Since we are finally nearing the end are there any quotes to express something like "The end is near!"

From today's strip, "You are what you eat", to commemorate Schlock's 20-year history of eating anything and everything?

This time his omnivorousness may just have saved the entire universe...

EDIT: just getting started on the list:

    Schlock Mercenary IX: The Mundivore.

You are what you eat works as well.

The houseplant thing seems like one of those titles that works really well for the next few weeks but after that be a lost reference.

We're about to see a sergeant in commotion.

At some point wasn't Schlock called a devourer of worlds?

Also, devourer of the universe. https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2014-03-08
    Both encapsulated in "mundivore," incidentally.

    Hrmm. Not quite Schlocknuri.

I remember one of the "this is act 3" posts telling us that Schlock would still be around and still be a mercenary after the main story was finished. So will Schlock immediately reform, having essentially been copied into dark matter rather than converted (assuming he's even in there, having copied himself into the dronuri using eyeball protocol or something), or will they need another way to get him back later? Or did Howard lie and is this the end for our hero? (It's probably not that one.)

Eh, Schlock's been killed before. Early on in the mission to Oisri. Petey made a new one.

    First, I don't think we're getting a Schlock-nuri.

Second, I think Schlock is physically fine, wasn't he in a VR-like experience, not physically being squashed?

I don't think Schlock-nuri is quite out of the question yet. The tight framing in today's strip suggests something lurking unnoticed just out of frame. My bet: tomorrow's punchline will be something about being eaten twice.

It's a pun, it's clearly a Schlock Mercenary reference, and it's bound to be appropriately topical for at least part of the new thread.

I'm not going to come up with anything better myself.

I feel the need to mention the tub of happiness. Or the time the ambassador got mugged coming out of the mega cost club. Or the time the purple stepped in a bathtub full of schlock. Or the time all the amorphs had a party and their guest of honor was a criminal.

I realised today, Schlock is a shoggoth, I should have realised it sooner.
The end of what Son? The story? There is no end. There's just the point where the storytellers stop talking.

Ok, that is the panel we've all been waiting for since the "dark matter Schlock" idea was mooted.

For having his name in the title, it's been a long time since he really got to drive the plot, but no more!

Also, I'm even more fond of "you are what you eat" as the next title now. It's been Schlock's schtick since the very beginning, and now it'll save the galaxy.

I'm not sure about when the decline actually started, but for me the symbolic moment that sums it up best was when Schlock developed a conscience. In that moment, he went from being a slightly simple but totally bad-ass mercenary Sergeant to effectively a hyper-effective cutesy child sidekick. And just as Taylor was changing the essence of the titular character, he changed the nature of the comic to something much less enjoyable.

Biggest play I ever made: "I want to eat something over there." Anticipated the trope of "being able to move" that you see in all stories these days.

Eat it, kill it, make friends with it, or take a bath in it: those are the points of your moral compass. Has it really been 10 years since massively parallel? Wow.
