate exploration to northern Regner. While many believe he'll never return, many of the younger magi are captivated by this mans search for enlightenment.
    • Envoys are sent by Teppin are poised to survey the eastern coast of Palmor in order to study the people of these isolated lands
    • Dueling among Magi is frowned upon, partly due to the magi being fairly difficult to train and partly due it to the most common forms of magic in Coatl perijanism being rather time intensive to practice. Typically duels start with both Magi choosing either to sacrifice a small animal or a portion of their own blood in order to cast their opening spells. Once these opening spells have been cast the duels devolve in to a hand to hand bout where the feuding magi compete with clubs and daggers.
    • Many merchants and mercenary veterans of the southern wars feel skittish about Teppin's moves to make nice with the republic of Khirus. Many of these secular figures have joined a party of dissatisfied priest to visit the Honorable lord Ferreth.
    • More and more lazarites have traveled to the holy sites of Uxmal to be trained as Magi
    • Before departing Kayrs, Atl the Large paid respect at the heretical Tomb of the Queen's, content in the knowledge that warrior far greater than himself were buried beneath.

    The Gwitna Coalition
    Grand Warden Ferreth
    Regions 23, 24, 25, & 26
    Round 10

    Actions

    1. [Diplomacy]Host an event: The Leislurrigan Negotiations.
    Spoiler: OOC on the Event
    Show
Everyone is welcome, but the event is intended to be for negotiations involving the war against Avakonia. If you have no relationship with that war, you can probably expect to not have much to say.
    Sub-actions:
    -Vassalize to the Avakonian Empire
-Give the Avakonian Empire 3 Units
-Give the Avakonian Empire Captain Sofrid of the Firethorn Regiment
    2. [Diplomacy 10] Become a Great Kingdom. Lord Ferreth, as the husband of Exarch Tenoch's daughter Anci Cuahuey, is the real heir to the theocracy of Coatl. He thus calls upon Tepin to swear fealty to the rightful ruler of both nations. In the winter of 131, Adril Ferreth holds a ceremony in which he invents the title Grand Warden of the Badan and appoints himself to the position. As part of the decorum of the new greater nation, he also commissions a specially made canoe paddle carved from golden yew, inlaid with antler blades along the edges and point, and painted with the Flag of the Coalition to serve as his badge of Office.
    3. [Intrigue 10] Invent Technology: Polearm Paddles Gwitna pirates have recently taken to sharpening their canoe paddles into deadly weapons capable of stabbing and chopping. A combination of master craftsmanship and magical sharpening techniques learned from the shushan will ensure that Gwitna vessels have a crew that is armed to the teeth at all times.
Mechanical Effect: Merchant Princes may choose to spend their 6th action on a Raid instead of an Economy action.
    Resource requirement: Wood
    4. [Intrigue] Steal technology: Obsidian Fire from Regno. Roll 15. Seeking new techniques for using their obsidian glass for destruction and carnage, a pair of Gwitna thieves set out for Regno to learn the secrets they were taught by the Khirese. They put on headbands to cover up their round ears, paint a few fake tattoos onto their bodies, and disguise themselves as Initiates in an attempt to sit in on classes about the proper techniques for grinding obsidian glass into more powerful explosives. If questioned about their studies, they claim to be studying musical composition and launch into a stream of made-up academic sounding words. Even if their rather rudimentary disguises fail, the hope is that the friendly Regnans will be too passive to challenge them on it.
    5. [Intrigue] Raid unnocupied TP 3 of Region 48 (Karis) for Wheat. Roll 15 Seeing the doors of opportunity in Karis closing fast, a group of house Magpie thieves and burglars canoe to Karis to steal or forge deeds of ownership to Wheatfields while the territory still belongs to the theocracy of Coatl.

    News and Rumors
When Suicide Sandor returns to Glen Gwitna with the remnants of his army, they are met on the shore by the militia raised by the Lazarites in their absence. Sandor's already tenuous control over his ranks slips, and several hundred canoes run up flags of surrender before making landfall. Sandor himself is quickly apprehended, and Lord Ferreth takes note of the potentially quite valuable Captain Sofrid that Suicide Sandor managed to take prisoner in Avakon.

With control of his nation back, Lord Ferreth sees fit to send a decree to Lazarite missionaries in the coalition thanking them for their services in freeing him, but stipulating that the Shushan, who displayed equal valor in their attempts, are as welcome in the capitol of the Gwitna Coalition as they ever were, and that attempts to keep them from the land they were granted by Ferreth himself should be treated as hostile action.

Lord Ferreth imprisons Suicide Sandor in the same cell in Tloon Redlan that he himself was consigned to (after replacing the door, since the old one was obviously not secure enough). Rumors abound that Sandor will be executed for his treachery, but Lord Ferreth seems to recall that others have bounties out on Sandor; bounties that could potentially be collected upon. If there's one thing that warms an old pirate's heart more than getting revenge, it's getting paid.

Lord Ferreth creates a competition for the people of Glen Gwitna, offering the thief that can successfully steal his hat a permanent position in his court.

Garydur Omohalen, forced to flee to his hut in the woods once again after his Jalyeong-bo converts are either converted or forced out of the sanctified caverns, is spending his time harrumphing around, talking to the spirits, and making herbal remedies for his back pains.

A middle-aged house beaver translator by the name of Ornme is sent to Regno accompanied by his wife Drissa Renolen (also of house Beaver) to share with the scholars there the Gwitna and Shushan's work in translating the pician language.

Lord Ferreth sends a messenger to Regno to inform them that an ambassador would be welcome.

    Setjura Confederacy, Round 10
    Regions 73-74, 60

    Actions:
    1. [Diplomacy] Establish marriage claim on Region 72
The people in [Region 72] have so far stubbornly refused any attempts at dealing with them, but partnering with them is deemed vital for the future of the Confederacy. A marriage between Kodora and the ruler's sister is proposed. It would be purely political, as the pair cannot procreate. Unfortunately the [Region 72]ers remain as stubborn as ever. Roll: 11

    2. [Diplomacy] Increase reputation with the Omanush Convoys
Maintaining good relations with the Omanush is likely to be a boon for trade, and so a representative is sent to the groups most immediate to the Confederacy's shores with offers of cooperation. Roll: 15

    3. [Economy] Buyout TP #2 in Region 58
The Council is delighted by Feather's willingness to support the Confederacy's economic interests. Traders soon depart with the intent to purchase the famed Sedellan Glass from Varjik. A purchase of Derokar's Violet Oak is also planned, but it has to be cancelled because of the arson in the forests. Because of this the merchants have a surplus of capital with which to make the purchase in Varjik. Roll: 20

    4. [Economy] Buyout TP #1 in Region 60
The haphazard looting of ruins in Wasipacha must be put to an end. Several regulations on the artifact trade are put in place, and some of the ruins are put under the administration of the newly re-established local government. Roll: 13

    5. [Faith] Great Project (5/5)
The collected Seretse stories and myths are compiled into a multi-volume book. Reflecting on it's results, the Jalyeong-bo learned have determined it likely that every race has it's own great spirit to guard and guide them. The local Perijanists have eagerly incorporated the new deities into their pantheon, while some shamans have taken the status of a few Perijanist gods up for reconsideration.

    Nonactions:
    • Support Varjik claim on Ka-Ruun - The Confederacy informs the people of Ka-Ruun of it's support for Feather's claim for the control of the region.
    • Support Whitefeather buyout in Roagan [74] for Pearls - The Whitefeather traders are welcomed into Roagan, with hope of future prospects.

    Spoiler: News and rumors
    Show

    • Some of the leaders of the troops that surrendered in Wasipacha are identified and executed. The other prisoners of war are put into forced labor to aid in the rebuilding of the region.
    • After the prodding by Jannellai in the Summit of Ti Linnad, research is made on the topic of the Destroyer. After some searching the notes of Ajustana's expedition are recovered, but the locations for the statues have been lost during the chaos of the civil war and must be found again. A copy of the notes and this information is relayed to Ti Linnad, even though there is considerable doubt whether this includes anything the Pylliar wouldn't already know. (OOC: Thanks for reminding me about this Minescratcher!)
    • Kodora and the council are both surprised and apprehensive when they learn of the missive from Mareen, but they give Shara Jjasca a friendly welcome nonetheless. She is placed in the Filihoi monastery for now, where Taigon and the other monks use Imperial for communicating with her until each can learn the others' language.
    • The council meetings have on more than one occasion developed into disorderly chaos, as there can be up to hundreds of representatives present at once. With Odenege's assistance, Kodora initiates a restructuring of the council: Both the Seretse and the Roagans will have four councilors. Goblins are finally welcomed into the council and receive two spots, as will the Wasipachans should they accept the invitation to formally join the Confederacy. Each group can choose their councilors as they see fit, and they will vote for the leader of the council from among themselves, who will not be counted among the representatives of any of the factions.
    • The old council is dubbed the Gathering of Chiefs, and will decide on matters only including Kadanga, while the new Council will have the power in matters that are of interest to the Confederacy as a whole.
    • The reform and the inclusion of goblins are unpopular in some circles, particularly those that used to oppose Odenege. That the leader of the Council's powers are still not clearly defined is a further cause of friction in the political circles of the Confederacy.
    • The wars are against the Empire are followed with keen interest. Feather's victory in [Region 52] is particularly celebrated in Roagan. The news of the Gwitna vassalizing to the Empire, however, are met with shock and disdain.
    • A party of hunters and adventurers launch a hunting expedition in Wasipacha and do not return.

    Turn 10 (year 130-132)
    The Serene Marasa Pride
    Mareen (Region 77)
    Lagos Khompur Ssuras

    Preparation turns
    1. [Military] The prides have been united under the one “Serene” Marasa Pride. Lagos has dueled and defeated the last hold outs and the Rakshasa are now one united people. This display of unity is pushed by the King of the prides by forcing units together that are not made of traditional families. The tactics used against them by Dejan and strategies to defeat them are pounded into the heads of the Rakshasa females. 1 unit is formed they are designated claw 1
    2. [Military] Lagos realizes that the natural ferocity of their people is not to be underestimated as well as their lack of understanding of this worlds warriors and so fighting a one man war is no longer possible. Lagos creates 1 unit the mane those warriors who are considered the best trained 500 elite Pride members who will live only to protect the alpha and his harem.
    3. [Military] The pride scouts talk of large troop numbers in the south thousands marching and conquering lands beyond the mountains. Realizing half measures are impossible another 800 lionesses are assembled they create 1 unit and they are designated fang 1.
    4. [Military] Revolutionary ideas are passed around the council of Raja a group put together by the Serene king Lagos. There are many male Rakshasa not part of the bloodlines of these lesser pride alphas or the king himself. They are considered worthless and good for little more then stirring up trouble or manual labor and so an opportunity for improvement is offered. Join the army and become more then trash of society. These hungry males are given food, lodging and military training in exchange for their blood and fang. 1 Unit of Mongrels is created.
    5. [Intrigue] Lagos realized spending time with many human slaves that they were loud and clumsy the pride were naturally silent, predatory creatures with better hearing and the king presumed they could utilize these skills against the humans and elves and so created the Riebarri a group of assassins, trackers and spies.

