Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
I don't think so. I haven't ever seen a comic go from irregular updates to regular, on-time, often funny updates.
No, wait, Real Life recently came back from a 4 year hiatus with fairly regular updates. I don't know if he is going to be able to keep it up long term, but it seems to be working. Also The Whiteboard has gone up in update frequency and regularity during its run. Hmmm, maybe we should study their methods.

Oh god, I just had a horrible thought. What if as their filler they do the XMas special or the Ewok movie?

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Oh right there's two of those.
To be fair, I enjoyed D+D the most during the prequel run, because the source material was so terrible, and they made something awesome out of it, that made fun of all the weird stuff going on. With the OT which was a lot better to start, it sometimes felt a bit "off". So taking one of those movies might actually be fun.

Oh Oh OH !
We could do any of the strip 50 bonus strip treatments.
Can you imagine actually doing Wizard of Oz and finding out the min-max?Not "fire at". I never used the word "at"

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
On the strip 50 bonus treatments, how many people noticed that the clause of someone "[gaining]widespread fame after his appearance in the first Futurama movie" is a constant, even when Futurama doesn't exist?

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Yeah, always thought that was funny. Some things never change.
I do think that trying to do any of the strip 50 things might be an issue, though, just because A) it means that there's a very set pace that must be met in order to meet the 50th strip being the right one, and B) the names of the strips'd already be set.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Ive got a baaaad feeling about this.
“Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit, I haven't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all.”

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Looks like we're doing the Ewok movies.
I remember watching them back to back when they came on TV when I was in high school. I seem to recall them being quite good, although that may just be me having really bad taste as a teenager (I enjoyed Batman & Robin in the cinema - enough said).
The main thing I remember about them is that they're basically kiddie fantasy movies set in the Star Wars universe. There was definitely low level magic going on, for instance. Then again, Jedi are basically magic anyway.

I liked them. It'll be interesting to see what the comic does with them.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
At the very least, from what I've heard about them, they should be fun to riff off of. A lot easier to make it prequel-level, at least.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Fun fact I learned checking the Wikipedia page to remind me of what the movies are about:
They both got an Emmy. It was for Outstanding Visual Effects, but hey. They also each got nominated for Outstanding Childrens Program, but lost out to something else.
All in all, I kinda want to sit down and actually rewatch them now. Even though the Admiral Ackbar inside my head is screaming at me.
Other interesting fact: Warwick Davis continued to play Wicket for these movies, at the grand old age of 14. And he only got to play Wicket in the first place because Kenny Baker was ill at the time.
Not half bad for someone who was only supposed to be an extra in a teddy bear suit.Last edited by Rodin; 2019-01-20 at 07:06 PM.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Hey, I loved the first of those movies (only one I've watched). I've probably still got it on VHS (taped off the TV). I remember it being one of my favorites. Of course, I was a kid and it was a long time ago, so there's a good chance that it sucks. But still, good memories...

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
Hmm... maybe not Ewok movies after all?
Or that's the explanation why the heroes are gone since they're not actually part of those movies.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
But if none of the heroes stay on Endor then it means this new campaign might be run by NPC's which would be very different and unsure on how it would work.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
It wouldn't be run by NPCs. It would be the GM saying "this is what I had, so, how does it sound if you take control of these NPCs for this adventure?"

Thankfully Han and Princess are both on their honeymoon, and Han at least is somewhat important to a lot of scenes in That Which Shall Not Be Named.

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
I think they're just poking fun at all the different things they could do. 2-3 weeks pointing us at the ewok movies, then a few weeks teasing the christmas special, then a few weeks suggesting the clone wars series and then Rebels and then maybe the Solo movie and then Ep 9 is out, and they're still sitting on Endor arguing what to do :D

Re: Darths & Droids IV: Not in Numerical Order
In the final musical number we see Muppets and Star Wars characters singing Disney's "When You Wish Upon a Star" - at the time intellectual properties from 3 separate companies but now all under the Disney umbrella. Not "fire at". I never used the word "at"
