I would add that, as far as we know, the base itself has a fairly minimal on-site garrison capable of actually shooting at other parts of the base. Short of marching a stormtrooper squadron up there or breaking off from engaging the fighters inside the shield (this one in particular seems like a bad idea while theyre still active) their ability to swiftly take out the transmitter is somewhat limited unless they want to open the shield for the orbital defenses to start firing on it.

I wonder if that one scene from the trailers that isn't in the movie will be in the comic. (Hopefully this is vague enough to not be a spoiler )

    Spoiler
    Show
Jyn (Bria) vs. the Tie Fighter. That sounds like a very Jim scene, so I've got my hopes up.

I wouldn't be surprised if that scene DID show up, then Jim said "Hey, wait, that doesn't make sense because of XYZ physics reason, it would be better if this other thing happened" and then the DM retcons the scene away. Or, alternatively, Pete says "But I've been keeping track of the scene, this is what would happen instead." Since we've recently seen Pete essentially kill one of the friendly NPCs through convincing the DM that the guy only had grenades, and that the grenades would actually go inside the ship instead of just damage the hull...

Since that's also something that tends to happen in the comic: Jim talking about physics makes the DM change his mind or get new ideas. And Pete talking about the position of stuff and making the DM change his mind.

Or, alternatively, one of the other players manages to convince the DM that the situation is actually worse than he thinks it is, causing the DM to change something.

Looks longer than it is wide to me. Plus its got the armored front bit for smashing into ships.

At this point I would love to tell Keybounce that his guess is right on the money, but I don't know either. The actual plot for Rogue One has had enough holes shot through it to pilot a Star Destroyer through. And not one of those bulk cruisers, the fast Correlian Ships.

Edit: By which I mean that the comic irregulars are sufficiently off script that I can't guess what is going to happen next.

    I'm trying to stay
One strip ahead of the plotline
One comic ahead of the crowd.

Every week they send me three at a time. At the moment, I have no buffer, and I generally take 2 days (three on sunday) to think of a commentary.

    Not peeking is *hard* :=)

And if that was supposed to be an armored longship, we don't see enough armor :-).

Well they didn't armor the whole boat, just the front part. Armor is heavy, and you aren't going to be ramming a ship sideways.

Err... Bria is back in her Rebel outfit. The imperial uniform she had is jet-black with a helmet, airport batons and armor.

I think she unbuckled the unhelpful parts of her imperial uniform once she was in the vault, like Cassian did. At that point, its just getting in the way, and it isn't going to help them at all.

It's actually the result of deep childhood trauma. He saw Buck Rogers as a kid, wanted a blaster, but couldn't get one for his birthday.

Qui-Gon was obsessed with blasters back in Episode I, well before Jim would have started playing Bria.

The plot of the actual, original movie though. The comic's Galen seems like a rather different person... although it seems this one didn't really want a weapon either, so...

Maybe. Does the real movie make more sense than this comic tear-apart / deconstruction?

Yes, it does. This comic arc definitely feels a lot weaker than most, likely due to tonal differences in the source, but it's an enjoyable movie nonetheless. That does, in fact, make sense.
