Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Hard mode doubles the base hit points and hit point regeneration of all enemies, including bosses, permanently.
I like your idea of hero units, but I don't think I'd want them to be every single enemy... perhaps bosses could be enemy heroes?
Currently, the default spawn consists of:
2 Lesser Damned Spirits
1 Damned Spirit
1 Aether Golem
1 Aether Dragon
1 Corrupted Murloc
1 Corrupted Forest Spirit
2 Hellhounds
1 Berserker
1 Failed Experiment
What we faced was:
2 Lesser Damned Spirits
2 Damned Spirits
1 Aether Golem
2 Aether Dragons
2 Corrupted Murlocs
2 Corrupted Forest Spirits
4 Hellhounds
2 Berserkers
1 Failed Experiment
Every 30 seconds.
Or, I can't believe I just thought of this now, I could use an 8-tiered Upgrade that gets set to [Level equal to number of User players]. Only drawback is that upgrades can't be downgraded; once it's Tech Level is set to, say, 3, it can never be set to 2, or 1, or 0, I believe. I used this system for the Demon's annual upgrades and for the Hard Mode trigger, as well as the Shaman's Aether Spirit.
Might be inactive for a while -- just got Diablo.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
What you also could do would be to create eight invisible units and tack an aura or two onto each of them - the first has it on level 1, the second one on 2, and so on - and then to make them all neutral, except one, which is allied with the demons. If a player leaves, you change alliances - the being that was allied with the demons so far becomes neutral again, and the next lesser one becomes their ally. The beings are, of course, invincible and placed somewhere where they are out of the way, and the radius of the auras is extended so much that it encompasses the entire map. As for the auras themselves, I think a combination of Command and Devotion Aura should do the trick.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Hmmm... actually, that gave me an idea for a similar system that would probably work better... I'll try it in a bit.
EDIT: While the final product is exactly what WW suggested, the inner workings are more efficient. It checks how many people are playing every half second and sets the Ability Level of the two auras on the dummy unit to the number. Ability levels can go back down, as opposed to upgrades. Although I'm not entirely happy with the green armor/attack bonus and the two buffs... *shrug*.Last edited by The Orange Zergling; 2008-01-15 at 02:24 AM.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
If the gleam of the auras bothers you, you could achieve the same effect by changing all the demons from normal units to heroes after all and give them abilities which passively increase their hit points and damage by X via trigger at their creation. If you use an If(Player Number=Y)-Then(Set ability level to Y) in the trigger which creates the demons, you would not even need a timer checking every half second whether players have left or not - all newly created demons would automatically be weaker after a player left.
Now I have a question: Is it possible to somehow replace the types of cliffs a map uses (as in, I'd like to have the artificial cliffs from the Underground tileset, but the natural cliffs from some other)? It is of course possible to replace the terrains the map uses, but I can't find any way to change the cliffs...LGBTitP Supporter

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
I don't think it's possible to change cliff tiles, but I know it's possible to replace regular tiles. Here...
You can get there by going into Advanced -> Modify Tileset, then checking Use Custom Tileset, if you don't already know.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Wow, I hate those Polish translators now. For me, the text simply states the red tiles cannot be replaced, but doesn't add that this is because they are cliff tiles. It would have spared me a good amount of time had I known that...
Thanks for clearing this up, 'Ling, even though the answer was negative.
Also, what I keep forgetting to ask - which Diablo did you get, and would you wish to play it in multiplayer?LGBTitP Supporter

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
In that case, allow me to point you here and here.
Also, if you are playing Diablo 2, install LoD right away and get the newest patch by logging on to BattleNet. You still play all the original acts, but with the newest fixes, additions and items available (which adds a lot of content, also mechanics-wise).
I'd suggest you play multi-player, not single-player, too, even when alone - the content is the same, but single-player characters cannot be used for multi-player games.
Your StarCraft account will work for Diablo 2 as well, so don't create a new one.
I'd play with you right away, except I'm kinda expecting a phone call from a friend any minute now... and the conversationmightwill take a while.
Later on though, maybe?Last edited by Winterwind; 2008-01-15 at 12:57 PM.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
There is a built-in action that increases Hit Points. It's Player - Set Handicap, and it will set that player's unit's HP to a percentage of the base. Unfortunately, you can't choose which units to affect, as it affects all units for that player (including buildings).

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
I need help with a game I'm creating with World Editor. It's like an Arena game like Angel Arena. I want to know how to make units periodically spawn in places. I am no good with triggers, and never figured out how.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Add a Periodic time event, then set the 2.00 or whatever it is by default to the time you want in between spawns.
Then add a Create Unit at Point Facing Angle action, set the point to the region, unit, or whatever you like. Set the 1 to the number of units you'd like to spawn. Set the Footman to the unit type you'd like to spawn (ie Mortar Team, Crypt Lord, Zergling, whatever). Set the Player 1 to the player number you want the units to belong to, and you're set.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
I, on the other hand, just recently managed to overcome my natural shyness and started playing public 1v1 melee games... and so far, the people have been rather nice (except the one who accused me of maphacking, though I cannot really blame him, after - absolutely coincidentally - ambushing him while he was fighting creeps three or four times in a row).
Though I still need to figure out what to do against Orcs who know how to use their Raiders properly (like, throwing nets on my poor crypt fiends). Plus, I have no practice whatsoever against Undead...
How about some Arranged Team games, or maybe a few practice 1v1s against each other? I'm getting bored of that Peon avatar, I want that fiend I had on Northrend back...Last edited by Winterwind; 2008-01-24 at 06:50 AM.

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Irony:
after ranting in the channel about how unpractical and expensive was for me to get an original copy of TFT, in a not long search on the net i found a copy at a good price (same shop that previously didn't existed, though they had an web address). So all set, i have an original cd-key and game to log on bnet!...
But, today they confirmed me that i'm restarting classes on Monday (summer course), so my gaming time is officially over. My addiction will make me log on when i shouldn't for some time, but i won't be logging in during the week days any more, and might be joining during the weekends.
I will be on to play this weekend still.solo tú sabes bien quien soy y por eso es tuyo mi corazón

So, I'm starting to create my Dominic Deegan Warcraft map. Only problem is, I have never made a map. So I need lots of help. I do know that I want to create an arena style map, though.
Also, for those who have read the comic, what abilities should the characters have in the map?Rational Goblin Avatar by C-Lam. Thanks!

Re: Warcraft Gitp Group
Hello, all fellow Warcraft players!
I have had both games for about three years now, though I occasionally forgot I even had it on my computer. While I have played many a game against the computer foes (And gotten pretty good, in my opinion), I have never actually played on Battle.net. How would I go about this, and finding my fellow playgrounders? I believe I already have the latest incremental patch, so that shouldn't be an issue. In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter - bitter", he answered,
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."
