Eralia contemplates jumping into the ocean to perhaps climb aboard the enemy ship below, but given distance and speed, she declined knowing it would be beyond her capabilities. She retains her anchoring position to steady herself as the winds pick up.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
This time the rocking causes Asvard to lose his balance and he stumbles to the starboard railing, just managing to grab a hold of it and stop his movement before it would have taken him overboard. He notices another pirate hanging on the other side, tightly holding onto a rope which is the last thing preventing him from taking a dive into the restless waters. Asvard recognises him as Tybalt, the Quartermaster's shifty helper.
Unfortunately the violent swinging prevents Vigo from getting good holds of the rope and he's left where he started for the moment. He is however fairly certain he won't suddenly fall.
Piscine manages to clamber back into the crow's nest, holding onto the edge for balance. The hostile winds are starting to relent a little though the sea is still tumultuous. From his position he has a good view to the other ship which is getting closer and on its deck cannons are being readied to fire.
Eralia follows the other ship intently as it closes in the distance. She estimates that on its current course it will pass the Gall Seeker at 200 ft. distance. Should she wish to swim over, her best chance would be at that moment, just when it's in the best firing position.
Hesti slides over the deck and helps drag the Gun Master back to the right side of the railing. The Captain doesn't care to give her time to breathe and gather herself, "Waltya!! I want those cannons loaded! NOW!! Abrayus, get crossbows ready to shoot! Weather mages! Will you do something about this mad swinging?! And Ignace, how about you help out FOR ONCE?!! Ironskin steadies herself at the helm, directing the ship as much as she can.
Spoiler: OOCThe rocking is a little less violent for the moment and you can act normally.* The enemy ship is around 500 ft. away at this time. You have 4 rounds before it gets into optimal firing position, please let me know what you wish to do in this time. Some options: Help preparing the cannons, take cover, ready a ranged weapon (crossbows are available), help fellow pirates that are struggling to stay onboard, do magic. Or whatever you would like.
*Except for Tybalt, as he's hanging over the railing on the starboard side, he needs to make an Acrobatics or Athletics check to climb back onto the deck. If successful, this could take only one round.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Scanning the deck for some tool to use, Eralia finds a rope attached to a grappling hook. She grabs it as she dives off the edge of the ship, planning to use it to board the enemy vessel.
Spoiler: OoCStatistically this is a dumb idea, especially with her low Athletics score. But she has a predatory mindset and has not "fed" in a while, so reason starts to go out the window in favor of sating her "hunger." If she fails, assuming the Gall Seeker fires back, a few enemy sailors may fall into the water for her.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Fellow pirates stare in surprise as Eralia voluntarily jumps overboard and starts swimming away from the Seeker, estimating where she can catch up with the other ship.
Spoiler: EraliaDo you swim at or below the surface?
Spoiler: PiscineGood thing you went for climbing down instead of attempting a rope swing. Also fortunately for you, skill checks don't autofail and the rigging doesn't have a high climb DC.
However, it will take him all 4 rounds to get down to the deck.
Still shaky about the wild magic backlash, Piscine almost loses his grip thrice on the way down and has to stop to steady himself every time. This makes his descent painfully slow.
Unfortunately the deck is still rocking too much for Asvard to concentrate on wresting the control of the winds.
Waltya orders the nearby pirates to start loading the cannons and runs herself to the new big cannon they took from the merchant ship yesterday. Abrayus is overseeing the distribution of crossbows, as well as shouting orders to do what is possible to steady the ship.
Spoiler: OOCEveryone except Piscine still have time to take actions before the other ship is in position to fire. I would recommend at least Tybalt to remove himself from outside the railing as he is currently even more on the line of fire than on the main deck. :PLast edited by CWater; 2019-07-12 at 03:23 PM.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Tybalt's feet slip on the wood as he desperately tries to clamber back onto the deck. His efforts are far from graceful and he almost loses his grip at the last second, but in the end he manages to pull himself to safety. Or well, to a less precarious situation at least.
The enemy ship sails closer but it doesn't seem to be planning to get too close at this time. And the Gall Seeker is not yet stable enough to begin pursuit, or even turn to dodge. Once the other ship reaches its position at 200 ft. distance its cannons fire a barrage at the pirate ship!

