Hello, all! Long-time OotS reader (from just after we met everyone's favorite psycho Paladin) and occasional forum-lurk. I decided to finally register since I've been poking around D&D 3.5 recently and this forum seems to be one of the largest still-active communities for it.

I've been into tabletop RPGs since getting started with Mage: The Ascension about 9 years ago, and I've played a pretty good spread of systems since. I've also GMed Mage, D&D 5e, Exalted 2e, Dresden Files RPG, Pathfinder 1e, and Pathfinder 2e. I've gotten pretty well done with D&D 5e (just not enough meaningful character options, and it's all super front-loaded; though there is one concept I'd like to try out sometime), watched PF2e make way too many design mistakes, and found myself mostly looking for PF1e games. Most recently, I got an opportunity to join a D&D 3.5 game and have been really enjoying a lot of the options there as well. The problem is really in finding D&D3.5 and PF1 games. I've had no luck finding a good PF1 game locally (found 2 groups, but neither were good fits; one was all about ultra-optimization, the other was just unfriendly) and no 3.5 games locally, and I haven't had a whole lot more luck online, either. Anyway, I keep an eye on places like the LFG subreddit and FantasyGrounds forums for new opportunities, and I'd love to know if there are better places to find people still playing D&D 3.5 and/or PF1 both online and locally.

Unrelated: I can't seem to get my custom avatar image accepted or figure out why. I've tried several versions to ensure I stay well below the file size limit (I don't see a pixel size limit for avatars specifically, but I've tried as small as 110x110). The error message I get is remarkably unhelpful, just telling me I'm not following a rule but not specifying what. Is there some additional requirement beyond static, <50KB, on a host allowing hotlinking, and a URL starting with https:// and ending with .jpg?
