    Oh. My.

After all this time, most people weren't expecting her to be back. And with a child, no less.

Now durkon is conflicted. On once hand, it would be his duty to send hilgya away to her husband. on the other hand, it is also his duty to care for the children. So... wut?

And the party doesn't know she had an affair with durkon. Will they even remember her as nale's associate?

I had been kind of wondering when she was going to show up.

I suspected that Loki's vote at the council was a bit of foreshadowing, given her prior involvement.

I want to praise the Giant and this community: Helga hasn't been seen since strip #84 (which came out July 4, 2004!), yet characters like her are not only remembered, but their appearances are catalogued (thanks, Wrecan) and their stat sheets are predicted. Wow!

And even though many people predicted Helga's return, when the Giant does bring her back he still throws us for a loop. It took me a while to figure out Helga was carrying around Durkon's child- that is how unexpected that was! Makes me wonder if the Giant was planning this all along...

On a related note: how much time has passed in the strip between strip #84 and strip # 1105? I'm trying to figure out how old the baby might be, even though I have no idea how long a dwarf pregnancy lasts.

Finally, glad to see that Loki is getting involved in the action. I can understand Thor and other lawful gods sitting on the sidelines, but I expect Loki to bend the rules a bit.

    Fantastic.

My money is on not Durkon's kid, but I don't have a great grasp of the actual timeline (could have been a year since DCF, could have been 4 months; Roy was dead for at least 2 months AFAIR) so I'm not firm on that. Just an intuition.

    EDIT

Wasn't Hilgya an evil cleric before? She used turn undead, not rebuke, so I guess she switched sides.

There was so much tension over Durkon before.
This has pushed that so far beyond what it was that honestly,
I'm probably just going to cry.
Because as much as I want this to end well,
I don't think that's what the Giant has in mind.

Man that entrance. I cant say it enough, well done giant. I would take off my hat, but you blew it away, with my socks and the entire wardrobe. My house has a hole in the roof right now!

Ok now seriously, to theorycrafting, she wants to kill the vamp, the real durkon, both, or doesnt know that there is a difference? Also note that she herself is not evil, as she turned the undead, not the control thing. I was under the impression that you can only choose one or the other if you are neutral on the good/bad axis. Right?

Wow. It has been 13 years since she last appeared after her...ahem...encounter with Durkon in strip #79. That was before the webcomic had longterm plans I believe. Quite a long road.

So she is a cleric whose deity opposed the end of the world, with a grudge against Durkon and vested interest in seeing him alive again. And her level must be at least equal to Durkon's and the Order.

    Go team Cleric!
