But it's still on a Weezing, which helps it stay manageable. That said, the biggest impact it can have is probably on Pokémon with hindering abilities. Slaking has a TBS of 670, 70 points higher than any other non-legendary. As a normal type it also has only one weakness and a good selection of strong STAB moves (for a monotyped mon). Slaking is currently seen as least concern in the competitive scene, it's now going to be a beast in doubles. Regigigas is in the same boat, with the same TBS (though that's not as weird with it being a major legendary), the same typing, and a similar debilitating ability.

So for a few combinations, Weezing is going to be pretty strong. Sure, just kill the weak Weezing and the bad abilities are back up (assumedly). But that obvious approach possibly only makes things worse. Waste your first turn doubling down on a Weezing that used Protect and Slaking will destroy you.
Yeah, the potential in double battles by bringing an ally with a negative self-ability is tremendous.

...so we built a five millionth, three hundreth, twenty first one. That one burned down, fell over, then got eaten by the snarl, but the five millionth, three hundreth, and twenty second one stayed up! Or at least, it has been until now."

Are double battles even, that popular? I saw them being pulled in the Lets Go Wifi battles but that is honestly because the meta is pretty easy and quickly figured out.

    @Bartmanhomer

I.enjoyed ita simplicity too but I can see how having fewer pokes meana it is short lived and uninteresting

Yes I understand that. I know all Pokemon are Generation 1 (With the exception of Meltan and Melmetal.) But hey I totally get where you're coming from and I respect that.

With the British islands having loads of opportunities for Fairy pokemon (but also dragons, and steal stuff), I feel like my first and second favourite types (fighting and dragon) will struggle even more. While I recognize Fairy as necessary to dampen the power of dragons somewhat, it is still unfathomably stupid how a levitating keychain or a small pixie superglued to a flower plainly avoids attacks from mythical beasts...
Yes some of the Strength And Weakness are weird. I just wish that they make a Dragon/Fairy Type Pokemon. That would be awesome.

Like a tiny shoulder dragon, but delicate and detailed rather than the usual ball of fluff, a bit like Floette. With four legs and with fairy style wings in some bright color.

And that's the final evolution. It starts bigger, a bit Dunsparce-like maybe, but grows smaller and more fairylike as it gets more powerful.

I guess Mega Pokemon dont count. Mega Alteria is Dragon Fairy. Its quite a powerhouse. Weak to poison, fairy, ice, and steel. And able to be either a special attacker or physical. Also able to be tanky. But most run Dragon Dance set up.

Can't say anything about popularity but Double Battle is the typical format used in official tournaments.

Not over here, apparently. The game will probably never come out in the Netherlands or Belgium.

The interesting part is the reason why. Apparently the lootboxes in this game are so questionable in nature that the company is afraid of legal trouble. That's kind of troubling.

Anyway, I'll be getting off the hype train at this point, since it's not stopping at my station.

Well they couldn't *not* make a tea Pokemon in a UK based region, could they?

Okay, we have the tea, camping and given that there is curry (of which sauages and beans are ingredients), I'll give you a pass on the fish & chips, Gamefreak. (I mean I neither tea nor curry myself, but whatever.)

Still waiting on those old men riding down hills in bathtubs, though.

So decent-looking Pokémon wouldn't hurt. (Y'know, that arguably being the main thing.)

If you claim Magikarp cant stand up to Ubers, you havent seen the battle video of someone Baton Passing a Swords Dance and an Agility to a 1hp Magikarp which then sweeps an entire team with Flail. Sadly now most places ban Baton Pass (for very good reasons), but it has totally been done. Sure it would auto lose to any steel, rock, or ghost mon, but if you get lucky with the foe's team, Oh Boy. Oh, and there's a classic video of a Moody Bidoof team, as in the entire team is 6 Bidoof all with Moody, beating an Ubers team. Ridiculous things have been done. But Unown is not one of those things.
