Spoiler: Eida Brightmoon, Cleric of Selūne
    Show
    Name: Eida Brightmoon
CG Hill Dwarf Acolyte Cleric of Selūne 1

Orphaned as a baby when what was presumably her parents' trade caravan was attacked by Gnolls, Eida was found by Merric Brightmoon, a halfling priest of Selūne from a nearby village. He brought the infant Eida to his son and daughter-in-law, Garth and Nora Brightmoon, who adopted and raised Eida. Growing up happily with the only family she'd ever known Eida followed in her grandfather's footsteps and joined Selūne's priesthood, whilst also helping her mother work the forge and wrangle the 4 younger brothers and sisters that joined the family after her.

After 36 winters Eida, a grown woman by halfling reckoning yet still a child by a dwarf's, set out to travel as a priestess of Selūne. Her first destination after a teary goodbye to her family was to seek out dwarven lands, hoping to learn more of heritage. It was, in a word, a disaster. The free-spirited Eida clashed harshly with the traditionalist culture of the gold dwarves that still viewed her as an ignorant child, almost completely extinguishing any desire Eida may have had to learn more of drawven culture. The only bright spot in the trip was the friendship she struck up with Gardain Glanhig, a priest of Dugmaren Brightmantle. It from him that she learned what little she knows of the traditional dwarven history and skills, and the two exchange correspondence still.

Moving on from dwarven lands, Eida took to wandering in Selūne's name. As she interacted with the wider world and the rest of Selūne's clergy she first encountered Varra Drazlad, fellow cleric of Selūne and lycanthrope. The two became fast friends and took to travelling together, eventually entering a relationship. Recently Eida was called back home to attend her grandfather's funeral and Varra was unfortunately called to Chult. When communication abruptly stopped, Eida resolved to journey there herself and rescue her love. She's heard of a wizardly merchant offering free transport to those lands for any willing to undertake a quest for her...

Personality: Infectiously cheerful, known for her strange ideas.
Ideals: Follows the teachings of Selūne
    Bond: Varra Drazlad
Flaw: Doesn't take orders well. Not at all. (Exceptions made for her goddess, her superiors in the priesthood and her parents. Mostly.)

Put some basic fluff on the sheet. By 'the standard amount' for wealth, do we have to roll, or can we just take the gear described in the class entry? I just ran with class entry + background gear to save searching tables.

Sorry just to confirm. There's an alternate starting gear method where you get starting random gold instead of your class's starting gear. Is that allowed?

My bard is almost set. Just to check in on a few things:

    1. I'm using the anthropologist background. It says to select a culture that was especially influential on the character--would you prefer I pick a culture represented in Chult for potential plot hooking, specifically avoid that, or just do something that makes sense for the character? I guess it's not a mechanical feature, but I just want to have the background nailed down a little better in my head.

    2. Is "Chult" a language, and if so would it be a reasonable one for an educated character to know?

    3. To reiterate arcaneshield's question, we're only doing class/background equipment and not making use of the rolled gold variant? I'm fine either way, just making sure.

    3. correct.

    Clara Whistlewindle, Gnome Cleric, Acolyte

Clara is a recent acolyte of a temple to Chauntea, Goddess of Agriculture. She grew up in a religious family, living her whole life in a temple famous for the brewery it operates. She is used to hard work and spent her childhood working at the brewery with her two brothers, eventually joining the ranks of the Amber Cloister. However recently a dark sickness has been infecting the people of her town - those she swore to most help through divine restoration - and she has done all she can to help her order help those afflicted. One day while working at the Temple her god gave her a vision - of twisted dungeon paths and dark shadows - and so she decided to leave the safety of clerical life to help stop this terrible disease.

2: May I sell items from my class/background equipment for full price?
3: are we using encumberance rules? If so, what?
    4: are we allowed trinkets?
    2. yes
    3. I'm going to be very generous when it comes to encumbrance, you can basiclt carry anything small without issues of weight but individual objects of size and weight will weigh on you.
    4. Yes

We are still open to interest but since I've had a decent amount though I should close it to interest soon just to double down on getting this off the ground and actually rping before I lose all of you.

I'm thinking of two parties on the same mission but different employers. Would this be preferable to one large party?

I like the idea of two smaller parties, personally. Large groups are great since challenges are generally easier, but they also are harder to manage.

Two groups will definitely be easier to keep track of PbP, and the combat won't have to be tailored for a party of 9-10.

I think that works, it sounds like we'll be in the same world and just tackling different subquests/parts of the continent. Maybe once both groups get to the tomb we can combine? (Spoilers, there is a tomb that is very ready to annihilate us) It'll make some parts of the tomb easier and some parts harder I'm sure.

Question on death - is this going to be run where you don't expect us to die early on, or is everything potentially lethal, or undecided? Wondering for player/character turnover. If we lose a lot of people we might need to merge the groups early.

    ----------------

So, if we stick with the 10 applications in, we have a number of duplicates. Splitting them between parties might look like this:

    Party 1 ----- Party 2 ----- Class
    Clara ----- Eida ----- Cleric
    Gurg ----- Aralyn ----- Bard
    Ferris ----- Ngozi ----- Sorcerer
    Ulrich ----- Dugan ----- Rogue
    Geod ----- Rikita ----- Ranger/Druid

That covers one primary healer, one sneak, and one nature character per party. Also recommend Gurg and Rikita in different parties as secondary healers with cure wounds.

Beyond that, we should figure out what characters would be interesting together. I think Geod and Gurg would work well together, meaning Rikita and Aralyn would be in the other party.

Hmm, looks like there's two each of clerics, rogues, sorcerers and bards, then an odd ranger and druid.

Another front liner would probably be useful. Hmm... maybe I could respec Eida as a Paladin if we're doing two groups...

EDIT Doesn't look like Paladin would change much. Guess Eida will just hit things as a Cleric.

If this is still open for submissions, here's Hroan, a half-elf Barbarian eventually going Tomelock.

    https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1421252

    Spoiler: Background
    Show
Hroan was raised in a tightly knit community of green elves and half elves in the Yuirwood. He expected to follow in his mother’s footsteps as the village sage, but a vision as a child set the boy on a different path.

A lion-headed man fought alongside a woman shaped like a bear, wielding the light of the heavens against dark and nameless foes. He fell to his knees in wonder and reached out in obeisance, but their radiance burned his outstretched hand, leaving a deep scar on his left palm. He woke drenched in sweat and babbling in an angelic tongue.

In the years that followed, he sought the identities of his would-be patrons. He excelled in combat as they did, to test his might. He tried living as the animals did, in homage to their forms. He even tried retreating from society, living an ascetic life of contemplation. Nothing worked.

Then, about a year ago, Hroan set out alone, determined to find a noble quest that would prove his worth. And in the night, aboard a ship on the Sea of Fallen Stars, they came. Talisid, the Celestial Lion, and Bharrai, the Great Bear. With them now, Kharash the Stalker, Manath the Horned Duke, Sathia, the Sky Duchess, and Vhara, the Duchess of the Fields.

"A quest, is it, you desire? Go then to Chult, abandoned by its god, drowning in doomed souls. Slay the dead, comfort the living, heal the risen."

Ashore, he asked about this new land, and the answer was ever the same. Chult? Always to the south, and then further south.
