well they're supposed to be the two genin leftover from that mission that went wrong, so I have an idea that is like "maybe the other genin had some dojutsu thought long dead and gone awakened by their desire for vengeance as a result of their teammates dying" but I'm worried that might be too many bloodlines for sound village.

maybe a bloodline we already have- like an ear.
Or typical to the sound village some curse/mutation.

Heart-Listeners I basically conceived as some mutated offshoot of the Komoro Clan that got killed a couple centuries back and hear emotions and cast ninjutsu through song alone with no hand signs. who killed them is a blank that can be filled in however we want, doesn't have to be Komoro.

Ryone is determined despite her mute condition, expressing herself more visually to make up for her lack of speech, using her facial expressions, sign language and body movements to convey her emotions. People who put think she is weaker for her disability naturally earn her ire. She worries about the path Tetsumi is going down and wishes she can do something to steer her away from it.

Ryone was born mute, unable to speak. She learned to communicate with writing and hand signs as a child, and in the academy was regarded by others hopeless, other oto children looking at her and saying “how can you hope to be Sound ninja when you can't even speak!?” they said with contemptuously. Ryone in response only grew determined to prove them wrong. She learned the ways of taijutsu and battle-instruments, to move silently and use ninjutsu, working hard to prove herself worthy as a shinobi, and managed to graduate as a genin.

Put on Team 5, with Tetsumi Shiraki, Emari hanaba and her captain Tokuri Miyabira she worked just as hard to contribute to the team and work with others. However during the mission, two of her teammates died, leaving her only with Tetsumi who sings songs of rage and vengeance, and being reassigned. She now feels sadness for her lost comrades, they didn't judge her for being mute and developed a friendship with them and now they're dead, she feels empty, and at times keeps expecting them to be there but then remembers they aren't.

But she cannot give up. No matter the loss, she must become a great ninja of Otogakure.

Ryone is mute and cannot speak, having to communicate in shinobi sign language and writing.

Improvised Writing:
She is very adept at finding tools and surfaces to write with or carve into with kunai and her taijutsu skills can allow her to leave short messages behind from her high-speed writing for various plans, warnings and messages.

High-Speed Hand Signs:
With better practice at manipulating her hands than most, she has faster handsigns than most shinobi, making her pull off ninjutsu faster than most.

Jingling Bell Grenade Jutsu: C-rank
After making a hand sign, she throws a bell that produces a loud ringing to try and rupture her enemies eardrums, both hurting and distracting them.

Dual Cymbal-Wielding: C-rank
Wields two cymbals as weapons and shields, achieved through both being ambidextrous and lot of practice.

Chakra Flow: Razor Cymbal, C-rank
Sharpens the edge of her cymbals with chakra to cut through things, as well strengthening the cymbals to better use as a shield.

Chakra Flow: Cymbal Throwing, C-rank
Throws a cymbal controlled and sharpened with chakra flow to cut through a foe then return to her hand.

Wind Release: Double Jump, C-rank
Can use wind release to jump in mid air by expelling wind from her feet, allowing her incredible acrobatic mobility and to dodge in the middle of a jump.

Wind Release: Cymbal Crash Blastwave: B-rank
With a big clash of her cymbals and some wind chakra, she blasts a big vertical shockwave of sound and wind to cut through things with great force. She can only do this attack two times before getting tired out.

She used to be a normal genin for Otogakure: likes music, well-adjusted aside from hating Konoha. After her bloodline awakened from her comrades dying her personality shifted a lot towards the negative, now she is brooding with bursts of anger, she hears peoples emotions is trying to tune them out so she can focus making her annoyed. Tetsumi seeks revenge against the rogue shinobi that killed them. Her hate of Konoha has developed, now she understands what the last generation felt when their comrades died at the hands of enemy shinobi.

Tetsumi Shiraki grew up a normal kunoichi for Otogakure, and was not particularly notable for the most part. She was put on Team 5 along with Ryone, her Chuunin captain Tokuri Miyabira and another genin Emari Hanaba and they became friends and comrades as they worked together. But then during a mission she saw them die against a rogue shinobi, heard the screams of their deaths, and felt a sudden pain in her ears as they suddenly grew longer and more pointed.

