Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
I don't think they're intelligent enough to be chaotic. Not that the parasights are considered "neutral" despite being controlled by the Evil paraminds. Now, if these guys were, like lemures or retrievers, composed of tangible, physical essence of the alignment (read: they had the [Chaos] subtype), then they'd be Chaotic, but they're just ordinary living beings that happen to be detrimental to the Plane of Flesh.
Speaking of cancerebrums, I really like that this is one of the most alien-looking planes in the multiverse but also quite possibly one of the safest places in the multiverse. Think about it: After a nasty, troublesome fight, you need only track down the nearest mitochondria or benign cancerebrum to get fully restored. Granted, that may be a little tricky if you're in an area swarming with horrible monsters that have killed all the mitochondria (or, worse, inside a Morticorpi), but in most peaceful or relatively calm areas you can get free, rapid healing.
On a completely unrelated note, Zeta Kai, how close do you need to be before the strange effects of the Cystemic Anomalies affect you?

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
Simply beautiful in the sense that the human body is beautiful at microscopic range. So, no. But I love the concept. I have copied it all down and it will be fun to through a few of those new elementals at my PC's who somehow love memorizing every monstermanual and creature supplement that comes out.
This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I frequent homebrew for. Thanks and I've seen your work before and am never dissapointed.Last edited by Eswyther; 2007-09-02 at 01:18 PM.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
To Mewtarthio: I thought I had said so earlier, but I suppose I did not. You have to be 1d4 × 5' away from a Cystemic Anomaly to feel its effects. I will edit that post to include this little tidbit.
To Eswyther: Thank you so much for the kind words. Praise like that keeps me off the street & off of drugs. Well, not really, but it's nice, to be sure.
To Katasi: Huh?Last edited by Zeta Kai; 2007-09-04 at 09:40 PM.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
This is fabulous! I already have an awesome campaign idea for the plane: the plane of flesh is actually the BBEG! The PCs are shrunk, and hav to escape his body or die, and afterwards, they have to fight him! The cool thing is, the PCs could make the later fight easier by giving him diseases like devil chills, rom the inside!
Simply put: great work! (but that hardly does this masterpeice justice)

I haven't read anywhere near all of this yet, but what I have read is pure excellence. This is great.

But, no matter how it changes, everything unaffected by diseases and the like remain working together in perfect harmony, kept at a constant equilibrium. A chaotic realm is in flux, yes, but it generally tends towards places that are working out of balance.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh! (another megapost)
There are 9 hells...
Great plane! I've first read it when I hadn't joined yet.
If and when I create an opposing plane, I'll post a link to it.
P.S. This isn't thread necromancy, right?
Edit2: It is?!? RAISE THREAD!
P.P.S. For some reason, my P.S. made me think of a zombie plane of flesh...
Edit: Link!

BTW, a PDF of this is coming within the next couple of weeks. Now that I know how to make PDF's of my work, I plan to do this for all my large projects. Stay tuned, & thanks for the kind words!

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
Back in the 4e announcement days, when people where complaining about Fire Elementals not being immune to fire, I quipped, 'Well why should they be? I'm a meat elemental, and I'm not immune to being bludgeoned to death by porterhouse steak.'
And now someone's gone and made an elemental plane of meat. Cool. :)
It vaguely reminds me of a critter from Dragon #47, IIRC, the 'sea of flesh.' (Can't remember the original name. Aruchai?) Love the idea of a sentient living creature being it's own plane of existence, and inhabited by many crawling things that live on it's body. The notion of parts of it spawning off sounds coolly reminiscent of Shub-Niggurath and / or the Founders, from Deep Space 9, depending on which way you squint at it.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
Elemental Plane of Flesh? That's the title of an adult film if I ever saw one. Not that I ever saw one. I mean, I don't watch those movies.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
At first glance, I misread this as "The Elemental Plane of Fish."
Either way, nice work.

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
No matter how disturbing is this idea, it's quite an interesting and refreshing thing. Can't be glanulords, paraminds and/or some flesh-plane-touched PCs at all? Even after some, say, adjustments?

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
I've read this before, but I think it's time I commend you on your excellent work. For years now I've had in mind a third Material Plane, with the first being the campaign standard, the second being virtually identical, but powered by negative energy, and the third being some sort of weird hellish abomination, where the entire plane is a single living organism rather than the gabillions seen elsewhere.
Obviously, you've already done the hard part for me. Thank you.Are any of my tables still broken?Visit Beautiful Gatazka Today!Extended Signature

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
Well Zeta, i was reading this since befor I joined, and I must say it is a masterpeice if I ever saw one (although this would be the first). I am going to nick this for my world, add the sentinent trait and make it opposed to the elemental plane of magic (related to the idea of mind over matter and wotnot).
Keep up the good work, I want to see more of this homebrew!

Re: The Elemental Plane of Flesh!
One of the most impressive re-envisionings I have ever seen of a published D&D idea. Neth, the Plane that Lives, was never this cool. :D
Everything I wanted to know about the planes I learned at Dicefreaks.
