Becoming a god
Heyo!
So, I really like the concept of the Occult Priest class in Secrets of Pact Magic.
The idea is that your character has started their career as a pact magician and adventurer with a single expressed purpose: to become a god. The reason behind this may vary, but ultimately that is the character's goal, and all the abilities of the class reflect that goal.
So far, I have seen only one other character class (seen here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...e-Class-PEACH) ) take this approach. While there are certainly other options for becoming a god, the Occult Priest and the Incarnation are the only two classes whose abilities entirely revolve around that goal.
I want to know two different things: first, do you know of any other base class (official release or homebrew) that sets out for that goal explicitly? Second, if I were to attempt to, say, develop a class like the Occult Priest for another magic system (like Kelus's Truenaming seen here http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...leep-at-night) or Realms of Chaos's Xenotheurgy system seen here http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...s-magic-system ) how should I go about doing so?
For reference, the basic concept of the Occult Priest is that you are a pact-magic user who consults his spirits (basically vestiges) before binding them in order to find the myriad secrets to becoming a god, as many of the spirits either were gods at one point or tried unsuccessfully to become gods themselves. As time passes, the Occult Priest gains the ability to not only cast a limited set of divine spells (drawn from a total of 6 domains that he selects over the course of the class), but can also grant the ability to cast those spells to others. The class is powerful, but risky, as at a certain level you can no longer be resurrected. At 20th level you become an outsider, effectively turning you into the godling you sought to be at the start.

Re: Becoming a god
I humbly submit the Avatar as well, though it's a far cry from pact magic.

Re: Becoming a god
First question:
Track down a copy of either the Immortals boxed set or the "Wrath of the Immortals" boxed set for BECMI. They detail how to become an Immortal (god). They aren't classes, just the sort of trials and tribulations you need to go through to do it, regardless of what class you have. The stuff is almost entirely system-neutral, and the rest is pretty easy to hack. Just be prepared to spend a couple real world years playing through the stuff (unless you rush things). Much better than doing it through a specially built class.

Re: Becoming a god
Yep. There is an Ur-Priest prestige class in the Complete Divine and in the Book of Vile Darkness, and there is an Ur-Priest base class available here: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showt...-The-Ur-Priest
Now that I think about it, that last one DOES have an ability that turns you into a god. Huh.
