The grimlock flanking Cordellia fails to maintain its balance upon Louise's summoned grease, falling flat on its back shortly before being engulfed by the elven wizard's flames. As the blast passes, all that remains of the grimlock is a pile of charred meat. Meanwhile, the raging chieftain weathers Reynauld's blows with little more than cackled laughter, blood mixing with spittle as it spatters on the crusader's breastplate.

"Yes! Good! The pain brings me closer to Erythnul! AIEEEE!"

The grimlock's greataxe slams down on Reynauld's shoulder, crumpling steel and drawing blood.

It was a clash of two zealots, both fanatical in their devotion. From Reynauld's perspective, any pain was worth enduring for the conviction he held in his heart, that he was in the right, that Pelor was greater than the god of slaughter.
"Let me hasten your reunion with the Many!" he shouted as he channeled the earth's strength behind his next axe blow.

Rolling her eyes Cordellia tapped her foot as she mentally manifested the image of the cavern behind her, calculated the distance of her Fiery Burst in a three-dimensional plane, and felt its heat briefly wash over her as the flames ripped themselves into reality barely avoiding her (And hopefully her allies). She still refused to directly look at the Grimlock.

Battered and bloody, the grimlock chieftain is finally engulfed by Cordellia's flames. Uttering a final cry in praise of Erythnul, the deluded monster's grip on life finally slips, and he collapses to the ground. As his uncanny fortitude deserts him, his heart gives out, leaving him dead on the ground before Reynauld. In the cavern above, blocked still by a flaming sphere, the howling of the rank and file continues, the grimlocks ignorant of their leader's fate.

Simone caught her breath for a moment before placing her hands on Reynauld's wounds, smiling gently as they knit closed beneath her hands.

"Life is dark, but Pelor is light. Stars shine brightest in the darkness, my friend."

Louise panted from the exertion and intensity of the fight with the chieftain, then looked to Reynauld, now freshly healed up by Simone.

"I have a curative potion, if you want to top that off?"

Louise will move to AH88 unless Reynauld asks for the CLW potion, in which case she will retrieve it and give it to him, then move there next round. Grease lasts 1 round per level, so her spell should wear off in 2 rounds - around or just before the time the flaming sphere does.

Precious seconds of peace are spent tending to the party's wounds, the dank cave illuminated by Cordellia's flaming sphere. However, all too soon the sorcerous fire gutters out, drowning the passage above in shadow. There is a guttural howl from further in, as a mass of grimlock flesh pours out to punish those who entrapped them.

Then the grimlocks.

Reynauld barely had time to register the pain from the wounds inflicted by the grimlock chieftain, but Simone had healed the worst of them with a potent spell meant only for those who trusted in Pelor's divine radiance above all. At Louise's offer of a healing potion, the crusader waved his hand.
"No need! I'll use the remaining grimlock filth to 'top off' by the grace of Pelor! Ha ha!"

He retrieved his lucerne hammer off the floor, then positioned himself just in range of the bottleneck. He then waited for the onrush of enemies, ready to split their skulls with a merciless iron spike and zeal.

Reynauld will ready an attack, and he'll also likely get multiple AoO's (with combat reflexes) as enemies move past his 10 ft. reach as they exit the bottleneck passage.

For his readied action, he will use crusader's strike if the first one through is injured, otherwise he will go for mountain hammer in an attempt to one-shot an uninjured one.

Simone's eyes could barely track the crimson blur of Reynauld's weapon as he sought to mercifully free them from the darkness in which they dwelled.

"Yes Reynauld! Bring them into the Light!" Once again she reached out and called upon Pelor's favor to shield his faithful from harm.

Simone will cast Shield of Faith on Reynauld. (+2 to AC)

Corinne's arrow catches the first grimlock to emerge from the tunnel in the throat. Consumed by frustration and rage, it is trampled by its fellows in their charge towards the party. A charge that proves their undoing. Reynauld's lucerne hammer becomes a whirling dervish of steel, shattering bone and spraying blood over the already-slicked cavern walls. By the time the last grimlock has emerged, it is the last grimlock remaining. Stunned to stupidity by its own impotence, it hurls its morningstar at Reynauld, the heavy steel flying with uncanny accuracy only to glance off Simone's holy ward.

Perhaps it was a mercy that the grimlocks were blind to their own destruction. Reynauld sought to bring the butchery to an end swiftly, channeling divine grace through his hammer as he swung at the final foe.

"Yeah no actually I'm pretty full up on Heroics and shaking. Been cast that spell. I want to strut and stride in the light of this mutts melting face. DIE." Cordellia almost spat the last word to have it be audible as an explosion of technicolor flame suddenly apparated in her hand and nearly knocked her over. She steadied her black glove with her free hand, directing the burning gout of magic into a narrow column of scintillating iridescent fire and then into a focused beam that twinkled disdainfully in her eye.
