It's actually um... Nigel points the other way down the street, but he doesn't move to leave. You're... you're ok here? Don't need anything just... picking up rocks? It's a homeless uh... sentient cloak. Should he... should he give it some money? Does it need to eat?

The cloak shrugs and whispers

"I don't think I'm fine but you have places to be, here's to seeing you again!"

He collects an incredibly gray rock

Alright then. You uh... you have fun. Nigel says, turning to leave. He turns back, apparently changing his mind again. If you do need anything though... Why is he offering to help the cloak. Just. Just go get the salt and leave. This is probably a fever dream.

The cloak stares, or at least you assume it does, Nigel in the eye.

"Why are you hesitating? Do you need a friend to go with you? I would be delighted"

Having promptly invited itself the cloak seems to wait for Nigel to head off!

Uh... You brought this on yourself. Sure. Sure it's just... he says, motioning further down the street. He'll turn to lead the cloak. You uh... you collect rocks here often? He asks as they walk.

The cloak happily whispers, bending down to fetch a particularly red piece of brick

So... you're... not alive? What's uh... what's the deal with that. Nigel says, glancing around at an intersection to make sure noone's lying in wait before continuing across the street.

"I wouldn't believe that faerie either ma'am," Butler decides. "Gas can't talk ma'am." Anri is being deceived!

Butler tilts his head for a moment, as if listening to something. "The lady of the house is ready for you ma'am," Butler stands up. "This way ma'am." The catboy will head into the theater.

"Well things that are alive generally aren't made of clothes!"

The Cloak floats along with Nigel, examining around for rocks.

Sure, but most clothes don't generally fly around collecting rocks. A beat. I hope. He says, looking down at his jacket. How long have you been uh... not-alive, then?

Anri nods and heads into the theater with Butler. So that’s her?
Anri stays silent for now, waiting for the arch warlock to speak first, as she does not want to interrupt her and her gnoll show. The last thing she wants to do is have a rude first impression.

The screen suddenly gets static as the woman they can only see the back of holds up what seem to be a remote. "So? Are you going to introduce yourself or what? I've been waiting for ages now."

Butler steps up past Tellysandra, turning to face her and motioning for Anri as well. "Apologies, but the wait was my fault ma'am. I misunderstood the priority of your activities ma'am. It won't happen again ma'am," Butler says, trying to smooth things over a little.

"This is the Lady Tellysandra ma'am," Butler says introducing her to Anri, but leaving Anri to introduce herself since that was what was requested.

So how'd it... happen? Nigel asks, spotting his destination finally and moving with a purpose. Is this a wizard thing? Did a wizard do this to you? He asks, suddenly suspicious. You cannot trust wizards.

"Magic and Yes a Wizard did, I think, What do Wizards look like?"

The cloak shrugs and looks out searching the land around looking for where ever Nigel was headed.

The cloak will... see? See a small shack between larger buildings, with a picture of a simple potion painted onto the side. It's set a little further back from the road than its neighbours, leaving it permanently set slightly in shadow. It's a craphole! It extremely sucks and that is saying something considering they're in groundtown.

Uh... they have like... a long robe and a pointed hat, usually. Sometimes they'll have like a staff or a wand too. Nigel has a very traditional view of wizards. How are you finding uh... being sentient? He asks, heading toward the door.

Anri stiffens. Well, she has a better idea of what kind of person she’s dealing with. Being flowery won’t help. Better get straight to the point.
”Good evening, Ma’am. I’m Anri Larouge; I run a library in one of the other districts. I’m here because I’ve been struck with a stubborn demon curse and you’re the best there is when it comes to warlockry in this city.” she says bluntly.

"Oh! I've seen one of those with the Long magic stick!"

The cloak pointed to the craphole.

"Are we there yet?"

Yeah, this is it. Nigel says as he opens the door and pokes his head inside. Hello!

