Well. Sure, but ... only if we're sure we're not leaving any women or children loot behind.

Which ones? It seems there was a ritual to transform our mage into a bird of some sort - it may have involved silver, black pearls, lotus blossom, hair of ... something, maybe the mage himself, and a few drops of his blood. It smells of both human and bird, and there are feathers around. Feathered handprint too, maybe mid-transformation?

Then there are the clues to where he went - wood that whistles, singing bridge. Something about tobacco to cover the smell. I have no idea what that's about, yet. We'll propably end up visiting a library .. bloody sorcery.

Ok. Laid out like that it makes sense. But why the blood on the window sill? Was there some form of struggle?

By my guess, he cut his hand as part of the transformation ritual - bit of blood magic. Then, as he hopped onto the windowsill to fly off, got a bit of blood on it. Or, conversely, he simply broke the glass, and cut himself on it.

Quick post to indicate that I'm entirely fine with the tearing out of the window. Rosa points out the drawbacks, but she won't really hold it against anyone if that plan is implemented.

    Also: Leave. The. Kitty. Alone.

Oh. I read this after. Good thing we concur =D

I do hope you'll let me know if Borgrim's antics become an annoyance. I consider him immensely fun thus far, but it might become tiresome over time (even to me).

I'll need a Charisma: Deception check for Cιsar. If Rosa has some way she could help I can give advantage, but as far as the watchmen know, Cιsar is the only one in the house at the moment.

Well, you know, random rolls being independent and all, it's not like it's less probable to have a low result than a good one two tries ago I did what I could for advantage.

In other news, next rule after leave-kitty-alone is "don't make remarks that could even indirectly be construed as relating to Rosa's weight or mass".

You know what time it is? It's random useless factoid time!

It turns out crows and ravens aren't the same, except where they are.

In the New World, it appears crows and ravens are not the same:
    Spoiler: Picture
    Show

For us stranded in the Old World, it seems the difference is less marked. French has corbeau which sounds, to me at least, cognate to crow. It also has corneille. Both are used intercheangeably by non-ornithologists, and also refer to two similarly sized and looking species who only people who care can reliably tell apart.

A cursory search of the internets tells me Italian only has corvo for all these birds, but since we have a native speaker, I'm curious to know more.

What about the Kingdom of Daneland?

Regarding the British Isles, info dump here.

The crow is called Krage, while the raven is called Ravn. Crows have a sort of proto-raven quality to them, being smaller, less lustrous, and way less cool. Also, crows didn't get to spy for Odin, and whisper in his ear.

Ah, well I guess I'm at fault for assuming that everyone else was aware of the distinction between the two. Where I live we get both the American Crow and the Common Raven (and only those two, in everyday use they are the only birds referred to as 'crow' and 'raven'), depending on the season, as they both tend to travel south for the winter. So we get crows during the summer and ravens during the winter (more or less). And if you move far enough north into the boreal forest then you get ravens year-round.

As for the IC usage, it's probably harder to tell the difference when it's a crow-human hybrid. But Nicodemus' use (or rather, my use as the GM) of crow is intentional, as opposed to the raven that Benedict has. Of course, that's not to say that other people in the world might look at a crow cult and mistake it for a raven cult.
