There's only one person! But there were two sets of footprints, which suggests either the hero either overpowered or lost the other person...assuming that is the hero. Keeping an eye out in case the other person suddenly shows up, Zophiel waits in the hallway (holding the bucket still) for the hero(?) to get closer - close enough to see better who it actually is. "Hi," she not-quite-loud-enough-to-call-it-calling-out, and waves to catch their attention.
    "Zophiel? Is that you?"
Yeah, that sounds like Ririn. She walks up towards the Paladin. Looks like her too, although is there something different about her eyes? A paler color? More obvious is that she's pretty beaten up. Bruises here and there. Backpack strap cut. Bloodstaining her shirt from a wound below her arm, trickling from her nose, smeared on her lips and chin.
"I found it. Great job distracting those guys."
She waves a sword - well, it's at least half a sword, not the half you might expect - vaguely. The sword has a hilt and crossguard, a point and a ricasso, but it's missing the sides of the blade. And the length. It's in pieces - and not enough pieces to compose a whole blade - which just hover together in the general outline of a sword.
    "You okay?"

Felix smiles, clapping his hand together once and taking a moment to closely inspect Krayger's work. "Yes, yes, absolutely wonderful. Not a bad first effort at all, I'd say. Now it is true that magical aptitude makes some difference in how the golem performs, but this-" He gestures at the model "This is by far the most important part."

He chuckles and slowly strolls over to a shelf, pulling down a big, heavy, oooold-looking book.

"Golemancy manual. The incantations are quite lengthy, if you haven't stored them in something handy like a bone, say."

"How do you store an incantation in a bone?" he asks, as he gingerly opens the book. Hopefully it didn't come from the time before tables of contents.

Ambrosia quickly backs away from the spot, holding her tome against her chest as if it would shield her from the powerful jolt of electricity that was unleashed. Her eyes widened in shock.
It seemed she had underestimated their foe as he possessed something far beyond that of a human. This man must have invited something powerful into his being or he was one of them in disguise.

Still, she trusted that Thariza and Corvus would deal with the situation. Willa could probably aid them as well considering she seemed to have her own connection to the yokai.
Therefore, she will simply move away and observe for now.

"Yes, I..." Wait, how exactly did she distract them? Zophiel wonders. "I didn't really do anything, but...no problem."

She points back out the way she came from, back to the kitchen. "The way out's this way...I'm fine. Are you alright?" She looks at the hero's wounds...she could heal her after they leave this place: they don't look that serious that it requires immediate attention. "You must've fought a lot of people."

Movement catches Corvus' attention, distracting from the fact that the messenger just shrugged off a massively powerful blow that should have felled any mere mortal, and probably would have given an Exalt a pause. He leaps with the grace of a tiger as the snake-monster attacks, his form shifting back to his War Form, the were-tiger form he wore before. There's an ethereal roar, like that of a tiger as he activates another Charm, turns his body in mid-air, and aims two lightning-fast blows against the creature's neck as it passes. He's starting to run low on Essence, but he shouldn't need to use more Charms unless the snake-monster is somehow shielded like its master. If that's the case, then the others will need to run.
Why is it Plan A is always, "Get 'Em!" and Plan B is, "Cause as much collateral damage as possible"?

Willa’s body screams a warning as the energy gathers in the air. Glancing at her staff, she glances at the runes inscribed down it. Well, time to be useful while she can. She does not move; instead she rears up high with her staff held aloft. Screaming her half-human cry, she moves to catch the lightning with her instrument and redirect it at the arrogant beast-master as the inscription on her staff quickly burns away.
Honestly she was rather lucky that they used something she normally has to ward away for her job. Otherwise she would have been likely to be rather useless in a fight with such powerful creatures. Hopefully that does the trick as she doesn’t have any more weather-wards.

Asking the gardener questions, talking to the guy at the gate, wrestling a crossbow away from someone...it all adds up.

"Oh, just four or five, I think."
The hero says, somehow not entirely sure.
"I'll be alright; this is just a scratch." Ririn -I'm not sure I can actually say 'lies', because it's obviously much more serious than that. But not so serious she can't make it up a flight of stairs and outside. "Let's go."
She'll slowly but steadily walk the way Zophiel pointed.