    This turn
    1. [Military] (Military Specialization Pack tactics- using 3 units or less to attack d12) The pride is most skilled in small groups of family units moving and hunting targets together. Attacking from bizarre angles and relying on their individual combat skills to smash through lines. When the armies are small and versatile and the tactics are more flowing they are most effective at war.
    2. [Intrigue] Reports come in the people of (region ??) sell their own kind that they just leave their people out in the open with not enough guards to protect those they keep in bondage and so a raid is planned to steal more of them and force them into their appropriate roles for the Rakshasa. The beasts cut through these stupid merchants with ease and soon their property becomes property of the pride. SUCCESS
    3. [Intrigue] Region 82 were weak what they had did not matter, what mattered was letting them know the lions of the jungle were emerging and the plains and coasts would belong to the strong. SUCCESS
    4. [Diplomacy] The plains of (region 78) were abandoned by the pride when Dejan arrived. They gave it up and others moved in. Now the kings of the savannah return. Hands reach out to those who live there. Locals of mix breed a savage group of nomads who the pride respected. They were not men at least not like Dejans troops they appeared stronger thicker creatures and some showed similar blood to the lions with massive bodies and powerful frames. The humans call them goliaths. The king offers up his first son Bagheera Khompur Ssuras to the largest tribe of nomads daughter. SUCCESS
    5. [Diplomacy] Messengers are sent out to Wuzei Darak, Kadangan Wetlands and (region 79) Cloaked Rakshasa arrive carrying sealed scrolls of papyrus and banana leaves. A large paw print on the front of each.
scrawled out in the language of the slaves "imperial" they make their announcement.

    Acknowledged Alpha of Wuzei Darak

    Greatest grandson of Khompur
    Lagos Khompur Ssuras

    • Lagos led five hundred of his Rakshasa lionesses against Jyoti Rrasa the last independent tribe that Lagos’s father had been unwilling to make heel. Jyoti had been like an uncle to Lagos but rumors within his council and harem is that he was obsessed with the idea that they could not move past the jungle until they were united. A battle fitting the human armies broke out. Both sides were now trained in the tactics of their enemies and when all was said and done over a hundred Rakshasa were dead but the Rrasa family was captured Jyoti was forced to kneel before a boy he helped raise. It was not Lagos who ended his life. It was Lagos’s childhood friend and son of Jyoti Rrasa in exchange for control of his family the first son Takari Rrasa early in the year 130.
    • Late in the year 130 the council of Raja was put together. The titles of alpha and kings was abandoned for only one Rakshasa. Family heads are now declared “Raja” and the council were those who once led their own bloodlines. These rakshasa males are respected by Lagos and so he wishes to give them a voice. The prides are allowed to follow their Raja so long as all follow the order of their king. The council is made up of Takari Rrasa, Indira Kkoya, Harshad Mminas, and Chanda Pprata.
    • The council of Raja quickly proves its worth as they talk the wild young king Lagos out of war on multiple occasions. They see land on all sides and the jungles now too small for their people. Lagos declares his birth right to (region 78) but they recommend tact over violence. The offer is made to the nomads so Lagos young son can begin his harem. The offer goes out in 131.
    • The Riebarri are founded and Takari Rrasa is put in charge of the organization. He is now being called the bloody claw Raj behind his back he is called kinslayer.
    • A new form of combat is being cultivated within the Rakshasa. Dejan is burned into their memory but as they recall the size of the force they know it will be many years before they can match so many troops so instead they begin to develop strategies that utilize smaller pack tactics. A combination of arrow barrages and then ferocious shock troops shattering lines and ripping apart their traditional tactics. Adding bizarre direction and small squads with terrain strategy and tactics that utilize the full advantages of their race. The genius forced to create such a strategy was Harshad Mminas and his Mira pet he named Naro a blonde human girl considered quite stunning for their race. So pretty in fact rumors would have circulated about Harshad had he not created such a brilliant combat strategy.
    • The Marasa harem is nervous about Lagos declaring unity and immediately sending Rakshasa out to raid and steal from their neighbors. One of his most influential concubines Tashan Kkoya currently baring her first child for Lagos and considered the favored of the kings harem for now. She has recommended letters be sent out to the powerful kings in the south to show them respect. She was successful as by the year 132 two members of Lagos’s harem (rumored rivals of Tashans) were sent to these foreign lands and given to these two kings in the hopes of establishing some sort of peace.
    • The mongrels (Rakshasa males not born into one of the Rajas or the kings bloodline) complain that slaves are being treated like them. They insist they be given oppurtunites to prove themselves in this bright new world. Mongrel (VERY derogatory term) units are put together to give them a chance to prove their worth to the new serene king. The assumption is battle will kill the lot.

    Round 11: Begin!
    Imperial Reckoning 133-135
Don’t forget to link to any rolls you make for ANY Attribute checks, plus rolls for rulers you will start using at the start of next round. If you want a new ruler in the next round, you must state so in your action post for this round and link to their rolls. Any increases from actions for this round are counted for the ruler you start your next round with (because it’s handier to account for by the co-GM), which may or may not be your current ruler.

    Good luck!

    Rules Alerts & Changes!

Ruler changes, starting with changes that are initiated next turn, will advance instability in the capital region. As usual, this instability will not increase on it's own if resource requirements are met. This is intended to represent the difficulties in inheritance and uncertainty of political factions within government, which must often be replaced by loyalists or otherwise assuaged. For this reason, the TN to reduce Unrest in the capital region the turn after a succession is reduced by 2 (much the same way stabilising Conquered regions is easier if done immediately following the Conquest).

    Growth!
Under the guidance of the Yasei Clans the warriors of the Kunai Clans are deeply ingrained with the teachings and understandings of the “true name”, the practice of Honmyo. To all things there is a name and so too does this apply to warfare and the way it is waged by those who know this truth. Many Yasei have and yet still travel to spread the teachings of the True Name and so too shall they defend those who invoke its power. (Kunai Clans introduces a Military Specialization - Warriors of the Yasei Clans, Fighting in Regions w/ 2 Honmyo Centers)

Dvatla fights the sprawling Avakonian Empire on one front and seals cutthroat marital politics against its smaller neighbors on another. The copper rich region south of the Gakhus River is enfolded into the expanding Dvatlan demesne, its autonomy and soldiery forfeited to Khasglis. (Dvatla fully claims Region 13! Dvatla gains 1 Unit)

Azenhal closes the claim established by the late Magus Bram in his meeting of friendship with Yatabuyai Yadaoyai at the Conference of the Burned Fields. Aaenna, Land of a Thousand Mirrors (38) joins the patchwork Confederation of Almor. Host to a number of Sattyathanya militants some join the armies of Azenhal but not all. (Azenhal fully claims Region 38! Azenhal gains 1 Unit)

Azenhal boasts a new strategist upon the field of battle as Magi Vecto, a Regnan transplant to the region, is named to the position of a general in the armies. The Initia practitioner is known for his utility of magic upon the battlefield and unconventional warfare attributed to his time spent as a resistance fighter under the Pician occupation. (Azenhal has a new General - Magi Vecto - 9)

Though much has transpired in Ka-Ruun and within the Firethorn Regiment the facts remain that it was the Regiment who first sought to free the slaves of the region from their bondage and it was the slaves who won the civil war that followed the Regiment’s eviction. It seems natural that the slaves who won their freedom through bloodshed welcome the prospect of the Regiment returning along with training and opportunity. Though many seek to live simple lives as freedmen there are plenty who see the only true freedom in a blade and the skill to use it. The region quickly pledges to aid the flailing Regiment in whatever way it can. (Ka-Ruun (62) is fully claimed by the Firethorn Regiment! The Firethorn Regiment gains 2 Units)

Teppin’s courtship of the Azonite trader’s daughter in (Region 31) has turned into a torturous affair as the girl’s father works to try and force a deal from the lovestruck Exarch while being blocked and denied such special privileges by the Exarch’s preexisting sycophants and hangers-on. Teppin at last seizes the girl and weds her by his own holy authority only to discover her father was rather less influential than he had claimed. Work remains to be done that Teppin’s rash marriage to a simple Azonite merchant’s daughter is made to be seen in the region as a step towards the Exarch’s rightful claim to its rulership. (Theocracy of Coatl has partially claimed Region 31)

Years of growth and prosperity are not so easily interrupted even by civil war and the internationally scandalous acts of Suicide Sandor. The Gwitna Coalition has grown large and healthy on raiding and cunning expansion and at last emerges as a Great Kingdom upon Emjata. Soon after the Coalition accepts the vassalage of the Theocracy of Coatl before itself submitting to the Empress of Avakon. A Great Kingdom, liege, and vassal both the Coalition has changed much in the past few years. (Gwitna Coalition is now a Great Kingdom! Gwitna Coalition is now a vassal to the Avakonian Empire! The Theocracy of Coatl is now a vassal to the Gwitna Coalition and the Avakonian Empire!)