She suddenly began singing a song of vengeance at the rogue shinobi, the rage and loss in heart fueling the jutsu spilling from her lips, a powerful discordant shrieking song that chased them off, saving her and Ryone at least.

Since then she has felt nothing but anger and grief, she read up on this bloodline and it wasn't the Komoro clan bloodline- but rather something called Heart-Hearing or Heart-Listener. A bloodline that was closely related to the Komoro that heard emotions and used the ones within themselves as fuel for their song-jutsu. They were a clan that heard the pain, loss and battle of war around them, and thus in response sang songs of vengeance, rage and hatred to fight back. However they were seemingly wiped out a couple centuries ago.

It mattered little. With the Song of Vengeance in her soul, Tetsumi now walks a path of vengeance, seeking that rogue shinobi to kill them in retribution.

Tetsumi prefers to fight from range and is good at various throwing and ranged weapons to keep her distance.

Heart-Hearing:
This bloodline in addition to making the user have much sharper hearing the normal, listens to the sound of peoples emotions through pointed ears. They cannot read thoughts but they can hear what people are feeling underneath. From the emotions they hear, the user can compose chakra-songs to attack people with the expressed emotions manifested in chakra and ninjutsu. This requires no hand signs.

Echoes of Hatred: C-rank
Tetsumi can hear the echoes of hatred, rage, killing intent and other negative emotions in people allowing her to pinpoint the location of enemy shinobi even when they are hiding or trying to sneak attack her.

Whisper of Hatred: Hatred's Poison Blade, C-rank
Whispering a soft song of hatred to her blade, she enhances it as if sharpened by chakra flow and poisons those cut by it with hate to make them focus on what they hate over everything else as a genjutsu.

Song of Vengeance: Notes of Hatred, C-rank
Tetsumi sings out a stream of red notes of vengeance at their foe, hurting them physically as well as making them feel anger and hate at the same time if they hit.

Song of Rage: Confusion of Battle Genjutsu C-rank
Sings a song to make all enemies who hear it unable to tell friend from foe while enraging them to attack recklessly.

Song of Loss: Wailing Grief Genjutsu, C-rank
Sings a song of loss and grief, putting all the enemies who hear it into a genjutsu where they think their loved ones are dead to make have a fit of grieving making them vulnerable.

Song of Vengeance: Pain From Within, C-rank
Tetsumi can plant a seed of hatred made of chakra with someone through a note of hatred, thrown weapons like kunai or shuriken or her fingers then she sings to activate the seed, making the seed explode with the sounds of hatred from within to hurt or kill the foe.

Song of Vengeance: Dying Screams, B-rank
The dying screams of her comrades are forever etched into Tetsumi's memory. She uses the memory of their dying moments to unleash echoes of this moment at her foe as her signature jutsu, screaming with loss and rage at them in a cone of red chakra taking the form of phantoms of dead comrades. The more comrades that die within her earshot, the stronger this jutsu permanently becomes. Can only perform this jutsu twice a day at their current level of strength.

So, if YuYuYu is training with Yorokobi regularly then she's going to see her "human form" sooner or later.

There is a very strong resemblance between Yorokobi's human form and Menko's. It would be accurate to say that Yorokobi's human form looks like an older Menko, except with more humanlike(but still pale) skintone and differant colored markings. Or like, Menko's hot mom.

We don't have to do a scene of that but it's something that should be kept in mind.

I generally go with 12 due to Sasuke being 8 when the Uchiha Massacre occurred and Itachi being 12 when he did it, and Sasuke being 12 when he meets Itachi again in the Tsunade Arc. there is some age discrepancy stuff regarding Itachi's age after that looking at the wiki but thats not important.

