Illusions can be fun!
So while playing as a very prankster-like wizard, specialising in illusion, i grew bored with the current range of illusion spells. So i set about to make a few of my own.
Imaginary Disease
School: Illusion (Mind Affecting)
Level: Sor/Wiz 2 or 3 or 4 (haven't decided yet)
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Humanoid
Duration: 12 hours/2 levels
Saving Throw: Will Negates
Spell Resistance: No
The target is infected with a fake disease, symptons are chosen by the caster and may be the same as any known disease. When the spell is first cast the caster may choose for the spell to take affect instantly or within an hours time. The target and any who looks upon them beleive that thet are affected by a horrible disease, will save negates, if the target fights or makes a skill check they sufrer a -2 moral bonus. In non combat situations the target will seek the most rational course and stay in bed and try to cure the disease.True seeing will see straight through the illusion. Detect magic will sense a feint magic aura around the target. Disspell Magic ends the spell. No normal methods will remove the spell, not even a cure disease spell. Caster may end the spell at any time.
Vashara's Contagion
School: Illusion (Mind Affecting)
Level: Sor/Wiz 6
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Target: Humanoid touched + 10 humanoids/2 levels
Duration: 12 hours/level
Saving Throw: Will Negates
Spell Resistance: No
Works as Imaginary Disease, except that the disease will spread when the original target, aany othe affected, touch another. When the disease is to spread each new victim makes a will save to resist. If a person affected then they receive no will save to see through the illusion on another target. The spell when first cast take an hour to manifest, as each person becomes affected the symptons manifest over an hour.
So they are the on them, so any changes that you think need to be made say so also feel free to show off your own illusion spells, I want more of them.Last edited by Arxheon89; 2007-10-03 at 08:29 AM.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
How about some other hallucinatory spells i.e. Batman convinces the lawful stupid paladin that the cleric's a demon in disguise.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
Thus the difference between lawful awful, and lawful awesome. But really, most paladins would make that save. Then the illusionist would cast Enervation or something. Unless s/he was foolish enough to ban necromancy, in which case the illusionist shall most verily be smittien (Unless they've casted displacement and mirror image, perhaps).

Re: Illusions can be fun!
Until the lawful stupid paladin ruins it by shoving his teetotallery on everybody, making the... mentally inhibited awful stupid paladin assume that he's actually a blackguard in golden armor (the first pally, that is), and thus attempts to smite him, and the lawful awesome paladin's too smashed to break it up. That's when the fun really starts .
Edit: Once again, I've made a 180 degree turn away from the topic. Somebody needs to come up with some more nifty illusions.Last edited by Dullyanna; 2007-10-03 at 07:05 PM.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
Is there any particular reason you don't write the duration on Imaginary Disease as either 1 day per four levels or 6 hours per level?
Likewise, with Vasha's, why ten per two levels on the number of targets?
Nit-picky, I know....
On the plus side, these things drip with plot potential - at least, once per group. If you only do it once, it's funny to send the party off on a chase for a cure that doesn't actually exist because there is no actual disease...
Oh, and you might want to put some limits on the symptoms. After all, a disease where the "symptoms" happen to coincide perfectly with the effects of Dominate Person cast by the caster is a little too good... especially once it's infectious.Of course, by the time I finish this post, it will already be obsolete. C'est la vie.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
Ok so for duration if it is 1day/level then it goes up really slow and 6 hours/level goes really fast so i thought 12hours/2levels was good
again for same reasons on the number of people.
well yes that could be fun but my character mainly used it for ripping off villages, and one time he blackmailed a king.
With the symptons it only actual diseases not spell effects, and it is fake disease remember this.
Also yes you are nit-picky but thats kool.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
Since it's just an illusion, though, it probably shouldn't be able to replicate mental effects, like drowsiness or irritability or exciting feverish madness ("Xykon is from modern Earth!"). Granted, there's a lot to be said for the psychosomatic aspects of the spell, but it shouldn't force anything. That'd make it Enchantment.

Re: Illusions can be fun!
good point might have to rework the type will do that soon
ok so went back and re-read my first post and it say Mind affecting as a sub school, so the mental stuff can be put there, most likely that is what causes the overall -2( should that be higher im not sure what do you guys think)Last edited by Arxheon89; 2007-10-04 at 07:52 AM.