The Serene Marasa Pride emerges with a militancy in the southwest but they are not the great army builders of the Empire or the horde massers of the Picians. The members of the Pride learn to fight utilizing small unit tactics better suited to fewer active combatants. It is a new tactic and it remains to be seen how well it will turn out but no doubt it shall be tested soon. (Serene Marasa Pride introduces Military Specialization - Pack Tactics, attacking with 3 or fewer units)

The Serene Marasa Pride has made overtures of friendship the powerful giantfolk who inhabit Region 78. Despite stealing the region’s slaves it seems the Pride wishes to cooperate with its neighbor rather than fight them and at least some in the region seem willing to listen. (Seren Marasa Pride develops a claim to Region 78)

The once imperial Tin Coast adapts quickly to the rules and laws of its new Linnadi masters who remain a frightening memory storming through the minor garrison the Empress had sent to hold the region and remain present marching through on their way to further war. (Wybrez (18) stabilizes)

Khirus works overtime to settle the rampant discontent running through its lands. In the Basins and in the capital measures taken by the government seem to settle the unrest and quell a greater threat rising against it. (Khirus (40) and the Basins (41) stabilizes)

The once mindless Pician horde is coming to be recognized, perhaps mostly internally among those forced to deal with the aquatic invaders as overlords, as fiersom and barbaric but not wholly unreasonable. For those willing to give the water breathers the tribute they want and not stand in their way they seem willing to tolerate relative autonomy. Their armies are entirely composed of Picians leaving many healthy young men to find work other than military service. For those who work around them peace can be found. (Lior (43) stabilizes)

Within their sunken realm the Picians at last seem to settle from the chaos wrought by the surfacer shamans. Wadagle has led the Picians to great victories and his leadership may even exceed the accomplishments of any Speaker to come before according to some. The Picians have grown large and have many waters to breed and feed in thanks to Wadagle. The Speaker has brought growth and stability to his new empire! (Fresia (70) stabilizes)

Cowed by conquest even in the face of killing the enemy commander Tresten falls in line with their new masters in Azenhal. The region accepts a role of subservience to the volcanic city and its hinterlands who now control such a large swath of Palmor. (Palendor (36) stabilizes)

    Faith!

Honmyo seems to spread as quickly as the fire in the once sacred and lush violet glades of Derokar now reduced to ash. It is the way of things, the way of names. Now the oak is ash so too are the people of an understanding with the truth of Honmyo. A majority of the tribal lands most holy sites are held in the true name and it seems fate turns to favor the mysterious cult. (Derokar 53 HC 3 is converted from Open to Honmyo)

It is perhaps little surprise that in their recently acquired island holding the magic-loving Desert Kingdom of Regno seeks to push out the cultish veneration of Dejan and introduce their system of ‘rational thinking’ to the region. Anti-magic pro-Dejan messages are countered with demonstration of the wonders of Initia, magic, and scholarly brotherhood. In Loup Jumeau Initiates manage to wrest control of the Cathedral from anti-magic Dejanites and begin working to reverse the sentiment throughout the city. (Deaux (56) HC 1 is converted from Dejanite to Initia)

Looking closer to Amham the shamans from the Federation move to provide support to the beleaguered Perivan who has suffered mightily at the hands of those surrounding it. The region is largely devoid of organized direction with a Dejanite preisthood boasting themselves as the sole purveyors of any authentic truths. Shamans could certainly help guide the region and they find themselves welcomed into the region by a people searching for direction. (Perivan (15) HC 2 is converted from Open to Jalyeong-bo)

Driven with fiery passion the lazarite adherents of Coatl Perijanism drive out Jalyeong-bo shamans from the continent along their western island border. With a great push the lazarites have seized control of the region’s major holy sites and completely eliminated organized Jalyeong-bo influence in the region. (Region 27 HC 1 & 3 are converted from Jalyeong-bo to Coatl Perijanism)

With the religion expanding quickly and gaining adherents across Emjata Coatl Perijanism emerges even stronger upon the world stage. Largest of the more modern organized religions the worship of Xincoatl becomes especially difficult to uproot as it spreads, not dissimilar to the shamans of Jalyeong-bo. (Coatl Perijanism Organized Religion Size Bonus 15+ HCs = +1 to Resist Conversions)

Ti Linnad looks to not only establish secular dominion over the lords and people of the Tin Coast but to seize that most valuable tin exported from the region’s mines. The Linnadi actively fight the Empire and so do not hesitate in bringing offers to bear against the Imperial magistrates operating within the region. Seeing which way the wind is blowing the mine operators capitulate to their new overlords. (TLD buys out TP 1 for Tin in Wybrez (18) from AVK))

Supported by the lazarites Ti Linnad contracts with the Black Company mercenaries operating out of the eastern islands. A number of contract bound mercenaries depart westward to take up positions within Ti Linnad and its armies as needed. (TLD buys out TP 2 for Mercenaries in Isles of Lazar (28) from LZR)

The Setjura Confederacy moves to purchase a stake in the Sedellan Glass market of Varjik and their own recent acquisition, Wasipacha. With superior technology and local support they quickly establish economic control in these regions. Exports of the strange anti-magic glass are soon traveling south to the Confederacy in caravans and merchant ships while more and more artifacts of note are brought before curious Setjuran traders. (KDG buys out TP 2 for Sedellan Glass in Varjik (58) and TP 2 for Artifacts in Wasipacha (60) )

The Amham Federation, in need of precious metals to satiate spirit and populace, look to Avakonia for a supply. Merchants offer sacrifices to the spirits in hopes of fruitful negotiations and that their tongues may turn as silver as the wares they wish to purchase, and just as many offerings are made to Avakonian tradesmasters, but it is all for naught, as they meet refusal after refusal…until a local bureaucrat hears, and decides to take matters into their own hands. Avakonia, in desperate need of supplies and coin, can afford to reacquire their silver mines later; a lump sum payment is more important now. The cost, however, is staggering, and for the moment Amham finds itself somewhat more indebted to Avakonian interests than it may have preferred… (AMF buys out TP 1 for Silver in region 49 from AVA)

Inyoni traders find themselves looking for high-value goods, and with government funds head off to seek out new sources of riches for the Crescent. In Roagan, they find themselves soaring over glistening waters, pearls at their hearts. Though the price is high, once the leaders of the Setjuran Confederacy realize how useful the sharp-eyed birds of Inyoni are for spotting the gleam of pearls in the depths, an accord is swiftly reached. Meanwhile, in Jherki, Dry merchants are barely persuaded to part with their sapphires, thanks to numerous demonstrations of good faith and no less than three marriage between the various merchant families.

The Jianta Federation, reluctant to send their ships into the Badan after Lazar and Gwitna so casually assaulted their merchants, decide to look elsewhere for trade opportunities. (WZD buys out TP 1 for Cloudwing Piranhas in Cawv Dej (76), TP 1 for Allspice in Razzak (39), and TP 3 for Obsidian Glass in Khirus (40) )

Omanush Buyouts (OMN buy out TP 1 for Hydra Lillies in region 3, TP 2 for Hlaali Bark in Deaux (56), and TP3 for Giant's Silk of Reflas (11) )

    War!

Down they came, bold and bright in countenance,
From the land of rivers, where old gods hold sway.
They marched grim in purpose, noble in stance,
And the King of D̨vatla did march that day.

Firm they stood, with strength in hand.
Born of this soil, and with purpose to stay,
Firm of bearing and hard of heart, to defend their land.
The King of D̨vatla did watch that day.

The wind was fierce, but fiercer still,
    The warriors who strove and sought to slay;
The rain was cold, but firm of will,
The King of D̨vatla did fight that day.

His task was clear, his plan perfect,
The giant of old must make to pay.
The foe was keen, with discipline strict,
But the King of D̨vatla did lead that day.

The grass stained red as the battle grew thick,
And the footing of his foe refused to stray.
Just one clever maneuver, one cunning trick,
And the King of D̨vatla would win the day.

Mile over mile the crusaders overtook,
As the foe sought their own losses to allay,
Southward they fought, and south did they look,
And the King of D̨vatla did ride that day.

The west left behind, the east forgotten,
The defenders left without means to parlay.
    They needed action, something to take back then;
And the King of D̨vatla was ahead that day...

A desperate plan, forged of wounded pride,
    A diversion, a charge, and to the gods they would pray;
Their only hope to ensure Khäsglis was left wide,
So the King of D̨vatla might fall that day.

Their ruse a success, and yet their chances stark,
They struck for the king, guards forced from their way,
And the spears and slings of the foe found their mark
And the King of D̨vatla did die that day.

The King of D̨vatla did die that day.

The fate of the northern strait of the Central sea is at hand as the battle-hardened invaders of Ti Linnad enter, opposed by the Empress herself. While the bold move by Sennu Moku provides a large amount of early success, gaining control of all the eastern ports, a period of storms severely hampers their aerial capabilities. The Empress, long in tooth, decides that while a true engagement is deadly, she has the advantage of time over Sennu, and cuts off all access to the ports. It is a close-run thing, as the Linnadi utilise their new techniques to drain the land and sustain themselves far longer than they could otherwise. Late in the campaign, the Linnadi almost manage to ambush a large portion of her army, but are thwarted by a local beekeeper indignant at all the weird creatures stealing his honey and eating his bees. With the failure of this gambit, Sennu is forced to withdraw, but with the sheer devastation caused, it is certainly far from a total defeat.

Mumei was cunning; but the tribes of Derokar had neighbored the lands of Kuniumi for centuries, and where the Kunai thought themselves above their neighbors, untainted by untrue Names, Four Fingers had simply learned. Learned the tricks and illusions and ambushes the Kunai liked to play, and simply...avoided them. He led his troops around each obstacle and trap, securing each town individually. Their numbers were large enough to avoid being picked off, but small enough to survive on captured stores and forage, and Mumei's opportunity slipped further and further. When at last she was forced to confront the Captain, his diligence and patience undoing her every trap, her lack of experience in directing open combat such as this was proven.

Chieftess Feather, upon hearing of a small but dedicated force heading towards her to ensure the end of her actions, leaps from her seat and downs her wine, before rushing to the door. Unwilling to call back her army attacking Kuniumi, she settles instead for whoever she has to hand, and with little consideration for advice, rushes her forces straight to where the enemy was last reported.
The Kunai army, upon seeing Feather, sets itself up in a standard line, waiting for orders. In a move that would otherwise not work, Feather charges the enemy alone while mounted, and manages to draw off a large amount of the front line while she flees back around her lines. This bold tactic allows her forces to take the initiative and charge the disarrayed Kunai line, and utterly surround and destroy it. Feather herself slays multiple of her pursuers, before friendly forces arrive and deal with the rest. This leaves the invasion force scattered at best, with those few survivors discretely returning home, while Feather returns to great jubilation.