Pirates shout and some scream in pain as they're hit by shrapnel and everyone can feel the ship rock when the side takes hits. One unlucky crewmember suffers a direct hit from a cannonball aimed too high and the impact flies him overboard to the port side.
Waltya groans when her side is pierced by a piece of the railing. "FIRE!!!", the Gun Master shouts and those cannons that the crew had managed to get ready return fire.
"CAN I HAVE SOME CONTROL ON THIS SHIP??!!!", the Captain roars, not flinching even when stray scraps of wood fly in her direction, "Riggers!! Get up to the sails, I want this ship moving!!"
The sea elf eyes the approaching ship like a shark watching its prey. The waves it makes are no issue for her, water has been her home for longer many sailors have been alive. Eralia sees cannons fire, filling the deck with smoke, and Gall Seeker's return shots tear open the ship's side. She flings her grappling hook up and it attaches to one of the newly made holes. She begins to climb the slippery surface and is halfway up when a sailor notices her. "Hey!", she shouts and points a crossbow at Eralia.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Tybalt winces as the splinters kicked up by the shot pepper his side. As death in the form of an enemy ship looms, he's struck by a nonsensical feeling of being grateful. At least he wasn't a vampire, wasn't wood fatal to them or something?
And then the Captain's calling- well, he was no rigger, but he agreed with getting this ship moving as quickly as possible, and knew his knotwork as well as any sailor. He runs to the nearest ropes and starts climbing as the ship bucks and rolls from impact and cannon recoil.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
The side is slippery, but Eralia climbs up the rest of the way onto the deck, towards the sailor who's looking increasingly frightened and shouts to her comrades that they're being boarded. She manages to fire another crossbow bolt at the sea elf before the pirate reaches her.
Spoiler: Sailor attacks EraliaCrossbow: (1d20+4)[7]

As before, no Dex bonus against this attack.
Eralia starts her next turn on the deck right next to this sailor. A few others have been alerted by her shouts, but in general the deck is busy and chaotic.
Despite being under cannonfire, the pirates of Gall Seeker are used to danger and know what they're doing. Tybalt joins the others in carrying out the captain's orders. While he's no rigger monkey, he still knows which ropes to pull at what time and how to be generally useful. The Gall Seeker turns sharply to face the enemy ship and starts drifting towards it. The hostile winds have faded and while the waves remain tumultuous, this is no concern for the experienced pirate crew, and their ship starts to gain speed.
"Prepare for attack!", Ironskin shouts from behind the wheel, "Hah, they should've run when they had the change."
Waltya runs over to the large new cannon, grinning disturbingly. Ignace has managed to drag himself to the bow of the ship and rubs his hands together while muttering arcane words.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Spoiler: OOCAh, not having a tactical map has caused a minor confusion. The first sailor with the crossbow stepped away from Eralia, and it was a different one that charged at her. I interpret her actions so that she attacks the one in front of her face and then moves to be next to her original target. The second sailor is dropped by a single hit.
The poor man that dared to charge Eralia falls to her blade without even touching her. A moment after he's fallen the pirate closes in on her first target who is fumbling with her crossbow. Pale from the bloodloss she takes another step back and fires at Eralia point blank, then quickly loads another bolt.

Damage: (1d6+1)[6]
Warrior 1 doesn't attack this round, but he's adjacent to Eralia.
Behind them the Gall Seeker is getting closer, Ironskin and Abrayus shouting at the crew to get ready. The Gunmaster laughs behind the new cannon and aims a shot at the enemy ship. A fiery explosion erupts at the bow, burning wood, rope and flesh.
Spoiler: EraliaSince you're unfortunately also in the line of fire, please make a Ref save DC 11 or take (2d6)[4] fire damage. Success negates the damage.
Ignace finishes his spell and a ball of fire flies over the waves and hits the other ship's quarterdeck covering it in a fierce inferno. "And that's for breaking my bottle, bastards!", the wizard shouts, holding on to the railing for support.