The front room of the shack looks like it takes up most of the building - a crowded alchemy lab slash storefront with shelves on every wall, covered in potions and reagents in no conceivable order. A single desk sits near the back of the room, covered in alchemical equipment and presided over by a rat-person, covered in a burlap shawl, threadbare and patchy. Eh? As she looks up the cloak will see that she has 3 eyes rather than the expected 2, with the third sitting square in the middle of her forehead.

The cloak walks... Er Floats into the shack and whispers.

"She has THREE eyes that's more than you and me combined, is she like a super-powerful seer?

The cloak points but then remembers pointing is rude and lowers its sleeve

Uh... I don't know if- Nigel whispers, before: Yes. She interrupts. Her third eye swivels and careens madly, independent from her other eyes which bore a hole into the cloak. What is this. She asks, jabbing a crooked finger toward the cloak. Oh, sorry, just here for some Glauber's Salt. Nigel says, wringing his hands. She points to a shelf without breaking eye contact with the cloak.

"Hi, uh, my name is Animated Cloak and I am an Animated Cloak, may I ask yours?"

The cloak Floats forward roughly a step. HE Knew she was a seer obviously that's what the third eye is for seeing. DUH

"Oh Also do you have some string my bottom edge is fraying?"

[Tellysandra’s Manse]

"So you're coming to me like I'm some kind of service provider?" Tellysandra asks calmly as she gets up from her seat and turns to face Anri.
The archwarlock has her blindmask on which really begs the question how she's even watching the movie or whatever it is that's on screen.
She smiles. "But I'm used to people coming begging, so tell me then Anri, why should I help you? Actually, better question, how will you be able to entertain me? Since people coming begging don't usually have anything else to give." She turns to Butler. "Isn't that right, Butler? There has to be a fair exchange after all."

"Well I, uh, suppose so ma'am." Butler says, sounding unsure. It seems reasonable in principle. Someone who does work should get paid. That's just common sense.

"At the same time helping other people can be its own reward ma'am. I broke a demon curse for someone once and didn't expect anything for it ma'am. Though she was insistent on paying me back anyways ma'am," Butler laughs a little and rubs the back of his head, leaving little room for misunderstanding how he was paid back.

”I came here to deal, not to beg.” Anri says quietly, indignation sleeping into her voice.
”Past the assumption that the rarer contents of my library bear no interest to you, I can offer that if restored to my original body I can grant wishes. Though not as great as a true djinni I have found them to be without catches.” Except when you make her very angry first.
”...and if I must, while I hate it with every fiber of my being, this demon-golem I have been entrapped in was made for the purpose of entertainment. Hence the custom supply of exotic drinks, the music machine, the projector, and the Gods know what else is packed in back there. There’s a few functions I know no one has requested yet. I would be willing to work in exchange for this service. For a reasonable period of time.”

The ratfolk scuttles forward with alarming speed, trying to seize the bottom of the cloak in her hands and inspect it. Mimi. She mutters as she looks, third eye suddenly settling on the empty space where the cloak's head would be. Provided she does indeed see some frays in the cloak she'll scuttle back to her desk, producing a needle and thread from a drawer, before scuttling back and attempting to fix up the hem.

Nigel has been distracted by an alembic and is trying to figure out what percentage copper the brass is by comparing it to colours on his phone.

There are indeed some frays and even a few tatters of cloth at the bottom.
THe cloak stayed still to allow his new friend to fix him up!


As the ratfolk works on the seem, being closer than Nigel was, notices almost the entire inside of the cloak is filled with pockets.

Eh? She looks up distractedly before calculating something in her head. T... twenty copper. she says, defiantly staring at the cloak as if it will challenge her on that number (well, 2/3 staring at the cloak, the other eye's wandered off again, but it's the thought that counts). Her hands keep nervously working at the hem as she stares. She's doing a pretty good job! The contents of the cloak's pockets don't really interest her though.

"I think thirty copper is fairer!"

The cloak whispers happily, all things considered, she basically just saved his unlife.

When she finishes up the cloak reaches into an inside pocket and pulls out 29 copper and a copper-colored rock.