Gwitnan pirates seeking to take advantage of the relative disorganization presented by the occupation and now transfer of Karys by the Theocracy of Coatl to the Empire move to harass the major shipping lanes along the coast. The local administration is unable to properly respond and it isn’t long before local wheat merchants are volunteering a tribute rather than facing a raid on the sea by the viciously effective Gwitnan canoes. (GWT raids TP 3 for Wheat in Karys (48)

A fearsome pack of wildmen said to bear the semblance of lions emerge in southern Estensule and quickly move to establish their dominance. First moving to their north the pack seizes control of a reliable source of slaves who might carry out more menial tasks. Next they look further up their coast and demand tribute from the people who inhabit these more northern lands. Tribute is given in the form of the region’s famous Darkfired Ceramics to the militant pride. (SMP raids TP 1 for Slaves in Region 78 and TP 1 for Darkfired Ceramics in Region 82)

In Llët̨sällë, death stalks. The Bloodied Hands' work is evident, as the destruction of several dozen fishing boats, usually harvesting the Dragon Shrimp native to the area, scares off local merchants and investors, who seek less dangerous profit...this is likely a smart decision, given that over the course of the next several months, anyone still involved in bulk transport of the shrimp is killed, and many fishermen intimidated or given bloody and heavy-handed messages into ceasing their sales. (RGO TP 2 for Dragon Shrimp in Llët̨sällë (10) is Sacked!)

Meanwhile, in Avakonia, something similar happens in the recently seized Mustard Fields currently supplying Izbefe, save with a great deal more fire and destroyed farms. (IZB TP 1 for Mustard Seed in Region 50 is Sacked!)

In Aniachaket, many more people have been afflicted by Reaper Crab poison than usual, it seems, and they are not recovering as quickly, even with the aid of foreign herbs that once helped soothe the inflammation and pains the reaper’s poison causes. So far, one in every five afflicted with the strange symptoms (which, from the rumors, have no discernible commonality, though that may merely be the hysteria of commoners) have been unable to recover, remaining bedridden for months at a time, from what has been dubbed ‘Crabbin’ Fever’. Despite the catchy name, the fever has afflicted even those not involved with harvesting Reaper Crabs, though thus far it has been limited to coastal communities. Aniachaket has been struck by Plague(Unknown)!

[Military - Attack 54 (Derokar) - 3 troops - Led by Sofrid]: The Kunai for the first time in years march with the Shushan among them. Though tensions are high, they are not insurmountable, for even the Shushan are willing to fight and die to keep Kuniumi secure.

[Military - Raise 1 Troop]: The Yasei Clan is slowly gaining power throughout the region.

[Military - Raise 1 Troop]: The Yasei Clan is slowly gaining power throughout the region.

[Military - Raise 1 Troop]: The Yasei Clan is slowly gaining power throughout the region.

[Secret - Roll (16)]: The Satsujin are on the move...

    News and Rumors

-Mumei is defeated within the holy lands of the Kunai, and all eye her with contempt. Her plan had not only failed, but catastrophically so. The arrival of Shushan forces only further delegitimizes her claims to control her people, and the Satsujin's claims to be guardians.

-Chieftess Feather's response is met with incredulity, and rage. Especially from Mumei.

"She attacked the Kunai's very home, burned our forests, slaughtered our people for naught but to assuage her bruised ego... And she dares to call herself merciful?!"

-When Starbreather learns of Feather's attack, she has this to say:
"I called her a fool. In her attempt to prove me wrong, she proved me right. Just because it worked out for the dumb %$# doesn't mean it was a good idea."

-Emissary is unusually distant as news reaches him from home, little of it encouraging. Even his wife doesn't always know where he is anymore, though he's always home in time for bed. It's unknown if he tells her of his worries, or what those worries may be.

-Shushan's concern for his homeland similarly impacts his behavior. When several of his people leave to go help, he does not reprimand them. Though they were banished, Kuniumi is the Shushan home as well.

-Shushan's son prepares for his Gwitna Orca trial, with only one friend with him: a girl by the name of Tileis Aviyn. No one else goes with them, for among the Gwitna he is an outcast, and among the Shushan none but his mother and father care. Eventually, the son turns back, knowing that he and Tileis could not possibly complete the trial alone. But perhaps they will not need to...

-Minanova has a daughter. She names her Beyis, though Shushan refers to her as 'daughter'.

    Clans:
    Shushan Clan (Ruler)
Appointed as regional governors (daimyo) when Dejan originally conquered the region. Posses most legitimate claim to the region, legally speaking, as well as the most detailed historical record. Experts in court intrigue and assassination. Avakonia loyalists, currently in exile from Kuniumi

    Chojo Clan (Butterfly)
All-female. More open to foreign influence than other clans. Males born to them are quickly cast out, usually to the Satsujin, Amidasu or to the original father. Specialize in genuine diplomacy and social stealth (appearing harmless and/or exercising authority they do not truly have).

    Yasei (Wild)
Makes heavy use of animals and elements found in the wild. Members often bond with one particular animal companion for life. Greatest scouts, have one of the only cavalry forces in the region. They are also heavily religious.

    Amidasu Clan (to devise)
Inventors and scientists. Have the greatest wordsmiths.

    Satsujin (Killer)
Ninjas among ninjas. Guardians of Kuniumi, primary concern is the safety and well-being of its clans. All members learn at least some wordsmithing. Experts in stealth and assassination.

[Diplomacy 5 - Cultural Identity - The Satsujin - Secret Actions]: The Satsujin are a secretive clan composed almost entirely of Wordsmiths. They do their best work in the dark, hiding from prying eyes. Some might call it cowardly, but not openly. At least not for long.

[Military 5 - Military Specialization - Yasei Clan (Fighting in Regions w/ 2 Honmyo Centers)]: The Yasei Clan is the most zealous and militaristic of the clans. They will protect the faithful wherever they are found, for that is their mission.

[Military - Defend Region 68 - 4 regions of travel - 3 Units (Mumei - Mil 7)]: The Kunai are not made for protracted, traditional warfare, and the Picians both outnumber them and outfight them. Mumei knows this better than anyone. But there is no choice; they must fight.

[Military - Raise a unit]: The Chojo clan goes on another recruitment drive throughout the lands of Kuniumi, rousing up more young lads to fight for the Kunai clans, if the need arises.

Realm of the Tides, Round Eleven
    Speaker Wadagle

    Actions
    1. [Diplomacy] Though Hosra is back in our grip, the people remember the horrors accompanying Wadagle's first invasion. We took everything from them - their King, their lives, their High Priestess, all stolen from them by the Picians. It is obvious that they do not wish to live under our power, but the least we can do is return High Priestess Kelios to her seat of authority and leave the poor people of Hosra to themselves. They have the right to an authority of their own kind, whether or not this will distract them from our monolithic presence is a different matter. (Stabilize Region 68 (Hosra); Roll: 16)
    2. [Military] The Empire thought that we would be content with just Hosra? Such fools… They have no inkling of our true intentions. The majority of Wadagle's forces continue to follow the Pellocian northward, eager to crush whatever stands in their way. (Invade Region 66 with 3 units under Speaker Wadagle (Mil8) for a total bonus of +11)

The Inkia Rebellion / Firethorn Regiment
    Vassal of the Avakonian Empire?

Chieftess Feather of the Inkia Clan
    Diplomacy: 3
    Military: 3
    Economy: 5
    Intrigue: 3
    Faith: 2

    Actions for Round 11
    1. [Military] Attack R53 [Derokar] with 4 units lead by Sofrid! (Mil 7)
To be joining Mumei (Kuniumi) with Sofrid (Mil 7) as leader
Sedellan Armor gives +2 against Magical Techs

This has gone on far too long. From high treason against the empire to acts of terrorism and slander, the Inkia clan has stepped over the line long ago. Now the capital of the Firethorn Regiment lies in the hands of these barbaric clansmen, and it has become clear that they will not be removed without affirmative action. The Firethorn troops quickly land and occupy region 52, staging an attack from the east while the Kunai close from the west. The ashen lands of Derokar fall under siege for the second time, the ports blockaded by the Burning Embers fleet. It seems that while a portion of their armies are held up in the ashen lands of Derokar, roughly a full unit worth of troops still lies in Varjik - How they will communicate and coordinate the liberation from the siege in Derokar is yet to be seen.. If it is possible at all.
    2. [Military] Defend R53 [Derokar] with 3 units lead by Chieftess Feather (Mil 3)
The final battle of the civil war.. The satsujin are wary for Feather's edict. She applies a -4 to their battle roll due to the occupation.
To be joining Devaltan Troops under their banner

Trapped in the ruins of their capital, Derokar's new city of Defiance is put to the test after the Kunai failed to destroy it in its founding five years ago. It is small still, but prosperous, and when the news of the army retreating from both Kuniumi and R52 reaches their ears the construction of heavy fortification is instantly launched with the wealth of Gold acquired from the picans. As the city fortifies, a cry for aid is sent both north and south to Setjura, Regno, Izbefe, Dvatla, and Ti Linnad, though others are certainly welcome to contribute. The forces of Dvatla come with great ships and men to aid their cause - And more importantly, they arrive with a commander well versed in the art of war. If they can first break the minor blockade and work together with Feather's troops the battle could realistically be won - Poor communication could prove fatal.
    3. [Diplomacy] Stabilize R52 using Empress' Score (Success!)
The Firethorn Regiment retakes region 52 in a short conquest, settling their men through the region as they prepare to encircle Derokar with their Kuniumi allies. With the invaders repelled, guarantees of vengeance and stability are given to the populace to prevent them from getting out of hand. After many years of war, capture, and disorder, they place their trust in Sofrid to return the southwest flank of the empire back to the peaceful and prosperous realm it once was.
    4. [Diplomacy] Attend Event
Chieftess Feather does not make the same grand speeches or entry as she had before, instead conducting deals with her allies and using the excuse of the semi-public gathering to conspire with them in ways the empire cannot track. Delegates at the event are given word that Feather (aged 26) is seeking an alliance through marriage with a foreign power. As Ti Linnad arrives in the area and expresses trade interest, they also end up leaving with more than they bargained for-- Pieces of Sedellan Armor that their men are able to study and reconstruct in their own lands. All they need to replicate it now is the material itself.
Grant the Violet Oath tech to Ti Linnad (For aid last round)
Grant Sedellan Armor Coating to Ti Linnad (For aid this round)
Exchange Violet Oath for Sacrificial Supply Lines with Khirus
    5. [Economy] Buyout R70 [Fresia] TP2 - Gold (Success!)
What metal is more prosperous than gold? Having seen glimpses of this mythical material, Feather extends her limited influence east to try and pull the trade of gold into her lands. The picans may be less 'civilized' than many other options, but they too are against the empire. Hopefully this connection can be used to broker a deal between them, but they end up being more difficult to deal with than she anticipated. Apparently the fish-men are not interested in her coin, and much of the challenge seems to be in translating the language and values. She tries nonetheless.