So I go with the Third Shinobi War being 12 years ago for the sake of chronology even if the author didn't think it all that important, because I can't find a canonical date but I know that 4th Hokage fought and won it but that he died when Naruto was born and Naruto is also 12, so the timing on that has to be tight. I don't think Rice Independence War ending 12 years ago rather than 10 will make any difference story wise?

though it could be a situation where the Third Shinobi War ended and the two villages stopped fighting.....but didn't technically formally declare the war to be ended for like two years, which while not normal is a thing that can happen. sometimes you just get into a border dispute for twelve years without anyone fighting each other because someone killed a pig and no one wants to die over that then people just realize how stupid the whole thing was, weird things happen like that. not often but it happens. I guess that could occur if the Senju clan leaned real hard politically on not fighting Sound even though they haven't formally made peace. either way I don't think it makes much difference.

Nozojo OST: hm, bit a change to see Big Shot used heroically but okay.

Futility-san song: yeah, that fits him.

Igor disappeared again immediately after saying he was feeling better and hoping to get something posted... I'm honestly kind of worried.

Just to keep the thread alive, any ideas for other scenes we can do? Flashbacks, stuff happening elsewhere a this time? Anything?

I poked him with a PM yesterday and he hasn't responded.

Honestly I'm just frustrated, all my plans and such are gated behind this pre-chuunin exams and Igor can't even bother to GM the arc he supposedly is working on. I think a lesson from this should be learned: if you can't post consistently, you really shouldn't be taking a GMing role in a freeform PBP like this because everything stops if you can't. and Igor has consistently shown that they can't do that.

like how many times do we have to go through this before we just admit that Igor just can't GM in this environment? on top of Igor's tendencies from what I can tell are overly self-sacrificing and overworked. like the impression I've gotten of him is that he just doesn't know how to manage his time so he doesn't get tired or forget because he has too much on his plate, because he is doing things for other people, because he wants their approval. I'm sorry if thats harsh, or misinterpretation but thats the honestly impression I've got from in the conversations I've had with him.

and to be clear this is not me wanting him to post more, he has a job and a family that he has to attend to, which if its more important than us? valid. entirely valid. but that doesn't leave us with someone to pick up the GMing role. So I think I should just take over, if Igor comes in post every once a while or whatever, great but I don't think he should be allowed to GM anymore if this what we keep getting stuck with.

if we want to do an elsewhere meanwhile thing, I guess there is other villages? flashbacks, I have no idea, but other than that, I dunno, my entire plan was that we get to Chuunin exams to open up and sample the world and see where it goes from there.

Well, if we really want to do that on the side, we can do that and a fun little mission for Yuyuyu and others involving a mysterious string of pranks in a town if that isn't enough. But I don't want to delay any longer Rater. I'm tired of stopgap measures while hoping that Igor will randomly show up out of the blue to magically suddenly post consistently. I don't share your superstition that this will automatically fail just because we don't have a third person. at this rate, we wait and wait, for Igor to post once and then what? they'll be gone for another month? whats the point? I've been accommodating as best I can, but I've got to speak honestly here and go with what works to keep having fun, and this is not working.

Again, Again, AGAIN I never said you have to quit entirely, I have always been open to you just dropping in occasionally and just roleplaying when you CAN. Your the one who keeps suggesting you quit entirely, thats all you. I was only talking about maybe your not cut out for A GMIing Role that doesn't mean you can't roleplay with us at all. Stop suggesting the most extreme option as if its the only one you can do.

Because it only frustrates me, because you don't seem to realize that what I'm frustrated about is not that your not here, but that you'll say you be here and haven taken on a role that requires you to be here a lot to make sure things happen but are unable to fulfill the promise implicit in that role. this is not a binary of you having to quit the roleplay entirely or continue this current snail pace, my suggestion was just that you aren't fit for a specific role we need to keep going.

Okay, I think I have a solution:

if you can't be here to GM, and can't decide what to post IC, this is why we have the OOC: to plan things out. you can pitch your ideas for us before they happen and discuss what to do about that and maybe we can help you decide, and if you can't do it yourself, maybe you can state your idea here that you want to happen and I'll implement in IC as best I can.

its not perfect and won't be surprising, but I've given up on surprising anyone long time ago. thats just a sacrifice one has to make for a narrative roleplay like this.

like if I GM, that doesn't you won't have a say or that your vision won't be valued. I wouldn't want to ruin this, even if your not the one doing it.
