Next Omnibus Book

Hi, long time reader/lurker, but never really delved into the forums. Have all the books, and I know this has probably been discussed before, but will there be another omnibus volume web comics at any point?

I did search, but failed to find 😭

The obvious answer is "yes", because the Giant needs to eat and this is his job now, but the actual online book isn't finished yet, and until it is we have no idea when the print version will come out.

The current events, dealing with the Order battling Greg the vampire, will become (print) Book 6 eventually, and the conclusion of the overall story will become Book 7.

Every online comic will be published in paper book and pdf book form eventually.

The comic has a planned arc of 7 books, and we're currently in book 6.

I must be somewhat in the dark about this. I always kind of assumed this would be the last one... But I felt that way around book four, too.

When was this information given? Maybe in the Kickstarter campaign? I admit I didn't pay much attention back then.

How could this be the last one? It's focused entirely around the Order's conflict with a villain who only came into existence at the end of the last book, with Xykon and Redcloak only appearing in one scene, far away from the Order.

Hel wins, the World gets destroyed, everyone dies.
It is in no way a satisfying ending to the story, but it would be a way to end it.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people believe the Giant to be a terrible writer. Not even Christopher Paolini at his worst would consider that "ending" to be in any way something they should inflict on the world.

I may have a less nuanced perspective than you, but it's unfair to say I think Mr Burlew is a "terrible writer". I asked a question. That's all.

In case it was not obvious, my earlier reply was not entirely serious.

Seems like the actual books usually come out 6-9 months after the online comics hit the "end of book" point. My pretty random guess is that we'll see book 6 in print in the first half of 2020, though that could go later, especially if the current story meanders (e.g. We get a bunch of strips set in the Western Continent, which last we left off showed the Snarl bursting forth.) or what seem like moderate-to-easy obstacles for the Order to overcome become really intricate.

There's likely another collection book coming in the next few years when Rich collects some of the other pdfs, the Gygax magazine strips and some new material.

More importantly (since it will be the next set of funds), we're coming up on the 2019 calendar.

Speaking of the PDFs, looks like the CPPD one will be released next. I'm pretty excited for that one.

That's the one that interests me least, on the other hand--I never felt the CPPD were such great characters that we needed a story following them. Dim Sun is the one I'd really like to see.

I never played Dark Sun, or even knew what it was before the Dim Sun announcement. I'm also not terribly invested in Julio Scoundrél. The one I'm most anticipating for is Sir Francious, but CPPD was really entertaining for me and I love L&O and Columbo so I'm a pretty good audience for satirical cop antics.

Well, the CPPD was a Backer's Choice reward, which is why it's being given priority. Whoever selected it has been waiting quite a while.

Oh, I'm fully aware why it's being given priority--just saying it isn't as anticipated by me as the other stuff. I'm not expecting the Giant to change his priorities just because of me, despite this being the Internet and all...
