    The spell on the door is clearly Arcane Lock keyed to a seven-pointed star, just not this one. Most likely a star the same size as carved on the doors. The spell has pretty high caster level. As for the auras beyong the doors, they are impossible to identify through solid stone. Lebwen can only determine the school of the rug-sized aura. It's Evocation.

    You start to do exactly that, beginning with the nearest location you did not exactly search, that is the eastern room, the one with three tables cluttered with stuff that did not originally attract your attention and the remains of the remains that did. This time you turn your attention towards the stuff on the tables and, sure enough, there it is, mostly buried under the tools and other implements, steel seven-pointed star! You all get yourselves ready and apply the star to the doors. The star fits and the doors click. Then the doors start to slowly open towards you. Behind them is a 30-by-15-feet room with a shallow pit of burning flame in the center that fills the room with a strange humid heat and the smell of burning hair. In the northern corners of the room, wooden risers each hold several dozen golden candles that burn without melting, while to the south the wall bears an immense carving of a seven-pointed star. Otherwise, the room seems to be empty.

    That pool must be the runewell. Quite fascinating. I think Brodert or at least Master Kalizandrex will be interested in that. Adalbert kneels down to look closely at the magic of the pool. When he has seen enough he tries to fill the used potion vials with a few ounces of the liquid without getting too much into contact with it.

    As I see it, the runewell is arcane magic in an alchemical form, maybe as powerful as a potent acid or base, maybe it reacts in a fiery way with living creatures. It might as well smell like burned hair by default. It might have been used recently and just removed the hair of the victim. Remember the spawn we saw? They had smooth skin.

    You enter the room. No curse seems to befall on you upon entry. There is magic everywhere around and you start concentrating to find out more. Lebwen starts to walk along the wall clockwise, and Iris starts to walk counterclockwise. Adalbert only discovers that the shallow burning pit is (a) dry and (b) hot... when things started happening. Namely, you hear a spell being cast in the western part of the room. You see nothing in there.

    Lizuga moves in and bashes with her shield. The shield catches nothing. Lebwen detects a lot of magic in the room - many, many auras of up to strong size. Iris moves to the eastern side of the room, bow in hand. As she does, she feels some very strong jaws nearly tearing off her right leg for 20 damage, but she is able to get, limping, away. A large beefy vaguely goblin-faced creature becomes visible in the north-western corner of the room. It steps out and attacks. Justin gets a bite and a blow for a total of 36 damage and is knocked out. Lizuga gets a bunch of parallel deep scratches across her leg for 14 damage, but is still standing.

    Iris watches on horror as blood - her own blood, and lots of it - splashes against the walls of he chamber. She stumbles away, not really comprehending what has just happened. Her leg gives out and she slides along the wall. Adalbert is there next to her dragging something, someone. She can't see what it is but it leaves a lot of blood trailing behind it.

    Then Lizuga is next to her and she feels the woman's power strengthen her. Her leg is better and she can focus once more. With everyone starting to gather together out of the chamber she calls on further divine blessings from Shelyn to aid the party.