Tybalt learned his lesson about boarding the last time...
obviously all this bad luck and nearly falling off ships had been because he'd been trying to climb around as a normal human being. Either that or Virnil was hating him more than usual.
Once he manages to climb down from where he'd been helping, Tybalt tests his cursed luck again.
Whether success or failure results, he decides to board with the whole press of the crew... less chance of taking an unplanned swim.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
The savage falcata cuts through another sailor and his body falls to Eralia's feet.
Vigo lands gracefully on the main deck, next to the ship's cannons. He sees Eralia fighting on the forecastle to his right, up the stairs.
"Cannons ready for another volley before they hit us!", shouts a man to Vigo's left. Unlike the regular crew, he's dressed in better leather armour and carries a professional sword at his side.
One of the better dressed officers is hit by the frost and clutches their chest, badly hurt.
From the corner of his eye Asvard notices the girl Sorry, who has again come to watch the battle, climbing to sit on the bowsprit.
Tybalt tries to call upon his inner beast, but with all the cannon fire and general cacophony around him all he can manage is to have his claws twitch a little. Tsk tsk. He can almost hear the goddess of luck taunting him.
Piscine lands on the deck in time for the main assault.

Ws are enemy warriors, better armored (and presumably more skilled) than sailors.
Os are better dressed enemy officers. O3 was badly injured by Asvard.
Ps are pirates (I won't mark them all while still on Gall Seeker, it'd get too crowded).

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Eralia advances in a clear trance, her eyes dilated from the smell of blood. She is almost completely lost in her bloodlust as her mouth shows her shark-like teeth even more prominently. She works her way forward, like a shark, slicing at the next sailor with her scarlet-stained blade. Her movements are seemingly languid, as if she is drunk off of the killing.
Spoiler: Eralia's attackEralia moves to the closest enemy and takes the attack action, (1d20+9)[19]
Crit (19-20)? (1d20+9)[28]
Damage (1d8+5)[13] plus 6 precision damage (spending a Panache Point. If enemy dies, I regain it though) and bleed 1
If Crit add (2d8+10)[12] to damage

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Still reeling a bit, Piscine nonetheless wants to be useful in the fight. Maybe, that way, he won't get his hide tanned by the captain when all of this is over... He moves up towards the edge of the ship's railing, preparing himself to either board the enemy ship or fight off any potential boarders that try to cross onto theirs, trident at the ready.
S C R E A M I N G is always a free action.
If you don't have a group that supports you - if you instead have a group that judges you - find a different group, trust me. It's not worth your life to waste it on a bunch of hyenas who serve no value to you aside from keeping you down. Everyone deserves to have a say at the table regardless of how they do it.

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
Vigo reels from the slash, delivered before he'd had time to properly assess his situation. Quickly regaining his footing, he drops into a fighting stance. "So that's the way we're going to play it, eh?" He squares up and unleashes a dizzying attack, changing direction mid-thrust and attempting to catch his opponent off-guard.
Spoiler: OOCMove action: feint action (fast feint talent)
Bluff check: (1d20+8)[25]
Standard action: attack
Attack: (1d20+7)[10]
Damage: (2d4+1)[6] plus 1 bleed (blooded strike-Duelist sphere) plus (1d6)[1] precision damage if the feint was successful (fatal strike--Fencing sphere)
If the feint and the attack are both successful, Vigo will apply the Wide Open exploit talent which gives the target -2 AC until the end of Vigo's next turn.I'm playing Ironsworn, an RPG that you can run solo - and I'm putting the campaign up on GitP!

Re: IC The Pirate Dream: Sliced Heart
The feint is skillful, but unfortunately the attack itself bounces off the warrior's armour.
Frin aims a crossbow at the same enemy Asvard had frozen. The bolt hits the target in the throat and they collapse onto the deck.
Two more trained fighters approach Eralia. "Pirate scum!", one of them shouts, "We'll feed you all to Ulmia's sharks!" A morningstar and a spear are aimed at her. However, the warriors are clearly not used to fighting on a swinging deck and the attacks are easy to dodge.
Spoiler: W8 and W9 attack EraliaW8
Morningstar: (1d20+4)[7]
Damage: (1d8+2)[5]
W9
Longspear: (1d20+5)[10]
Damage: (1d8+4)[6]
A row of crossbowmen stand up from behind the railing and shoot at the pirates. Cursing follows as the bolts hit arms and shoulders, even Hesti is grazed by one. A frown visits the stoic bosun's face and they back away from the railing and then run back, making a mighty leap from one ship to the other and landing right next to the shooters.
Piscine steps into the space vacated by Hesti, ready to attack once they make contact.Last edited by CWater; 2019-08-10 at 04:14 PM.