And in due time, she succeeds. An accord is made to exchange hunted meat for the mineral, which apparently the people are desperate for. They say that this was discovered when a pican attempted to eat one of the elks that the diplomat used to ride with, and so he adapted their needs into a much more advantageous deal for Inkia.

      Non Actions:
Leave R54, returning it to the Kuniumi.

      Rolls

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show
    • The Avakonian Empire's funding of the loyalist party in the Varjik civil war is more than enough to outbid Feather's comparatively minor sum. Simply put, there's no way she can afford him anymore without collecting the bounty on her own life. Four Fingers joins Sofrid's Ranks now that he has returned from his years in captivity, in a more gruff shape than before. He swiftly takes command of the remaining loyalist parties as if they were simply awaiting his return, and plans to crush this tribal uprising before it can get a single step further. (Renaming General 'Four Fingers' to 'Lord Commander Sofrid')
    • After conquering Kuniumi, the military force of Feather lingers for about a year to allow people to get used to seeing them. She doesn't change any laws, nor does she seem to make any real shifts at all, leaving life as it was before but under a different crown with a few extra dead men and some burned woods. Almost arbitrarily, in the midst of their winter on the dawn of the second year, her troops simply leave the region and leave nothing of theirs behind. It seems possible that she has heard of the Shushan's return, but those who have grown to know her better in recent years suspect that it was simply to spite Starbreather from the event where she spoke out against the empire. She leaves an edict to the Kuniumi people and their leaders upon her departure: There will be no more daggers haunting her from the dark. If there are further attempts against her and her people's autonomy, she will not be so gentle. After such a flawless string of victories, her words carry much weight, even if it's possible that they were entirely coincidence.
    • After having had issues for many years with the Isles of Lazar attempting to call their mercenaries deal to a close, Sofrid requests to their leaders that so long as the Regiment is using their troops for the benefit of their liege, that they may respect the deal despite it's shaky origins. Now that they have sworn to Avakonia, they are all on the same side after all. With the civil war going on in addition to this, these mercs are needed more than ever.
    • Following the victories in the previous years, Feather has hosted no shortage of parties and festivities with the wealth of R52. They're grand events, and as finer buildings rise in the ashes of her forests her people remember that their woods may have been sacred, but they are not all that they have. Due to Derokar's cultural value of wealth coupled with such splendor beyond what most of these clansmen have ever seen, Feather is said to be her people's chosen savior. How can she possibly lose with so much spare silver?

Noting with some alarm the Plague in Aniachaket and the unrest in the North, Warden Ferreth realizes that if he's not careful he may go into the history books not only as the man who presided over the uniting of the coalition, but also as the ruler who presided over its disintegration. Very shortly after this realization, he mysteriously comes down with a severe case of dementia. After months of seeming to believe he is still on his Magpie trial in Delphraic and a series of calculatedly poor but not catastrophic decisions, his son, Suvlin Cuahuey, finally gives in and relieves him of rulership. Seeing his son in charge seems to invigorate the old man, and he recovers from his Dementia miraculously quickly, attributing his rejuvenation to the healing powers of Xincoatl. • Pledge vassalage to the Gwitna Coalition, and thus the Avakonian Empire
    • Send 2 Units to the Avakonian Empire

When news reaches the Isles of Lord Ferreth’s ascendancy to the newly manufactured title of Grand Warden of the Badan, their pledge of vassalage to the Empire, and the Theocracy’s oath of vassalage to Gwitna it becomes a popular matter of debate as to whether the Isles should follow suit. Some argue that unless Gwitna demands the Isles submit they should continue to live independent of a liege-lord, especially an ultimate liege in Avakon. Others however are less kneejerk in their reaction seeing the potential for opportunity. The Isles are small and isolated in the northeast being both too far away and too small to worry with occupying. Conversely the Coalition and Empire were sprawling assemblages of provinces and petty kingdoms filled with a great variety of people and ideas. Joining such a patchwork voluntarily would lend the lazarites a certain leeway and freedom within this patchwork imperial expanse that stubborn resistance would be less likely to yield.

Lord Ferreth is contacted by the Arndok herself who offers the Isles and their people to the secular service of the Gwitna Coalition and by proxy the Avakonian Empire. The Arndok pledges to provide whatever her direct liege requests so long as it does not buck the will of Xincoatl it shall be done. The Empress is also reached out to by the Arndok and it seems a pleasant accord has been reached with the heiress of Dejan.

Discussed in Ti Linnad five years ago Black Company mercenaries have been trained, equipped, and are now deployed on a long journey west. However, rather than going to give over their swords to the Kingdom of Dvatla as was discussed in Ti Linnad the mercenaries travel to Avakon to pledge service to the Empress as the Isles greater liege. These mercenaries are expected to serve in whatever capacity the Empress sees fit. When lazarites move to take possession of the copper mines of [Region 65] it seems clear the hypothetical deal discussed in Ti Linnad has in stark light of reality shifted its participating parties.

2 [FAITH] (Faith 10) Declare Isles of Lazar a Coatl Perijanist Holy Land

Though political tensions mount between the Theocracy of Coatl’s new leadership and the wider world the Isles celebrate the grand expansion of Coatl Perijanist worship throughout the northeast and along the eastern coast. The lazarites have not been shy in proclaiming their loyalty and adherence to the fiery religion of Xincoatl and it seems their piety is paying dues. Lazarite zeal and their high tolerance for radicalist worship has lent the Isles a recognition not just in the east but across Emjata as a great bastion for Xincoatl and his worshippers in all their forms. For those who look to find their life’s meaning in serving the flaming serpent a home is ever available upon the Isles and within the ranks of the Burners, regardless of one’s history prior to conversion. Prospect of such a rebirth in fire draws many to the Isles where they find themselves put to work in service of the clergy.

3 [ECONOMY] Buyout Firethorn Regiment TP 3 for Mercenaries in Isles of Lazar (28) Failure

With time up for the Firethorn interlopers to find the payment for their intrusion upon the Isles of Lazar and still no agreement reached with the Regiment’s leadership the foreigners face eviction. It is rumored that the now free Captain Soffrid had indeed contacted the Arndok to offer payment for the mercenaries but it was a small sum, perhaps a strictly fair trade in direct exchange but in no way making up for the initial unwelcome intrusion upon the Isles. A counteroffer of meager increase in demand from the Arndok is rejected much to the surprise of the Kiin Sareteh who understood the mercenaries to be quite important to the Regiment’s already tenuous stability.

With an answer in hand the lazarites move forward with evicting the Regiment. Unfortunately for the Kiin Sareteh it seems the Firethorn's backing by the Avakonian Empire has provided them with significant funding. Not enough to pay back the lazarites but more than enough to entrench the Regiment upon the Isles. Despite being foreigners largely dependent on credit and with a poor history of paying off their debts the Regiment has made a good impression among enough lazarites and mercenaries dissatisfied with the Black Company's mercantile dominance that the Regiment with their support manages to maintain its outspost on the Isles. The Arndok has grown increasingly frustrated with the failure of her cohorts to evict the Regiment and despairs that now with Avakonia coming to represent both parties ultimate liege future eviction efforts will be next to impossible.

4 [ECONOMY] Buyout Avakonian Empire TP 1 for Copper in Region 65 Success

Arranging with the Empire the exchange of men for copper was in many ways easier than arranging with the Dvatlans. There was no hypotheticals, no cloak and dagger. The Empress recognized the loss of Wybrez had lost her Bronze production and she had turned the copper mines over readily for the promise of mercenary troops. With King Khasglis dead it seems there is further disincentive to involve the Company in the western kingdom’s affairs.

Arriving alongside the Black Company mercenaries lazarite traders move to the Imperial heartland to negotiate taking over local export operations of the copper mines so long run by the Empire. They present contracts bearing the Empress’ seal along with a decently sized offers partially made of imperial bullion to fund the transfer.

5 [FAITH] Convert Region 30 HC 3 from Jalyeong-bo to Coatl Perijanism Success

It seems the long presence of Coatl Perijanist lazarites and Gwitnans trading along the copper rich stretch of Palmor coast and the near universal Jalyeong-bo shamanism practiced by the locals can no longer coexist. Given the recent economic and religious division between Coatl Perijanist lazarites and Amham supported Jalyeong-bo shamans it is perhaps no surprise that a region so economically valuable to the lazarites is now seeing greater attention from the Kiin Sareteh. It begins at the docks as Burners, Magi, and laypriests begin to join the copper traders on their southern journeys to spend their time proselytizing for Xincoatl upon the southern beaches and shipyards to anyone who will listen. Rumors spread among the more suspicious and devout spirit shamanists that Gwitnan sailors are being hired to pose as an audience to draw in additional listeners.

True or not the message being spread of Xincoatl’s might and power seems to take hold in the region and a significant number turn their backs on the old ways, enraptured by the promises of the flame to burn away the rot and begin anew.

Nevertheless, some express concern about supplying both sides of a war with mercenaries while the mercenary captains grow fat on double payments.
    • The children-now-adolescents chosen as potential Arndoks face their first Trial of Xincoatl when they are challenged to retrieve a trophy from the fierce wilderness of Coatl. The child favored by the reigning Arndok did not choose to use her advantage and so the four were turned loose on equal footing into the wilds. For almost two weeks the children remain deep in the jungles of the Theocracy's capital until eventually one returns. Then the next. Then the third, the Arndok's favorite. Two more days pass and then on the third it is determined the fourth child of fire was taken by the jungle. Such is the will of Xincoatl, some are to feed the fire, some are to be tend it. The three trophies returned by the children include an alligator hide, a rare pressed flower known to grow only along the especially swift banks of the Pearl River, and from the Arndok's favored a massive two-foot long fang the girl claims to be from a hydra. All three trophies are placed prominently at the Moot point and the three potential heirs begin to attend the monthly Moots alongside the Arndok and the Kiin Sareteh assemblage.
    • Reports of sick Gwitnan citizens out of Aniachaket has some lazarites worried about the disease spreading from liege to vassal. Those whom harbor independence sympathies begin to preemptively blame the Arndok for the sickness coming to the Isles though as of yet no confirmed cases on the Isles are citable.