Snarling, Thariza points her claw at the snake-monster and another voice, not her, cries out:

    "Ash Legion, fall in!"

As if on command, a spectral Charr appears out of thin air, a dagger in each hand. He spins through the air, slashing at the snake-heads. The attacks won't hurt much, but will be painful, forceful and distracting. Thariza herself, meanwhile, takes aim and begins taking quick shots at the snakes, with arrows that glow orange and seem to be cruelly barbed.

    Yeah, that checks out, then.

Zophiel leads her through the kitchen and up the stairs, and...then stops before they have the chance to go out a window.
"Hey. I'm going to heal you right now," she says, changing her mind on her earlier decision, "since it's a decent spot and we might need to run across the lawn." They always chase you just as you're about to get out.

Unless the hero vociferously objects, Zophiel will step towards her to look for the wounds, reach for them, and try to heal them - by way of the familiar black threads spreading out from her palm to stitch the wounds back together and then heal them.

The hero leans against the door to the storeroom with the window by which they plan to make their escape, breathing heavily.

All the injuries do seem pretty trivial except for the one in her side, where she seems to have been stabbed pretty deeply. It's much worse than she was saying.

The hero is going to be pretty tense upon seeing the black threads. "Uh...what is that?"
    But I don't think it's a vociferous objection. Just a slight one.

The beast rears up as it's attacked, hissing threateningly. Only Corvus's strike penetrates the scales, and not as deeply as he might have hoped. It snaps at the spectral charr, quicker than most beings could hope to react to. It's many heads seek to pull their quarry apart.

The leader was in the midst of taking some action when the lightning is redirected toward him. He's caught totally off guard as the bolt strikes him dead center in the chest. He throws his hand back and the electricity arcs out from his fingertips and into the ground. He's not dead like the last man struck was, but he at least looks harried.

Corvus hears a voice in his ear. "Forget the beast, warrior. Your time is little before it's kin close." If he spares a moment to look, he'll now be able to see spectral chains branching out from the snake before them, leading to the rapidly approaching other monsters.

"Back, spirit!" The leader shouts as the smokey figure of their spirit ally appears in front of him. He makes a warding motion, but the spirit simply reaches through his arm and touches his chest with a knife-like finger. Cracks alight across his chest, all meeting where the bolt had struck his chest moments before. The smokey figure then vanishes.

    Wow.

Zophiel's glad they stopped here before going on, after checking out the side-wound.

"Oh." Right. Ririn hasn't seen her do something like this before.

Matter-of-factly, in a manner similar to a way a doctor would describe something, she says, "It's healing magic. First they're going to hold your wounds together, like a suture, and then they'll release magic around them to heal it." By the time she finishes explaining, they'll have had time to spread across her and suture up the wounds. "Is that fine?" And then they'll start doing healing magic.

Oh, don't be so worried, Zophiel. It was probably survivable.

"Uh, okay." Ririn says, not at all sounding sure. "I always figured magic would just go, without stitches."
There's no reason the healing magic shouldn't work: the bleeding stop, the flesh mending, perhaps even removing the nasty scar that might otherwise form.

From downstairs there's a crash; a door breaking open, and hurried footsteps towards the kitchen.

He smiles and flicks through to a page about two thirds of the way through the book. "First thing to remember with any magic like this. Whoever wrote the book on it wrote their way of doing it. The first four hundred page of this book are just for ways of preparing and crafting your golem. Well, we've done that, and you've made something much better than if you'd followed the steps in the book. Beyond that, we have different incantations for what purpose your golem will serve. Now we'll be going with a basic servant golem for our two friends here, which is thiiis one." He nods and motions for Krayger to start reading. "And don't worry, it's only about twenty pages. Have a read through it, and see how much of it makes sense."

Assuming our oversized apprentice has been paying attention in his prior studies, Felix has prepared him pretty well for this. It won't all be familiar, but a lot of it is quite simple - it's just a lot longer than anything he's tried so far.

Krayger nods, and gets started on the book.
...he does hold it a little oddly, putting it rather close to his face. He does read at a reasonable pace, though.
"So...that's it? Just one long incantation? It seems so...simple?" he asks incredulously. Maybe there's some nuance he's missing? It doesn't seem like there is, but that must be it. It can't be easy.

