A shadow covers the moon; a wolf howls. Your power calls forth a villain from the Demiplane of Dread.

You summon a villain from a distant plane of terror. Roll 1d8 to determine the general type of creature you summon, then choose a creature from the available options for that type (see below). Other options may be possible, at the GM's discretion.

Creatures you summon are not under your control, though it may be possible to persuade, trick, or coerce them into doing your bidding in the short term. Otherwise, they work towards their own malevolent ends until they are banished or slain.

Although this is a Necromancy spell, the summoned creatures are treated as though there were conjured by a Conjuration (Summoning) spell. They gain the [Extraplanar] subtype and can be banished via dismissal, a successful greater dispel magic, and similar magic.

If you are slain, all creatures you have summoned through this spell are instantly banished.

I fudged the Mind Flayer option a bit to make it more Cthulhu-like, though I'm shamelessly promoting my own material - Xenomorphs could be Kytons etc.