Beautiful men and women are hired to aid the philosophers and educators disappear into earthly pleasures for a time. To live in the region will be expensive but learners and thinkers are offered special discounts and deals as well as structures specifically for students of the university giving the wealthy an opportunity to learn under Regnans foreign faith as well as debate the value of the existing religions and philosophies while the next generation of diplomats are educated with the ideals of the Khirese Republic in mind. (Philosophies Bastion 2 of 5)
4:[DIPLOMACY] The Republic of Khirus sends diplomats to (region 61) attempting to establish relations with any existing republican factions. Spreading democratic ideals among the masses while wooing the local leadership. Wanting to establish a means of providing a valid reason to begin to interfere in the nations comings and goings. News and Rumours
    • An emergency act of the senate is to ban the sale of Reaper crab any merchants found in the country with the product will be fined heavily and imprisoned for up to 50 years. Its considered a death sentence in the Republican prisons.
    • Peace with Azenhal and the stunted folk has the population split. Many outside of Khirus, especially in Razzak views this as a boon to trade and peace. Those in Khirus who have lost so much due to their actions are furious with the chancellor. Several factions have used it to stir his removal from political office and bring in a new chancellor.
    • Rishard has disappeared from public view for the last year. His emergence coincides with meeting with Azenhal, and outside sources have claimed his behavior is sporadic.
    • The Pician diplomat purbagle has finally learned imperial and the idea that they can only speak their own language has been completely disproven.
    • The chancellor has grown more distant and seems focused on his grand diplomatic project in the Basins, it appears the genius has surrendered much in his bid to rule the south. The army is growing slowly as it rots under his eyes and Rishard his top military man seems obsessed with a war that never came.
    • Despite the state of the army and peace with Azenhal Yuval has scored multiple victories for the nation. His diplomatic victories with the empire has been highly praised and his acquisition of Suicide Sandor has many whispering that for his remaining years he might serve as a worthy replacement for the chancellor.
    • The alliance with the Picians remains but it grows strained as obviously negotiations with other forces forces some distance with the endlessly destructive force of nature.
    • Regno ties seem to have only strengthened and the diplomat Selenity now there speaks highly of her treatment.
    • Representative Mila has apperently gotten into multiple spats defending the name of one Suicide Sandor, many are concerned she will do something rash as the girl has always been a notorious trouble maker... Its even had her elected in her district within the capital. As country folk would never put up with such nonsense.
    • Suicide Sandor is being held in a prison in the capital a date for his execution has not been set.

Spoiler: The end of Suicide Sandor?
    Show

The treatment of Sandor was not a kind thing. The insidious being known as Yuval Harari wanted to force this famed pirate to take on his namesake and end his existence. “I will have you so desperate to die you will swallow your own tongue long before your trial.” He whispered in a rather intimate moment of pain for the pirate. Yuvals thin blade riding up under the arm and his lips moved close to lap up the screams. It would be days and days of this endless suffering but inevitably the ship made landfall and the carriage ride did not give the ancient necromancer as much time to make his handsome victim suffer.

Making it to Khirus Sandor was placed in the care of the Republican guards who were slightly less abusive and were at least human or would appear so to the famed trickster. His body would strike the stone wall of some damnable oubliette where bruised and bloody he was granted no solace but for crusted bread and cold soup. His smooth talking was less so when ones face is swollen but he did manage to get one of the doctor to admit that his trial was a week from today... He would sit within the dark until that time.

This squalid fate was not meant to be, Sandors first move against Khirus had granted him some rather outrageous fans and on his second day with over 40 hours in the black and only two meals under his belt as he slowly bled out he was granted a visitor.

“Sandor... What have they done to you?” Standing before him was a pale creature, beautiful to behold in a low cut dress and “come take me” eyes. The grin on her face was one of scintillating delight. She stepped in deeper and the guards moved to stop her asking her not to go closer for her own safety and with a flash of speed the sound of snapping bones would echo through Sandors tiny cell and the guard dropped as she rolled her shoulder ecstasy dripping from her.

She mounted him on either side and slid her tongue from her lips lapping up the vitae of her favorite. “I am Mila.” She whispered against his ear. “I have a proposal for you... Swear your love and loyalty to me and ill make the pain go away, ill make you special beyond imagine. Your antics could dazzle through eternity. Or you could stay what you are, and face the tribunal mortal man and take your chances, so what do you say?”

When he made the right choice, he would only remember the indescribable pain of the fangs ripping into his throat and then the endless maelstrom, the wild writhing pleasure of her blood hitting his lips and him drinking from her like a babe on mothers milk... When he did awake she would be gone and his cell would be open the guards clothes off and ready for him. On top of these clothes and weapons sat his visor and a letter.

    It read simply

Your life belongs to me... Go have fun my Suicide Sandor

    Love
    your sire Mila

    Spoiler: Masquerada Internal Memos (SECRET)
    Show

-The chancellor has become more despondent obsessed with a legacy despite immortality. He has also formed alliances with the dwarves, there is no greater sin and Rishard has abandoned his alliance with his faction.
-Suicide Sandor escaped the Khirese oubliette located in the heart of the capital known as “Republics Justice”. Many eyes turn to Mila the childer of the chancellor. There is no official
    - Work on the chancellors masterpiece has slowed down since the negotiations with Azenhal came under way Yuval Harari has been placed in charge, but theres rumors Kathine is beginning to run more and more behind the scenes. She has begun to build up her base within the faction and is challenging her much older counter parts within the consul.
-Merchant King Tyras has made a huge move allying with Kathine under the promise of continued peace and trade with Azenhal as well as the promise of a port city being built and supported for trade in Razzak. This has both the chancellor concerned about his own progeny and the other factions looking on wondering if they have someone new challenging them.
    Foreign Elysium activity
-Ambassador Selenity gladly accepts the arrival of her Regnan guests within the home that contained the remains of her household and political aids. Though not yet an official embassy she had established some understanding of the local culture but when they moved on to business she wore the mask of Khirus baring her blue proudly. They explained their desire to experiance the kiss of Khirus and that someone well respected had been chosen. Since the feeding of Regnan citizens had been strictly forbidden none were present but at the end of the year a messenger in deepest secret was sent to the capital and the chosen one was told to come to the Sultanate immediately. She does well to demand secrecy of this be kept paramount.
-Ambassador Selenity also makes demands of the nation, they had promised to keep the secrets of Khirus safe. Obsidian fire was a rare thing and it has now been placed in the hands of a pirate. This will mean the technology could quickly be proliferated and in their secret talks she was quoted as saying. "While Khirus respects that Regno views knowledge as something divine, we need to know our gifts be kept in the safest of temples. Especially now that we are granting you knowledge of the kiss of the immortals." There was also something about how such things could easily be forgotten if in the future camel riders came into Khirese possession. This was said in the most polite tone possible of course.... It appears Selenity has picked up on our mercenary nature well.

Aaenna has long been a relatively lush region encompassed by thick vegetation fed by runoff from the rainy jungles of southern Razzak to its west and the river valley of Palendor to its north. Settlements along the eastern coast and along the coast of the great interior lake known as the Mamulk are the largest in the region although smaller villages and even decent sized towns have carved existence within the interior along the few roads crisscrossing the region. The forests are thick and known to house many fantastic beasts, including among them the Bhreshi dogs for which the nation is famous. The Mamulk, sitting central to Palmor’s southernmost regions, has long played a valuable role in trade and cultural exchange. The disruptions to trade along the lakeside communities in the wake of the first Palmor Wars is believed by some historians to have played a major role in riling discontent and fermenting the Sattyathanya uprising.

Bhreshi Dogs - Large beasts with long slick fur excellent at shedding water in the rainy land of Aaenna Bhreshi Dogs are roughly the size of small horses and capable of much the same. Though their spines are not strong enough to support heavy weight such as a heavily armored rider or great loads of supplies the Bhreshi are usable as mounts by humanoids so long as weight is kept relatively light. Bhreshi Dogs are predators and have sharp teeth more than capable of rending flesh from the bone. In addition they are capable of greater bursts of speed than more conventional mounts although they are less capable of enduring a sustained fast pace. Their fur varies in coloration from browns to blacks to greys in solids and mixed patterns.

Bhreshi dogs have been domesticated for generations and are part of most local’s daily life. Known for their intelligence and loyalty a family’s Bhreshi Dog is often valued as much or more than other members of the family. Used to help plow land, hunt, and most recently fight war the Bhreshi are as much a symbol of the region as they are a product of it. Many breeders exist in the region and with foreign interest heightened in the region they have grown even more confident the utility of the Bhreshi Dog will soon become more widely known.

While the Jayeleong bo worshipers are tenacious and the terrain is hostile. [Diplomacy] Cultural Identity Solidarity with Magi (get a die size increase when converting a HC belonging to a larger religion)

    News but also Rumors

    • Thinking he would be rewarded for his diplomatic coup, Teppin was unaware of the outrage bombarded at him for "foolishly" letting go of Kayrs and surrendering to the Empire. The move was so controversial that rumor has it that the triumvirate has dissolved.
    • Lead by several Lazarites, the great temple is stormed by a mob of angry Magi beating and marking any they considered to be "collaborators." Many of protesters breach the throne room of the Exarch himself demanding an end of cooperating with the Empire and a supposed return to docturnal purity.
    • The Oracles of Xincoatl predict a great catastrophe will arrive from the north. The world of man has become too chaotic and some believe this is Xincoatl's way of redressing the balance.
    • The Kayrsite daughter of the Empress extensively toured the theocracy consulting with philosophers aristocrats and commoners on each leg of her journey. While she mainly stuck to the more Avakonia friendly coast, she briefly met Teppin outside of the Grand Temple of Uxmal.
    • Among the priest Magi, there are 3 factions that compete for dominance. The old guard, formerly lead by Tennoch, are theologically lax and open to syncretism, yet are fiercely anti imperial. Many of the Old guard have allies in Azenhal and Ti Linnad along with making up a significant section of the army. Old guard members prefer to conduct sacrifices via bloodletting due to their belief that it controls the process.
    • The second faction, derisively called the Hatchlings consists primarily of younger Magi, Lazarite immigrants, and pilgrims to Coatl from various lands. Hatchlings advocate a very conservative theological stance, some to the extremes of monotheism. This faction prefers to sacrifice using fire, due to its raw untamed power, even if madness is a possible side affect.
    • The Third faction, known as the collaborators, represent the current monarch, a group of influential merchants, khirise envoy's, Gwitnan nationals and older magi who have run afoul of the old guard. Many within this faction are very open to dealing with the Empire along with increasing the theocracy's diplomatic clout. While not as militaristic as the old guard, Collaborators believe its Xincoatl's will to take the east coast.

