    Default Masters of the Wild OOC

    Hello!

    Stuff:
    -When rolling, please do it in the IC thread under a spoiler tag. If you crit on attack, just double damage rolls as opposed to rolling more dice.
    -Block initiative: surprise, then either you all get a chunk of time to make attacks before the enemies go or vice versa.
    -Everyone needs to determine a character color.
    -I'll whip up a table for character name, race/class, color, player username, but I'm not good at making tables in GitP, so it might not look purrty. Alternatively, one of you more experienced could step up!

    Looming high over a treacherous mountain pass, there is a monastery shrouded in legend. The monks there are renowned as guardians of justice and paragons of virtue. They serve as a kingís champions or a high priestís personal guard, as protectors of the mighty. They form the Order of the Rising Sun.

    Taken in by the monks of the high pass as a child, Faye has always dreamed of becoming a monk of the Rising Sun herself. But though she passed through the orderís martial arts training among the first of her class, she was denied the realization of her dream. The order council acknowledged her promising skills, but also rebuked her for her 'arguable attitude' of questioning authority and the orderís ancient traditions.

    So, Faye has been refused admittance into the order. Instead, she has been sent out on a journey to 'learn to serve', offering help and healing to the ones in need. On her quest for righteousness, prudence and, most of all, humbleness, she still wears the brown cowl of the novice. Maybe, one day, she can trade it for a black one with a white sun upon it.

    To actually answer the question, I think I switched to calling Cadmoor a town after assuming we aren't tracking every group of 100-ish people in the region.

    Yeah, I'm always wary about that kind of stuff. If the GM had insisted that it is a village then we'd be going in with different expectations than we are now that it's a town. It's the little detail that Tek would pick up and overanalyze while other things were being decided. I didn't really expect much more than what Zavvix said, but Tek did. That being said, I have no further questions.

    Some general questions better asked OOC:

    How are the Masters of the Wild organized? What is the hierarchy aside from the Warden?
    (Is the Warden himself regarded as a "leader" of the order, or merely as a "manager" coordinating the efforts of the other order members?)

    Will one of our party of order initiates be assigned the leader for our task? (I'm not intended to force a ranking order within our group here. Just trying to picture the "usual" modus operandi of the order.)

    Warden basically coordinates the efforts of the garden they control (garden being major base, there are two gardens in the Vipernoss, one in most very other major forest). They have authority, and are usually mages of high renown, but their job is mainly organization and keeping their garden running.

    You can decide the leader among yourselves. Zavvix doesn't want to impose too much order on you- agents are typically freeform and independent, and the gardens (still barely organized) are the most prevalent structure in the Masters. The entire thing is loosely organized at best, so the structures of power are never stagnant...

    Thanks for clarifying on that! Sounds like the Masters of the Wild is just the organization Faye has been looking for :)

    I'm assuming that everyone is traveling on their first day of travel.

    I'm pretty sure that isn't what the question was looking for, but I'm not sure what it is looking for.

    How the party is arranged? The order of night watches? Whether we're all traveling together, in small groups, or separately?

    I meant more, who's foraging? Are you drawing in a sketchbook? Who's reading the map? Stuff like that.

    Assuming an 8 hour night, four watch shifts of 2h seem reasonable.

    Watch schedule for the first night:
    1. Tek, Perception: 19
    2. Rebecca, Perception: 7
    3. Elmir, Perception: 19
    4. Faye, Perception: 18

    The others can simply take the first night off; or we can go with shifts of two (though we're short one person then).
