Generic d20
Can someone point me in the direction of a generalized d20 system? I have had multiple requests to run a hard sci-fi game in 5e, but the more I look at it, the more I find that 5e really is meant for fantasy settings and doesn't work balance-wise or mechanics-wise if you remove magic.
Currently RPG group playing: Endworld (D&D 5e. A Homebrewed post-apocalyptic supplement.)
My campaign settings: Azura; 10,000 CE | The Frozen Seas | Bloodstones (Paleolithic Horror) | AEGIS - The School for Superhero Children | Iaphela (5e, Elder Scrolls)

Re: Generic d20
I don't think there is one. I mean, there's no such thing as a "generic" class based system, because you still need classes and those immediately de-genericize it in some way.
But you might want to look at Stars Without Number.

Re: Generic d20
Umm... True20, maybe sort of? Been a while since I read it, though.

Re: Generic d20
True20 is the most generic version of d20 available. To the point I think it loses functionality.
The basic classes of d20 modern still have a feel to them, but are also very generic. The equipment, advanced classes, and prestige classes is what changes the feel of that game system.

Re: Generic d20
Aside from d20 Modern (and check out d20 Future, Apocalypse, and Cybertech if you plan on doing SF with that), d20 system rules exist for:
- Star Wars (wotc did two different editions; SWSE was particularly well-received)
- Babylon 5 (by Mongoose)
- Traveller (the so-called T20 rules; very low-powered by modern design standards, but very adaptable to generic SF)
- Stargate (by AEG; uses the Spycraft rules)
You may also want to check out Crafty Games' Spycraft.
Edit: There's also a d20 Star Trek of sorts, in the form of Prime Directive. It's a little too closely tied to ADB's vision of their Star Fleet Universe to be readily portable though.Last edited by Ashtagon; 2017-12-13 at 01:25 PM.

Re: Generic d20
It's not d20, but you might check out D6 Space (in a free Bundle with other d6 titles here). Free, open source, and a pretty robust system.
