Jean reels at the sudden death of Zoo - though he'd only just met the strange shapeshifting creature, he was still a life casually taken - bur doesn't retreat. Behind him, Bjorn is still lying on the ground, if Jean can buy him a few short moments they can fight together.

Instead, Jean again lays his claim down on the Tatterman, and attacks.

R17T17: The Tatterman heals another 5. He casts a quick spell that Jean can't quite react to, and then touches Jean along the cheek with a touch of fatigue.

R17T14: Björn gets to his feet and pulls a small vial from his backpack, unstoppers it and downs it in one gulp.

R17T12: Aware of the properties of the cantrip, Jean felt uncomfortable as his body's vital energy is almost robbed, but he knew how to breathe and meditate long enough to resist the effects. Jean, what do you do?

Now that Bjorn is up, Jean steps back before sharpening his mind and laying his own tangled skein of magic over himself. This fight had the makings of one that would last a while - it would be best if his protections didn't lapse.

R18T17: With nobody threatening him, the Tatterman takes his time in carving terribly into Zoo's abdominal cavity and completely eviscerating him with his war razor. Even as Zoo is now surely dead, the Tatterman heals 5. The Tatterman then beckons tauntingly with his razor. Björn realizes that he will never not be afraid of the Tatterman.

R18T14: Björn, what do you do?

The only thing Björn can think to do is renew his attacks...

He'll step forward and attempt to sheath his dagger in crystal again, unsure if he has the strength to do so, and strike out at the creature shouting "For Zoo and all the fallen! You are a dream! Nothing more and I shall wake!!"

R18T14: The only thing Björn can think to do is renew his attacks. He steps forward and sheathes his dagger in crystal again, exhausting his psionic reserves as he does so, and strike out at the creature shouting "For Zoo and all the fallen! You are a dream! Nothing more and I shall wake!!"

Mimicking what the Tatterman did to Zoo several times, Björn slashes the monster across the belly for a whopping 17!

R18T12: Jean, what do you do?

Again Jean finds his mind split in two - part of him gibbers in horror at Zoo's sudden, callous death, the other cheers Bjorn's sudden success. Either way, he has only one response. Jean raises his scimitar and joins Bjorn in his assault.

R19T17: The Tatterman doesn't regenerate this round. Even though it was Björn that struck the Tatterman last, and firmly, yet the monster studies Jean and attacks with a single slash of his blade. The war razor cuts Jean along his chest for 6.

R19T14: Björn, now that the power of a morality greater than your own protects you (despite your continuing fears), what do you do?

R19T14: Björn sees that the opening is there and he is the only one capable of doing anything right now, so he attacks again, but his blade is deflected by some weak magical protection of some sort.

Jean is almost methodical, now, the pain bringing a clarity of purpose that was absent before. His sword rises and falls like a butcher's knife, given sharpness by the Tatterman's misfortune.

R19T12: Jean is almost methodical, now, the pain bringing a clarity of purpose that was absent before. His sword rises and falls like a butcher's knife, given sharpness by the Tatterman's misfortune, but too methodical means too slow in the case of the frustratingly agile Tatterman.

End Round 19, Begin Round 20 ...

R20T17: With neither man hitting Tatterman in the past few seconds, his healing continues (5). He has proven he has quicker ways of dispatching or at least harassing the PCs, and yet the Tatterman is "playing with his food" with lesser abilities. Once again he concentrates and casts the spell he used before that creates a sort of trailing after image of his war razor.

R20T14: Björn, what do you do?

"Jean, I have an oil that could help your blade align against his morality! Would it help you?" says the big Northman as he swipes out with his blade again.

Speaking of, a renewed tie of bad luck leads to another cutting blow, this one hopefully actually landing on the infernal thing.

R21T17: Jean's armor stops the Tatterman's first slash, but even the half-elf's use of the leaping spirit stance doesn't help against the shadowy afterimage of the blade that impacts along the side of Jean's stomach for 9 cold. The Tatterman then slashes again, but the razor is stopped by Jean's force field. The Tatterman also heals 5.

R21T14: Björn, Jean is definitely disabled now ... on his feet, but in real danger of falling from effort. What do you do?

"Get yourself clear! I don't know if I can hold him off, but try to get help!"Björn holds his action until Jean takes his. Once he moves, Björn will step into the space he occupied and take his action.

R21T13: To everyone's surprise, Lord Hanley huffs and puffs into the room! He no longer appears to be scared ... at all.

R22T17: The Tatterman heals 5. He then steps to where he could now reach any of the heroes. He defensively casts a spell (cause fear) at Lord Hanley, but the Little Lord is having none of it this time.

R22T13: Lord Hanley picks up his dagger that he had dropped, and gets cut across his left upper arm for 7 for his troubles. He then changes position to be opposite of Jean.

R22T12: Jean, what do you do?

And he attacks again.

R22T12: Jean steps away again, hoping the sudden resurgence of Lord Hanley means the others - and their healing - aren't far behind.

He attacks again, but the feel wracking him keeps him from committing enough to his attack, and he hits the Tatterman's hide, but does not push through.

End Round 22, Begin Round 23 ...

R23T17: The Tatterman heals 5. Completely toying with the group now, he again defensively casts cause fear, but this time on Jean.

R23T13: "I will take what you can give me," he says. "Keep fighting, and tell me where on you I can find the vial."

R23T12: Jean, roll a Will save vs. fear. Also, tell me what you do for the round (assuming you successfully save) ...

Björn on deck, Tatterman in the hole, Lord Hanley delaying for Björn's response ...

R23T12: Jean is frightened, but not completely witless. He doesn't run into a blind panic (which would have him succumbing due to disability). Rather, Jean - no longer in leaping spirit stance - hobbles out as quickly as his body will let him without incurring further injury. Several seconds later, Jean's scimitar no longer is magically augmented to strike as a larger weapon.

R23T11: Björn replies, "In my backpack!" and he attacks again. In trying to lower his body into a fighting crouch or Lord Hanley's expected rummaging (remember, he is size Small), Björn's swing goes wild. It is more of a guarding defensive action than an offensive one.

End Round 23, Begin Round 24 ...

R24T17: The strange mental fog that the Tatterman laid upon Björn and Jean a minute ago has abated .... the one that made Björn more susceptible to sleep and made both men duller in senses. Too bad, because both of the fearful men could do with some separation from the reality they are in, including that the Tatterman heals another 5. Though pressed by two active combatants, the Tatterman is a predator. He easily avoids Björn's blade (which, if you will remember was so bad in attack it was more defensive) and runs down Jean. Jean tries to pull away, only for the razor to slash his right palm and up into his inner wrist to the brachial artery. It is not a severe attack, really, only doing 3 .... but the shock of the pain, the fear, and Jean's exhaustion is enough that the half-drow (or is it the former Ottoman human) falls to the ground, unconscious and bleeding.

R24T13: Well, with the Tatterman out of range, it is no longer as dangerous for Björn to bend down a little further. With Björn's verbal help, Lord Hanley finds the oil of align weapon .... which from the comforting warmth tells the young lord that it is one just for this occasion (i.e., it gives a weapon a Good essence). He pours it on his masterwork dagger. "Thanks, Björn, for the all the good this may do."

R24T11: Björn, now that the Little Lord has what he needs, what do you do?

Jean, you can do this in Discord, but roll a stabilization check ...