    Round 11
    [Desert of Magic]

    Regno (8), Iadesh (7), Jherki (9), Deaux (56)

    [Grand Magus Viclean]

    Actions:
    1. [Diplomacy] Heir Tutum Sortis himself heads out to meet with the Omanush Convoys, and gifts them the secrets to Expanded Holds. He promises to discuss with Izbefe on the Convoys behalf about obtaining the needed Ships. [Year 133]
    2. [Diplomacy] Speaker Pertento, the lead explorer, returns with excellent news! There are those directly to Regno's north whom are interested in learning more about Initia and becoming a part of the combined nation that is Regno, Iadesh, Jherki, and Deaux. Grand Magus Viclean sends the explorer back to them to act as a diplomat, and begin the negotiations. Reports from the north are slow to be received, and even mental communication is strained. Apparently, there is some rather strong alcohol that Speaker Pertento is obligated to drink during his talks, which is delaying an otherwise smooth discussion.
(Press Claim, Region 92, Roll: 14) [Partial Success 1/2] [Year 133]
    3. [Faith] To better support the guilds, Initia members build new schools in Cataracta, to help teach people to read and write.
(Claim Religious Center #1, Region 7, Roll: 17) [Year 133]
    4. [Faith] Very happy to have found a group of people to the north that support the Principles of Initia, Regno is also surprised to find that there are some whom dislike Magic. Speakers are quick to discuss the matter further with these Dejanite Cultists, finding that logic and reasoning wins in the end.
(Claim Religious Center #2, Region 92, Roll: 14) [Year 134]
    5. [Diplomacy] (Diplomacy 10, Special Action, Create a Great Kingdom: Regno Sultanate) [Year 135]
Grand Magus Viclean feels it is time. Regno - the Desert of Magic - has grown, and he has done well for his people. Yet, he is over 90 years old now, and would like to enjoy the last third of his life (assuming he lives a normal Oamenii lifespan) in research and contemplation. He assumes the title 'Soc Viclean' (or Respected Elder), and in a grand ceremony, anoints Tutum Sortis not only as the next Grand Magus, but the first Sultan of the Regno Sultanate. Iadeshians approve of their former ruler's son being in charge, Deaux adores Spera Sortis and her family by association, and Jherki is promised additional Legionnaires to train. Regno itself is celebrating their new Grand Magus, and no other member of the Five Families steps forward to try and claim the Staff of the Sun from Sultan Tutum. While there may be challenges ahead of him, it would seem - internally - as though there is a rather smooth transition to Tutum's leadership.

    Non-Actions:
    • Offer the Omanush Convoys the support of the Five Cities in purchasing Bani from the Dacia of Regno (Support Buyout of Trade Post #2, Region 8, if Omanush Convoys want Bani)
      [THIRD ACTIONED BUYOUT]
    • Encourage King Balder Gammet of Izbefe to offer the Omaush Convoys support for buying out Ships, if he feels like it
    • Send letters to the more established nations in the north, Bhule and Overvann. The letters are similar in tone; friendly and open, yet curious.

Spoiler: Private Letter to the Overvann Clansmen
      Show
      To High Warlord Olaf One-Eye,

It is with great curiosity and caution that we write to you today. To find another well established group of people in the sub-continent of Regner is a great thing, and we hope to be able to reach a deeper understanding of the world of Emjata together! If possible, perhaps even become friends and allies.

While we do not have reason to fear the Clans at this time, that does not mean that we do not have a healthy respect for your people's might. Our recent expedition into the northwest has caused many in the greater world at large to become aware of several regions of Regner, and the Overvann is among those that have garnered the most attention; whether this is good or bad has yet to be determined. Regno, at least, is very hopeful that we might begin with honest and open lines of communication. And, if you would care to know more about the world as it is today, we are pleased to be of help. Should you, as High Warlord, choose to allow it, we have two options that might facilitate this:

      - Bratus Academy is highly renowned for its wide variety of lessons and abilities to teach; including warriors and various Emjata languages. We would be honored to host any student(s) that Overvann would care to sponsor.

      - Alternatively or in addition to the above, we would be interested in sending to you, High Warlod, a Speaker from the Three Towers of Regno, as someone whom can act as an adviser, or just learn more about your people.

Which brings me to a less pleasing line of inquiry. To Regno's immediate north, we have found a group of people whom not only share some of our ideals, but are willing students to our ways of life. We feel protective of these people, and are seeking to welcome them into our fold. Yet, we have recently heard that a portion of their much coveted Beer has been raided by what appears to have been Overvann clansmen. If this is true, Regno would like to know if you intend for these raids to continue? Or is there some way we might reach a more profitable arrangement? We - I - look forward to hearing from you.

      With Respect,
      Sultan Tutum Sortis the First
      Grand Magus of Initia

To Consul Yald Danerdhuf and the other factions of Bhule,

It is with great curiosity that we write to you today. To find another well established group of people in the sub-continent of Regner is a great thing, and we hope to be able to reach a deeper understanding of the world of Emjata together! If possible, perhaps even become friends, like we have with our neighbors in Amham.

We feel compelled to inform you that Regno has shared its expedition findings with the greater world at large. Of the nations we encountered, Bhule is among those that have garnered the most attention. With this in mind, and in the interest of establishing a greater friendship, should Bhule want to learn more about the rest of the current world at large, Regno would like to offer two options available for the Consul to choose from:

      - Bratus Academy is highly renowned for its wide variety of lessons and abilities to teach. We would be honored to host any student(s) that the Consul would care to sponsor.

      - Alternatively or in addition to the above, we would be interested in sending the Consulate a Speaker from the Three Towers of Regno, as someone whom can act as an advisor, or just learn more about Bhule and it's people.

We hope that one or both of these options will be pleasing to the Consul and the other leaders of Bhule, and Regno looks forward to establishing a peaceful relationship between our two nations.

      With Respect,
Sultan Tutum Sortis the First, Grand Magus of Initia

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show

    • The discoveries made to Regno's north are talked about for years. Many people debate over the priorities that Regno should focus on, but Grand Magus Viclean is oddly silent on the matter. When he announces his intentions to allow the Heir to become Sultan, the reasons for his silence become much more clear.
    • The guilds are sweeping through the regions, and it is still a popular topic of discussion and prestige. Even if a person is not necessarily of a good family, being part of a good guild can increase their standing and make them more desirable for matrons looking to marry their children.
    • Viclean begins to feel it is nearly time. Though he is only a little over 90 years old - and likely has a good fifty years or so left - he wants to enjoy his last half century in study and meditation, aiding the younger generations in learning more about the principles of Initia. Though no formal announcement has been made, he and Heir Tutum are seen together much more frequently.
    • Spera Sortis (along with her pet Sandboar Porcus) visits Deaux, ostensibly to assist as an Aspectus... but also to study the wild life in the area, and participate in the hunts. She makes many friends there, and the current Lord Jumeau sees her as a delight and treats her as though she were his niece. She, in turn, begins to call him 'Uncle Jumeau'. Spera reportedly takes an interest in Clacky Sticks and Hlaali Wolves.
    • Speaker Schimba begins to understand more about Honmyo, and is making (for her) some logical conclusions between the True Name and Initia. Out of respect for her hosts, she does not speak of these, but writes about them in private, sending reports of various Rune possibilities back to Regno. She continues to lead discussions about Initia for those of the Clans whom are interested.
    • Ambassador Riola Greybeak maps are entered into the Bratus Academy as personal treasures for the Desert of Magic, and she is thanked profusely. Captain Disca is thrilled that the Ambassador is going to have more down time, when he overhears a conversation between members of the Academy wondering if Riola would be willing to fly around the new North region. The Captain puts his foot down, and insists that it is not yet safe for that to happen. Still, it seems he'll continue to follow the Ambassador where ever she chooses to go.
    • The success of the Dawntalon family is rumored - at least in Regno - to be due to Trowpic Dawntalon (formerly Trowpic Sortis) and Magi Sortiment Dawntalon (also formerly of a well respected Regnan family). It is, with some surprise, then, that Magi Sortiment's eldest daughter ends up traveling back to Regno briefly and marrying a young man from the Liber family. Apparently, this was an arrangement encouraged by an aging Pingo Liber, who had taken a liking to the boy and now both youngsters have returned to the Inyoni Crescent, happily looking on expanding the family even more.
    • Heir Tutum discovers that former captain Amerah Kren of the Firethorn Regiment was apparently slain by an unknown Disease. He begins to establish a group of Water Magi as researchers in fighting ailments of the body. This group only becomes more well funded when rumors about a strange illness in Gwitnan lands start to trickle back to Regno.
    • Magi Arunca is apparently enjoying sparring with the Abhidic Warrior Monks in Dvalta, having reported that not only has he finally find a physical challenge against many of them, he also finds their mental fortitude quite resolution. Supposedly, he and the Monks can be found trading both blows and verbal debates on a near daily - if not simultaneous - basis.
    • Comoara of Family Casnic and her two kids from Emissary of the Clans attracts some attention, as both Shinbi and Shinrai have Enku marks upon their brows. The young girl and boy are precocious little things, and prone to running around alone if they aren't watched carefully, but so far they are attentive and smart... and just a little bit mischievous.
    • Heir Tutum supposedly begins planning for drafting a new Legion for the seas, with ships from Deaux being a major part of that endeavor. This is pleasing to the people of Jherki, whom look forward to a stronger defensive force.
    • Magi Urias and his two Aspectus guards continue to request assistance from the Three Towers for more support to expand the followers of Initia in Khirus. While no immediate support is forthcoming, they are hopeful that the new Sultan will make some headway in the next few years.
    • The discovery that there were some impostor students Glen Gwitna whom forged documentation in order to obtain a copy of the teachings for Obsidian Fire has made those within Bratus Academy quite unhappy. They demand proper compensation, and supposedly, the year after theft, the shipment of sapphires that arrives to Lord Ferreth is a fraction smaller than expected. Though there is, apparently, a small bit of papyrus with writing on it included in the shipment, explaining the deduction of the sum of [2] Students worth of one year's tuition. The next year's shipment resumes the full amount.
    • Though it took some time to secure permission from Izbefe, the road construction crew moves through the southern areas of Iadesh and towards the merchant city of Cona. The farmlands of Southern Iadesh make for an interesting delay, as the otherwise straight roads have to wind and wander to avoid established homes and growing fields of crops. By the year 134, moving from Cona to Cataracta is much easier, however. The Liber family, now a major part of the Construction Guild, continues to work on roads between the Five Cities of Regno. Sortis and Petram are connected by the end of the year 134, and by the time Heir Tutum becomes Sultan Tutum Sortis the First, Sortis and Newbess are nearly connected as well.
    • Arata Doceo, Guildleader for the Guild of Education, submits a formal application to the Three Towers to volunteer for the rumored Kiss of Khirus. Though many other scholars are curious about the voracity of such a thing, and several other applicants are put forth, Guildleader Doceo has both the steadfast inquisitive mind and the political clout to satisfy the Three Towers and Grand Magus Viclean. Arrangements for suggesting the ritual (for lack of a better term) to the Khirus Ambassador are soon underway.
    • Grand Guildmaster Dantura is finally getting her feet under her and standing firm on issues. She negotiates a hard-line between the Legionnaire Colonels and the Hunters Guild, establishing that Legionnaires are the primary Peacekeeping force, but when called upon, the Hunters Guild is a deputy force and easily called upon militia in times of need. Hunters Guild members must continually pass a weapons proficiency test, held annually, to remain members in good standing.
    • The classes to learn Pician from the beaver translator named Ornme Renolen are filled quite quickly, to the point that the translator is assigned several teaching assistants. At first, these are just random people, there to aid in the work load, but after the first class complete, 'Instructor' Renolen is given his pick of whomever he wishes to have remain as assistants. The number of volunteers is rumored to be quite staggering.
    • Ixtilli, from Coatl, is treated as a special guest during the time of exploring the north and after the return. Members of the Three Towers attempt to encourage the well known magi to teach in Bratus Academy, either about Coatl Perijanism, plants, or both.
    • After his coronation in late 135, during the months that the power is being slowly transitioned over to him, Sultan Tutum writes letters to both of the northern nations that seem to have a strongly established government. He receives replies back, and soon visitors from Bhule are in the Bratus Academy, while Speaker Jefuitor moves towards the cold lands of the Overvann to be available for the High Warlord there.

