A ferry to Alfredville?! Back in my day, we had to take a ship all the way to the Battle Frontier, because we weren't so damn cocky that we could just swim over! These days with these smart alecky hooligans who just fly an oversized bird-plane, no one bothers to appreciate what we once went through.

Last Crusade absolutely gives it a run for its money. Henry Sr. practically steals the whole movie, and Brody is just a delight. And they brought Sallah back (I can't quite say why, but Sallah is an absolute treasure of a character. Then again, I apparently think John Rhys-Davies can do no wrong), so bonus points there. But Raiders is on my list of damn near perfect movies. When I asked it to my wife for the first time, she said she felt like she had seen most of it already, since so many scenes have been parodied, homaged, or just memed.

Also, I have yet to see anything Gilbert and Sullivan ever did, despite Sallah and West Wing making just hilariously amazing references to them.

No, not really. In fact, I wouldn't be particularly surprised if some other members of MitD's species might be in Kraagor's Tomb cave complex.

I agree. He's like the almost-twin brother of BRIAN BLESSED and Blessed is a wonder in anything. A stellar performance as Exeter in Branagh's Henry V. Between him and Queen's soundtrack, they even elevated Flash Gordon into high camp.

We see the MitD putting crosses on several doors at once. If he knew which one led to the gate, wouldn't it make more sense to only mark that one? By marking several, he decreases the time it takes until his bluff is exposed (i.e. every door is marked and the Gate hasn't been found).

So, it occurs to me that since Slaad is such a strong contender, and since I don't see any mention of it, has anyone considered potential clues from comic 1147? I remember a discussion a while back about what the result of that impregnation would be, and I seem to remember people just saying that it would be another Slaad, but I also notice the mention that "Now that little tadpole has spawn of its own" after it impregnated the nurse. Lets assume that the nurse was likely to be another celestial.
Now, obviously, the MitD wouldn't be THAT celestial's spawn, because that only happened three months ago, but I'm imagining a similar situation happening sometime in the past.

Because of this, I started to look at what the stats for a Half-Celestial Death Green would be, assuming that the "Nurse" was potentially some kind of spellcaster (likely a cleric).
    Large; Fits in the box.
Str: 23 base + 4: not the colloquial 30, but not terribly far off. It would presumably only start as Green, and would grow up, gaining strength as it went.
Cha: 12+4: Also half-celestials are supposed to be inherently beautiful, but Slaad would obviously not be. This could generate the mixed reactions.
This would definitely be considered an outsider, so you wouldn't expect to see it on this plane, and it would have experience on other planes, though it would not have been home in a long time.
If it's "Dad" was the Slaad, it would likely be considerably smaller.
It amusingly has the spell "Deeper darkness".
It would not initally be able to talk in common, but rather only in Slaad.

So I guess my explanation is this: The MitD is a Half-Celestial Slaad. When the hunters found it, it was likely very young, in its green stage, explaining why it would be odd for it to know common. As far as I know, we don't know how long it was in the circus, or exactly how long ago the hunters found it. Its maturity would have been stunted during this time, as it would not have had other Slaadi as examples of how to "grow up". When Redcloak and Xykon found it, it had already changed into a Death Slaad, which is why they would have teamed up with it.
While in the box and staying in Azure city, it underwent its "seclusion" stage (they were there for months), and changed into a White slaad, learning teleport without fail just in time to teleport O-chul out.

I think this explains pretty much everything. It also has a bonus of being something that is pretty directly mentioned within the comic as a cross-breed.
So in the end, put my vote on Half-Celestial White (currently) Slaad.

Half-celestial template can still be added to slaadi. It's up to the DM to justify it. Maybe the slaad and the celestial mated the conventional way. Or the slaad was infused with celestial power - and that gave it the template.

I mean, it does kinda fall into the "melon and a rock" metaphor Thor uses, but I doubt that it would be significant enough for anyone to feel the need to apply a template. It'd be easier to just say that "the Slaad has +2 [relevant stats] and has a doodad to absorb light" than to apply a template to it. I could be wrong, but it still feels it would be needlessly complex.
