Default New to RPG’s - LFG

    Hey Everyone!

I have always been interested in RPG’s however I don’t know anyone who plays or is also interested. I’d like to play with a group online as a PC to really start my dive in. I am familiar with several games and I am looking to start with something simple like Monster of the Week (or any recommendation of similar skill) before I dive into something like a few of the more complicated D&D set ups. Anyone willing to start a game together or any groups willing to take in a noob?

When you say play over PC, do you mean using roll20, discord, or other platform to play at the same time, or would a play by post be okay? If the latter, you might want to ask in the PbP section in these forums, I'm sure somebody will be up for it.

If you want to find a group that does live, online play I would recommend:

    Roll20
    Fantasy Grounds
And isn't there that tabletop simulator on Steam or something? I don't know if that's any good.

Alternatively, you can find asynchronous games, primarily played on the forums, right here on GitP. Some use other media, and you get the odd live, or even face-to-face game recruiting on there.

For systems, I will warn you that you will often struggle to find anything other than D&D, or one of its clones life Pathfinder, D20-anything and the various Old School Revivals. That doesn't mean you should give up hope; you will find other games, it might just take a bit of patience and it's well worth having that patience.

FATE is pretty nice and simple and, best of all, free. There's a very rules-light version called FATE Accelerated, too.

There are lots more games, though, like Monster of the Week, depending on your tastes. Some of them have their setting baked right into them - 7th Sea, for example, or the Warhammer Fantasy and 40k RPGs - and some are much more setting neutral, like FATE, Cortex, Cortex Plus and Fudge.

I'm sure the community here can ramble on a lot about different settings and systems, and either help you find a system and setting that suits your taste or, possibly, confuse you terribly while burying you under a mountain of jargon