    Default Re: [EMPIRE4!] IC Thread

    Regions 18, 19, 20 & 21
    Ti Linnad
    Leader: Premier Jannellai Norraissa

    Actions:

    1. [Economy 5] Increase number of Trade Posts for Violet Ash in Derokar [Region 53]
As his soldiers reach Derokar, Semilli Corrennellia realizes the abundance of Violet Ash and hears of its intriguing properties. He sends a messenger north to Wybrèz, who explains the rich opportunity to a group of goblin merchants. A fleet headed by the clever goblin Jinkat results in a large investment in Derokar and great quantities of ash shipped back to Ti Linnad. When the Council learns of this, they take a great interest in it and the potential usefulness of the Violet Oath, and soon after Jinkat's investment pays him well.

    2. [Diplomacy] Event
While the war and Dagi Sirionne's untimely passing unfortunately preclude the presence of any of the higher-ranking Linnadi diplomats, a group is sent to the conference in Palmor. While there, they conclude the earlier negotiations with Chieftess Feather, returning not only with the process of the Violet Oath (which is implemented as quickly as possible, given the evacuation), but also with examples of Sedellan Glass-coated armor similar to that used by the Firethorn Regiment. For the time being, the armor is studied in the hopes of finding a vulnerability that can be exploited, but perhaps in the future it may be put into use in the Linnadi forces.

    Spoiler: Subactions
    Show
    1. Recieve Violet Oath and Sedellan Armor Coating from Inkia (Firethorn)

    3. [Diplomacy] Raise Reputation with the Crescent Company: 13
In 135, the Council makes a bold move. A formal apology is issued to Obroslo and the Crescent Company for the invasion, which was based on a misunderstanding of the king's motives and relation to Jurus. Rich gifts of dyed fabric, silver jewelry, raw tin, and weaponry accompany the message. The decision to try to repair relations with the tenacious kingdom is extremely controversial, with some seeing it as a political move to safeguard the Highlands, some seeing it as a cowardly abandonment of the fight against corruption and the Empire, and some believing that there is a greater plan in play than merely peace. The Council states that repairing relations with Obroslo is necessary for many reasons, and that attempting to fix one's mistakes is a virtue. Even so, the political concession in play is worrying, and while (after the fact) many in Obroslo seem ready to accept, the king refuses the gifts and kicks out the delegation.

    4. [Military] Invade [Region 17] with 4 units under Sennu Moku (4 units, Mil 8, +2 techs, -1 size losses roll, total +14)
The war against Avakonia continues. Despite the treachery or cowardice of other nations, the Linnadi fight on. Lzarite mercenaries, Coatlean soldiers, and the survivors of the previous campaign continue the fight to push the Empire from the peninsula and take the northern coast of the strait. Messengers are sent out warning the Imperial defenders that the Linnadi will not be turned aside from their goal, even as refreshed Linnadi forces continue through the newly-taken [Region 16] to assail the Empire once again. With overland supply lines in place, the tide of battle ought to swing towards the Linnadi.

    5. [Military] Raise a unit
Recruitment efforts are begun in Arfordir, mustering the locals to march against Avakonia. One Kleis Martell commands the 2nd Forest Company, composed of 2000 skilled Illoan and Jallish spearmen who wear purple-dyed tunics over their armor. They are joined by a detachment of Lazarite mercenaries, who prove themselves every bit as skilled as their comrades.

    Nonactions:

    Spoiler: News and Rumors
    Show
    • The news of the Lazarite vassalization is as poorly received as that of the Gwitna. While the government of the Isles seems content to remain out of the war, many worry that, with the Theocracy of Coatl and Glen Gwitna likewise vassalized, the mercenaries may be forced to cut off Linnadi contracts. The Lazarite's word that their brotherhood in faith trumps the secular alliance is reassuring, although some remain suspicious.
      .
    • The unidentified plague in Glen Gwitna and the Magi unrest in Coatl are taken as signs of Xincoatl's displeasure with the renegade nations. While a few Linnadi priests do travel to aid the sick or join the anti-Teppin movements in Coatl, by and large these actions are discouraged by the Council. Talk spreads of placing a guard on the border with [Region 25], to stop any who approach Linnadi lands and hopefully stop the entrance of the plague to Ti Linnad. The news that Khirus has completely banned importing the crabs believed responsible sparks further fears, although so few find their way to Ti Linnad that the actual effects are slight. Some local leaders, especially in Arfordir, attempt to block sales, mostly through high local tariffs.
      .
    • In 133, Dagi Sirionne, the well-known diplomat and Council member, passes away in her sleep. Three days of mourning are observed in Cytolla, and a messenger is dispatched to Keat Whitefeather to inform him of his friend's passing. Her statue is privately commissioned, and she is succeeded on the Council by her daughter Linnei Dagionne.
      .
    • Sennu Moku begins training three promising tacticians as his students: his son Innarro Mokarru; Braen Auley, an Illoan soldier; and Marika Asina, a Cynlud captain. He feels himself following in the footsteps of the rest of the old Council, and determines to begin preparing his successors with what time he has left.
      .
    • A dispute breaks out within the Aizkolaria; the High Aizkolaria and most of the clan support sending warriors to fight against Avakonia, but several influential members of the tribe claim that, with the warriors gone, no one will be left to pass on their fighting styles and tactics. The argument continues until the High Tasuna is forced to step in, and even then cannot find a satisfactory resolution. In the end, he rules that no Aizkolaria soldiers will be sent until they can train students, and that he will make a final ruling in five years, hoping that both sides will reach their own agreement in that time. The deficit in Uran soldiery is unfortunately timed, as Ti Linnad faces war from two fronts.
      .
    • The duplicitous Empire has put their skills in deception and trickery to good use. As Sennu Moku musters the army, news arrives that Imperial ships have been sighted in the Uhraiya. With little time to spare, the 3rd Cloud Company, veteran soldiers and survivors, are pulled off of the main assault force and take up defensive positions above the cliffs. Until the Avakonian forces attempt landfall, the infantry harass the closer ships with arrows and dropped boulders, while the Wingknights and Skyfarers attack those further from the coast. The Premier plans to use the inhospitable, sheer cliffs to funnel the foe into chokepoints if they attempt to land, where their lack of discipline can be exacerbated. Meanwhile, the remainder of the Council begins evacuation efforts, in the unlikely event that the defenders fail. However, as the last preparations for the defense are complete, the Imperial ships disappear. Messengers bring the news that Dvatlan forces are counterattacking against the Empire, and that they have successfully drawn off the Avakonian attack.
      .
    • With many new members appearing in the Council, a split has begun to appear. Some, including Akotro Noross and Regor Pyrahasso, strongly believe in the duty of the Linnadi to purge the Empire of corruption with fire. Others, including the newly-appointed Linnei Dagionne and Vencel Karamaki, believe that a more political approach must be taken, and that with the betrayal of the other Coatlean powers the remaining allies have little chance of destroying the Empire now. The Premier has a difficult job of keeping the peace during tactical meetings, as the debate between a plan of all-out attack through the strait and south of Avakon versus forcing political concessions becomes heated. Sennu Moku is often seen standing at the window of the Council building in Cytolla during these meetings, rather than seated at his place at the table.
      .
    • The explorers dispatched to Wasipacha have not been heard from for three or four years now, and the fate of their expedition is unknown. Most deem it unlikely that they will return, but enough hold out hope for their survival that a second expedition is sent to Estensule, tagging along on one of Jinkat's ships, in the hopes of finding Cyllui and Liassa.
      .
    • News of newly-contacted lands north of Anham and in the heart of Estensule are met with interest, though the Avakonian war seems to have dulled the enthusiasm that accompanied it. Especially given the disappearance of Cyllui and Liassa, no one has the resources or the desire to contact these lesser-known territories for now.
      .
    • An Illoan merchant named Altok Farlund proposes a theory on the unicorn sightings: there is actually only one unicorn, which has the ability to instantly transport itself from place to place. He speculates that it is a prankster of sorts, perhaps a servant or manifestation of Selji, a minor Perijanist deity known for jokes and pranks. In 134, a unicorn sighting is reported from Wybrèz for the first time since the region was taken from Avakonia, and they continue afterwards, following the same pattern in Wybrèz as in the rest of Inyaka.