Yeah, it was probably survivable, but Zophiel's recently made a bunch of poor decisions so she doesn't want to risk doing that again.

Once the threads are all in place and start healing, there's no need to stand around waiting for the healing to finish, so Zophiel gets upright again. "We should go now," she says, stating the obvious.

"This way." The paladin starts to run towards the window she took in.
Once she gets there, she'll just...jump out.

"Ahhh, that's better. As I was saying, on the fifth page there's a section on how to prepare the golem. I keep everything I need in this here."

Zophiel considers shouting up at her to just jump: that she'll catch her - but she wasn't really all that interested in being caught when they got down from the wall earlier.

So, Zophiel wasn't prepared to try to catch the hero.

    But!
Luckily, the hero hesitated. The paladin suddenly wonders if the hero isn't completely healed yet, so she turns around and does her best to prevent the worst-case scenario. The worst-case scenario is, of course, the hero's head hitting the ground first. That's something that can happen if you just fall out of the window (rather than jumping out).

Trying to do this and making sure Ririn's okay from the fall, Zophiel won't be able to get away by the time the stair-goer and soon-to-be window-looker arrives.

Zophiel gets in the way of the hero's fall, spinning her around a bit, so she hits the ground with an arm, on her side.
She's winded, but I think the paladin broke her fall enough.

    Commotion up at the window.
    "They're leaving!"
    "-getting away?"
    "Open the gate!"

He groans, stooping over for a moment. "Anyway- oof- round about the fifth page of- ow- the incantations, it has a-" He sighs and pauses and twists his back with another loud click. "Ahhh, that's better. As I was saying, on the fifth page there's a section on how to prepare the golem. I keep everything I need in this here."

    Krayger raises a disapproving eyebrow.
"Felix, you should be letting me do that." he chides the very powerful but elderly mage. Isn't this one of the perks to taking an apprentice with seven feet of height and several hundred pounds of muscle?
But what's done is already done, so Krayger lets it go and gets back onto reading that fifth page.

    [An Epic Journey]

Corvus' awareness snaps around to the chain leading towards the other approaching monsters for a brief instant before he nods to himself just slightly as their spectral ally manages to strike the leader in the chest. He springs once more, at the leader again, aiming a powerful knife-hand strike towards the spot the spirit just hit, the center of the cracks that have appeared, his other hand drawn back, ready to jackhammer the same spot with another knife-hand strike should the first connect. If his theory is correct, the spirit just broke the man's defenses, and it will just take a bit more to shatter them completely. The monster can wait a few more moments while he tests his theory.
Why is it Plan A is always, "Get 'Em!" and Plan B is, "Cause as much collateral damage as possible"?

    Okay.

    This is...good?

"You good?" Zophiel asks the hero. She reaches and pulls to help Ririn get back up, because "we gotta run."

Zophiel should have thought ahead and found the most direct route out of there. Instead, it seems like they have no choice but to just backtrack and go to that damaged part of the wall they saw earlier as they were descending from it.

She runs - only dragging the hero along if it looks like she'll be too slow.

Willa is pretty much out of options here. A wooden stick with a little extra weight on one end isn’t going to do much against a scaled monster and a superhuman. She starts fishing for something else she can use, but it’s probably best if she leave this to the two warriors.

The dagger-wielding Charr will prove hard to strike. He's not actually there - he's just a memory pulled by Thariza from the Mists. Still, the snakes' assault will disperse him eventually. Thariza, meanwhile, realizes what Corvus is doing fairly quickly and decides what her part in it is. She unleashes a flurry of flaming arrows towards the monster, to keep its attention off Corvus while he strikes. She realizes they're more likely to irritate it than actually hurt it, but that might be all she needs.

"Uhf, uh, I'm good." the hero obviously lies as she's helped to her feet.
But she is good enough to run (if awkwardly to start) across the fortress courtyard.

The first two pursuers jump down and start running as well. They've got a good lead, though. The only real risk will be when getting over the damaged wall segment.
The gardener waves at the two heroes as they race by.
